I've heard the argument that Lego is expensive because they have the design and marketing teams to pay for. But quite honestly, Enlighten has some enviable sets.

The only way to close the wings is to reach in and pivot the technic pieces by hand, but the wings never close all the way with the heavy guns I put on it so I never close them anyway.

I left the proportions the same, but honestly the proportions don't bother me. Minifigs are basically childlike figures, not adults. It's why their heads are so big,

Didn't know they remade the xwing so recently. I'm a stay-at-home-dad (inb4 posts about that, this is a LEGO thread) so I don't keep up with new sets that well. Thought this was an original build

I completely got rid of the top mechanism that opens and closes the wings and replaced it will greebling. I added more greebling to the back to fill in the empty spaces to either side. The guns are a completely new design. But the main change I did was to the air (space?) intakes. I used a 3x bar piece and one of those new 2x1 rounded plates with the holes through the studs to attach everything as opposed to using a technic rod. The round light bley pieces are made to rotate so I needed a way to keep them still without using kragle.

It's a nice set, but the wing proportions are a bit... off. If you watch the Jang review, you'll see what I mean. The intakes are supposed to stick out beyond the front of the wing, but the way TLG have them attached, the pieces next to them stick out further.

I keep this picture in my klocki folder. it looks so comfy and i keep buying little pieces for my dream-room for 2 years already but i still don't have enough BRICKS of one color to build all walls.
How many BRICKS should i even buy to build a wall?

The wall in your picture is mostly panels, and it depends on what you want it to look like. You can make a wall with a plate and some tiles, or lots of other combinations of parts. It doesn't just have to be stacks of bricks and plates.

Your picture is terrible but it looks like there's some ink on the bottom half?

If it's paint residue, you can try soaking it in Simple Green for a few days. If it's permanent marker, you can try using a black dry erase marker to remove the ink, although if it's been there for more than a few hours there will probably be some residual staining.

If it's not a sentimental thing, it would probably be easier to just buy another one.

Since the last thread's been deleted, I never got to see if there was any reaction on my moc : it's based on Cole's part of the thunder raider, and if possible, I will make Jay's vehicle and make it able to combine not only like the old set, but also as an armor for the mech.

Nobody responded in the last thread, so I'm posting it again:

This is the crew for which I have been trying and failing to build a ship for some time now. Everything is from the 2015 Pirates line, with some minifig parts swapped around to create a sense of order.

The three columns to the left each consist of a bluecoat officer, two veterans and three conscripts. They make up the fighting force of the ship. The one wearing a hat is the captain of the ship, the one in the wig is a nobleman, aspiring politician and his second-in-command, whereas the third officer started out as a lowly conscript and has risen through the ranks quickly through merit alone. The three columns to the right are mostly noncombatants. The lad in the green shirt is the younger brother of the nobleman, technically on the crew to learn, but he's more of a spoiled brat and a waste of space than anything else. The two pirate captains who complete the front row are reformed pirates, and their knowledge is put to use here much like IT companies have been known to hire hackers. Behind the green lad, you have the cook, who can make vaguely edible and surprisingly nutritious food from almost nothing. To his side are two local fishermen who much like the pirate captains have been hired for their useful knowledge and skills. Rounding out the crew are a dozen seamen, who do work around the ship.

I think you should vary up the look of your irregulars a bit. The two reformed pirate captains have identical heads; I'd swap out one of them. There are some other sailor tops you could use if you want to move outside of the 2015 line, like this great black and white striped shirt with ascot pattern.

In the real world, while the soldiers would be held to higher accountability and provided with uniforms, the seamen were civilians hired aboard for that specific voyage and while they were expected to abide by the captain's orders, they weren't provided with any clothing, so they would be wearing whatever they had on them. This would naturally trend to roughly the same overall set of clothing that the other seamen are wearing for the sake of utility, but there would be personal touches and preferences. The main thing that stands out with your dudes is how all the seamen only have two variations in shirts and bandanas. I would get a few of the old-style pirate bandanas, give one or two guys a neckerchief, swap out a bandana for hair on one or two of them, maybe have one guy go shirtless, and give a few more of them different torsos.

For the twelve seamen, I actually made an effort to have each and every one of them be unique in the combination of face, shirt and pants. Maybe there is a reason why red striped shirts and bandanas are a thing, I don't know.

Again, I'm working with what I have, and my other figs are either too modern or too antiquated to fit the setting, being mostly City, Creator and Castle stuff. As for the remaining Pirates figures, this front row contains all the leftovers.

I might swap some faces from my City and Creator stuff, though, since I'll probably have to use pieces from those collections to build the ship anyway.

I have been thinking about a seaside fortress or something like that to go with the ship. It could be as easy as using the lower layers of 60130 to build something resembling Eldorado Fortress, the two sets are not that different in shape, size and layout.

Get the king's mech from Nexo Knights' first wave or detroit steel. For me they are the best mechs lego has put out in recent memory. The spider mech from the new venom set is also very fun and has some sweet techniques for the shoulders and feet.

1) buy starwars sets for grey stuff and machinery
2) buy Ninjago/NexoKnights/Chima/Space/Castle/whatever line is on - for unique parts or just for any parts
3) Build literally any mechs - from star wars mechs to castle mechs and friends mechs.

