>>7389114>>7389131It’s alright I guess.
The Cybertron memories bits are pretty cool, though at times they feel too brief or incomplete storytelling wise.
A few interesting characters who will probably be more relevant in the second season are introduced given brief focuses. Bumblebee’s nemesis, Shadow striker, who Really wants to revenge kill him has an interesting story.
The Earth story didn’t really engage me despite having some stuff happening. That may be due to the limited cast, which probably won’t be an issue next season;
Earth Autobots:
-Brain-damaged Bee is annoying and speaks in audio-clip references.
-Windblade is fine, but mostly ends up babysitting Bee. She’s also a bit more of a warrior take on the character, like in RiD, despite also being a mind-guide cityspeaker.
-Grimlock, who’s shows up later, is eh. The intelligent in robot-mode, angry idiot in Dino mode concept is a neat idea, but his robot self is that type of ‘refined’ eccentric adventure who says stuff like “forthwith” and I’m not really a fan. Also it’s implied he did that mode-intelligence thing to himself intentionally which I don’t feel the sufficiently justified.
-Teletran feels a bit like a different version of RiD Fixit.
Earth Deceptions:
Mostly just Slipstream bumbling around with her 4 or so not particularly distinguishable, incompetent, Seeker lackies.
She and her squad try to capture Bee and Windblade and/or locate the Ark, while the bots usually run circles around them, and then she gets held at by one of her bosses, Shockwave or Starscream, who show up in person towards the end.
There’s also one notable death which felt like a huge waste of that character’s potential.
Mostly season 1 feels like it’s the set up to a potentially more interesting show.
