So I saw the Lego movie last night and you guys were right. Rex is the villain, the girls are super perfect, the whole movie is a critique on “toxic” masculinity, and even Ruth Bader Ginsburg makes a cameo for absolutely no reason and everyone cheers. In the end the little boy winds up playing with girl toys.

Oh and President Business? He’s given up on the hobby to pursue adult activities like playing golf. AFOLs absolutely BTFO again.

Bought two TLM2 CMFs and got... Two Crayon Girls. Probably the one I wanted the least... I hate it when stores put them right up by the counter so you can't feel them beforehand.

Got to clean up my room a bit today. Its getting messy and I got klocki on the way. Also gotta clean my room where I got my other klocki stored. Gosh I got so much fucking klocki I got it spread out along two houses and three rooms. Fuck I get kinda down when I think about how much I spent on klocki but I try not to spend what I have set up in my broker accounts. I'm kinda fortunate to be in a position to accumulate klocki but I need to excel in these classes so I can weasel myself into an internship before I graduate

It's really cool but what you see in the pictures is what you get, for better or worse. I was a little disappointed to see that the inside is completely inaccessible. It's really just the statue surrounded by little containers.

The whole point of the film is to not grow up to be strong and masculine like Rex. That boys are always wrong and girls are always right. And that little boys should be more feminine and play with girl toys.

I'm always torn between waiting for an unlikely sale and being afraid of missing it.

Are the figures worth much? I don't really care for the figs much for these big sets so I try and sell them for quick cash.

I like it, granted, I think I've spent more time in it than LDD, but it definintly feels like an actual "3D" software so if you're familiar with those its a bit easier to use.
Being able to see fairly accurate estimations of set prices in real time is cool, even if you have to learn to finese pieces so you aren't buying an innocuous but super expensive piece

It's cool, as others said the statue's inside is inaccessible (and honestly a bit gappy from the back), but the little container houses have some neat little details inside. When I went to the Lego Store they actually had the model out in the open instead of in a display case and allowed you to take the roofs off. The containers' insides are quite small but reminded me of the creator expert houses in terms of furniture

I re-imagined Power Miners set 8958 as a Rock Raiders set. I'm really happy with how the roll cage came out. Would love to see other classic style/modern design type builds

I started to work on a tiny mountain side display for my Adventurers crew. The backdrop is just a wip, I want to use some forced perspective with a tiny temple at the top, not sure how to pull that off yet though (or I might just leave it without a back wall)

On the off-chance anyone was looking for a way to keep D.Va securely in her mech, I'm decently happy with pic related. I swapped the 2x2 pink plate in the instructions for a 1x2 white tile and 1x2 white plate. Then I just flip her legs around and stick her on by the lower stud holes on the legs.

Barring the fact that Cobi as a ton of unique snot bricks that Lego has imperfect substitutes for, my problem with them is the opposite oddly enough. Until recently, I found most of their models subpar in looks and the lack of interior to even be able to fit minidolls let alone mega bloks is also wasted opportunity.

Their pieces and selection of them within sets though; they are excellent parts packs for your own tank mocs.

I was kinda shocked. I was looking on Ebay, primarily, and it's good for studs, and 1x1 tiles, but other stuff is expensive. I also go a lot of the blue 1x2x1 hinge pieces, about 5 or 6. Gonna message my dealer later, who only lives up the road from me, actually (Went to school with his wife's son), and see if he has any more trans yellow. I'd pay a premium for them, too. He only charges about £5 a bag for monotone bundles. But if he does me a solid by collecting trans yellow, I've no problem making his pockets jingle.

Evil actions, non-evil motivation.

She is made from the pieces of Emmett's Piece Offering and as such wants everyone to be happy and get along - regardless of what it takes for them to do so.

She offers the heroes what she feels they want, if they refuse she imprisons them and brainwashes them to be 'happy and carefree' via the catchy song.

The Queen has evil actions to reach an endgoal that is based on wanting to make everyone happy. She is arguably an idiotic villain, but that's born from her nature of being the 'piece offering' - a misguided attempt at peace between the siblings that was instantly rejected by the true villain, Bianca.

Rex is resentful and angry due to the Sister knocking him under the Dishwasher. He has seen her get away with countless stuff and never get punished and this mixed with his in-universe loneliness causes him to act out. He is arguably a sympathetic villain.

The only truly evil character in the movie is the sister, Bianca. She destroys Finn's stuff multiple times throughout the movie for her own enjoyment, steals several of his figures and due to her stupidity created Rex by knocking Emmett under the Dishwasher in the original timeline.

Everything in the movie is the sisters fault, but the movie never acknowledges her part in this and instead the brother apologises to her and ends up being forced to encorporate her feminine toys into his story despite them having no place in it.

