Hasbro is in the unique position Disney is in where they have no major competition like they did in their golden age. When this happens, a company usually starts churning out shit and wondering why the public isn't showing up to throw money at stuff anymore, see pic related.
Only when you have competition is there a drive to make something good in the first place, and eliminate the chaff in the ranks until you get solid teams producing solid work.
Bootleggers and 3p represent competition for Hasbro they sorely need right now. That's whats keeping the Transformers brand from falling into the same pit that Black Series Star Wars is sinking in. You have to continue to innovate, create visual styles, improve on your engineering, and invent new storylines and gimmicks in order to keep a leg up on the market.
