This only works for enclosed spaces and it's mostly to get rid of smells. It'll do jack shit if shelf isn't enclosed, because there's far more moisture around it than it can really handle.
Sicne it's passive, only the moisture that's directly around it will get sucked in. Your figures will still collect any humidity, which is unlikely to be much and more likely just the plastic itself getting sticky (soft and/or plasticizers leaking).
You need air conditioning, which will actively suck up moisture in the entire room by circulating the air and it'll keep your toys from getting too hot to degrade rapidly.
A portable AC costs a few hundred bucks, but they're worth it, not only for the longevity of everything you own but having a more comfortable life, because fuck the heat.
Make sure it also has a dehumidifier. Some ACs spit that humidity back out to increase the coldness and you don't want that shit.