Ignoring my typo's, the main moral of the movie is that "the past is in the past, you can treasure it, but dont let it prevent you enjoying the present"

It would deal with the idea of AFOL's and the passing of Lego down from one generation to the next. Effectively repeating some aspects of the first movie with the father, in this case Finn, growing close to the kids thanks to allowing them to play with the Lego.

This is all pretty wrong.

The villain of the movie is indeed the sister, but she is also the hero....same with the brother. Finn lets her come down to play and gives a peace offering. Instead, she selfishly destroys and can't make collaborative pieces like Finn and dad started to. She's too young, and doesn't appreciate what Finn has built and has to let her play though. The world becomes bleak and there's less in it, because the sister keeps taking stuff. The brother wants the sister to bugger off. Rex represents the brothers need to have what he wants in the face of someone who rejected his peace offering. Eventually it's revealed the sister is old enough to collaborate and the two can have half of everything and share.

The Duplo Invasion, is followed by subsequent invasions and figures being taken for FIVE YEARS.

The sister is growing up and keeps repeating the mistake that almost caused 'our-mom-aggedon' the first time around and only continues to drive a wedge between herself and her brother.

This is further confounded by the insulting idea that the Lego needs to be split 50/50 - which is her offer. Basically telling Finn to give her half the stuff, the opposite of the father saying for them all to play together with everything at the end of the first movie.

The correct action here would be for the mom to punish the daughter for stealing - however it is clear she has failed to do so for FIVE YEARS - allowing her to acquire more and more of the Lego.

Remember that the amount of Lego in the first movie was enough to fill a basement, yet suddenly it's a barren wasteland with a few small buildings that are all destroyed - this is entirely the fault of the sister who clearly has taken more than half the content of the basement since the events of the first movie.

How many of you have little sisters? I have one, six years younger. Here's my take on TLM2.

Bianca was taking Finn's Lego because he made them look fun. She wanted to say "your cool, I dig your style, please teach me your ways." Unfortunately she's 8 and has know idea how to express that. Even if she could, Finn wouldn't know how to respond.
The only way for her to communicate her feelings is to emulate him. She saw her brother steal and fuck with her Dad's lego,through a huge narrative, as the appropriate entrance into playing together.

Rex is Finn as a freshman who spent middle school wanting to play lego but felt discouraged because Bianca ruined it. So he passively aggressively made it not fun for her by being a dick, because that's male puberty for you.

Now in highschool, Finn doesn't have good interpersonal skills with girls, he has his sister though. He couldn't say "hey sis, there's a girl at school I like, any advice?" because kids are dumb. So he has to disassemble Rex, not because of Toxic Masculinity, but as normal growth. You can't push girls into mud as you enter teenage years. All this has to be compressed into a comedy movie so it's really muddled.

As Finn becomes an adult he understands what Bianca is going through. He can't change the past but he can change who he is now by indulging her childish desires.

Here's the bitter pill. If Finn chooses Rex he'll become an afol autist that pushes people away because they don't see the Ultimate Gentleman. If he chooses Emmett he'll become a beta fag that let's people walk all over him whose only happiness is not offending anyone.

The Best of both starts by forgiving her, for the same thing his Dad forgave him, he can teach her how to make her creations bigger and better. They will both learn how to collaborate, a very important aspect of life.

The Dad didn't care if they played together, just that the sister was to have access to playing with legos too. None of the legos belong to either of them. They're supposed to share and they refuse and it turns into an ugly feud that lasts 5 years. The sister proposes they could each have half. This proposal is eventually rejected and then they end up with none and then share and build together.

The Spidermech is gay cause it just seems unfinished cause of the shitty cockpit. The Venom mech is absolutely great, and the only thing that makes it a mech is that there are two little joysticks and a place to sit Venom in the back. It's stupidly easy to modify, as you just use a 1x2 cheese slope +the two joysticks to cover that area up (the joysticks just look like some of the venom stuff rising up around his body, so it's pretty cool).

firstly because I didn't save every moc /lg/ made over the year, but more importantly I think it would be better if everyone posted their 1 or 2 favourite mocs and those get combined into one pic. I once had a (female) delivery driver try to FOLD A CLASSIC SPACE CRATER BASEPLATE MARKED "DO NOT BEND OR FOLD" to try and fit it into a box that was half the width.

If you're in the USA, there's a high chance that the specialized parcel transport company hands it off to the USPS for the last leg of the delivery because it's cheaper for the specialized parcel transport company.

I feel bad for the kids who don't get to see the well-produced catalog dioramas anymore.

When I was a kid I used to spend hours poring over every catalog page and thinking about how to recreate the non-Lego terrain like the cliffs and water using paper mache and modeling clay and epoxy. I think the Lego catalogs were a big part of why I was so interested in making realistic miniature scenery as a kid.

That and the Harryhausen movies.

Tried a little redesign, make it a little more modern and utilitarian. Lengthened the fuselage a bit, and added an opening cockpit. Not final, as I'm still tinkering with it, but this is it'a progress.

I really do need more light grey plates.

Also adding an interior, too.