In other words - go bother space/friends anons - we are not that easy to be triggered.

Can't post a link because 4chan thinks it's spam but it's basically right on top in their community section on the left and in the comment section of their latest post about the CMFs.

Basically they sent a cease and desist letter to Held der Steine, a privately owned Lego store and pretty much the largest German Youtube review channel, for the useage of a (nondescript) brick with stud in his logo.
A lot of people see this as an attack on his more than critical stance on Lego, their declining quality and questionable decisions and more proof for Lego's incompetent marketing department.
His own response was to cut the direct ties with Lego and now also offer rivaling brands in his shop and do reviews for them.

Its his own fault. If you take your Lego from TLC You cant use their signs without asking first. They always allow you to do that but YOU HAVE TO ASK. It is even mentioned in papers you sign to start working with Lego.

How common is this? I've sold some of my old Legos in the past and I've always separated them out as best as possible to what you get in a new set. This was just annoying and took a lot longer to build than normal.

Putting any political figure in a non political source of entertainment as themselves and shining them in a positive light is signalling to their base. Similar to how the first Lego Movie had say, Gandalf, as a signal to LoTR fans. If she is not in the film to signal to her supporters and you can contradict this, please. Sure, but there are some topics that are more political than others. For example far fever people find the use of yellow/flesh colored figs a political decision, and even less have hard feelings about it.
Give me one good reason to include Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the next movie: she's only relevant to burgers, and in the US she is a polarizing figure. (The inclusion of Abraham Lincoln in the previous movie is also bewildering, but at least he's a "historical figure", who's known outside the US as well, and he's not AS polarizing.)

I think it's a fair point. He is a long standing fan of the minecraft theme and game and has been pushing for them to take the theme in new directions for a while. He often makes 'play' suggestions, or creative rebuild suggestions for kids as part of his reviews. As someone who isn't a minecraft fan it's helped me understand the sets and I find the theme to be some of his most entertaining reviews.

As an AFOL I can appreciate the minecraft theme for being different than the other themes but it seems beyond done to death. I think thats why we're only seeing these 2 sets and new brick built figures. The theme can only survive for so long releasing a new $40 set that is just more of the same with a single new creature or concept from the game.

I really thought the pirate ship set was hot garbage before the review, which is too bad because it's a neat concept that ends up being over priced because minecraft license and the way the theme uses full blocks for things like the ship's sails. After the review it still looks over priced for me, but I could see a kid getting enjoyment out of the re-arangable play set. From the leaked pictures I actually thought it was supposed to be a ship (as opposed to a wreck) and was confused as to weather they added larger boats to minecraft.

I was confused as to why he jumped to suggesting that it might be an 'alternate time line' or historic mine craft civilization. The obvious solution is that it's minecraft. You build shit like this. I'm sure that 100% of minecraft kids wouldn't bat an eyelash at the idea of a ship, complete with sail, is in the set. It snowed, so I dug out a project I started 20+ years ago (when they only had basic blocks) and started adding detail. I'll keep working on it and the interior and add to my city once complete. It's pretty large but so will my hospital once completed. My new fire trucks have a home now.

I plan on getting it to be less "red". It's what I had back in the day. (I grew up in a mill town so built a lot of mill-like buildings.) Will post progress as the winter progresses.

I've already modded it with a fireman's pole and stairs to each floor. I was a big fan of the big plate windows and bought hundreds and hundreds from LEGO when you could do that.

Back in the day we never cared about stairs and just moved our mini-figures from one floor to another. So I'll be going through this and changing things around but it's very structural and sound.

Sure is. I was building modulars before LEGO had their line out. I always build these large buildings. I had an elementary school, a church, the fire station and a huge dock with marina and boats. It took up most of the living room. The rug was the land and the floor around the perimeter was the water. Each week I'd go to our local Toys R Us, Kaybee Kids, and even way back Child World and buy every road plate they had. Then when they came out with trains I bought and set up so much track the train wasn't getting enough juice to power itself.

Now I have two rooms dedicated to my hobby and yet it leaks to every room of this mansion.

Happy to be back in the channel here.

I actually redecorated it completely now. Has different walls and stuff with coloured walls. And the wall has more 'modern' art-deco decorations and detaling. Glad you liked it, i really love making small minifig scaled appliances and furniture!

ooh nice technique, i'm in the process of making my first 6-wide car that you can steer right now. But i'm cheating a bit since its a six wide car body (that seats three!) but on a big oversized off-road chassis so the clever ness of hyper compact builds isn't exactly this ones appeal.

Didn't even notice I had trips. The original fire station was built originally in the 90's but with bricks from the 60's through the 90's. Clutch is fine. The older bricks had a different underside and a different LEGO font on the stud. Color can sometimes be a little off but I think that adds to the authenticity of the project.

Iv'e had two dark ages but have been "Winter Building" for the past 3-4 years now. I have the room and the funds to buy whatever I pretty much want but mostly buy tubs of second hand bricks for short money and build to my hearts content all winter long. I'm not a big set builder guy even though I have a ton of sets.

I am taking the full remark into context, however the remark about being 12 still denotes that the age of a child is below 12 - whereas more states denote the age of consent as 16+.
