>>7376577Use better lighting or make the proper edits to brighten it, if need be (Most phones allow you to edit your photos after the fact, but try not to be too reliant on that)
>>7373143 posted a pretty good lighting tutorial if your limited on light resources, I think. The pose is good but photo is still flat. .. Also, be sure to push his hand all the way in next time.
Try a different background. Just a board or cloth as your backdrop would help. (For instance, this pic was taken on the floor in front of my curtain.)
Also I find straight static shots a bit boring, unless the background or the other subjects in the photo help give the photo a proper weight. (I like to look Wes Anderson's films for inspiration in that department.)
Actually see
>>7375173 is a good example. The subject is front and center but the elements and back ground help to give the photo proper balance. ie: Debris coming from the right, and the other guy looking way, not being the subject, pushes the focus to the center. The movement is going from the right off of the frame into the center. ... There are other good examples in this thread that illustrate what I'm trying to get at, actually.
Pay attention to cropping. The toes being cropped off doesn't seem intentional. Not that the whole figure should be shown in the photo, but there should be some type of purpose to the cropping is what I'm trying to get at.
Also keep shooting. Learn by doing.
