>>7412965>Also, why'd they stop making rahi sets? That shit was so cool.Greg on BZP used to say they sold bad. Having two of the same model in one package jacked up the prices considerably, and not many buyers could afford them. I know my family couldn't. Though this does make me wonder why they decided late in G1's run to bring back super-expensive Technic-like sets.
I'm actually in a similar boat as you. I followed the franchise from the start but 2004 was when I really got into collecting, so I missed out on most '01-'03 sets, and I haven't so far managed to get all of them. Those years still feel so mysterious and "holy" to me because my experience with Bionicle was extremely limited back then, and I always felt I was missing out on some grandiose stuff. Looking at promotional pics fueled my imagination and that perhaps made the sets seem cooler than they were.
I guess part of this has to do with how much I "looked up to" Technic sets as a wee kid. They felt like next level Lego, and since most of the early Bionicle sets were heavily Technic-based, my child-self used to regard them with the same admiration.
