>>7400620Theft steals an original.
Copying for personal use ain't a crime.
See, legally we went over this in the era of radio. The companies that released the recordings of live bands all sued saying it'd kill the music industry, and the station paying a small amount for the product then giving it to who the fuck ever for free was theft on a wide scale that the radio stations was enabling.
Courts decided radio wasn't theft, specifically since the original work hadn't been taken and by releasing the product into the public as opposed to keeping it in a venue where you can lock the doors they had waved their right to complain about it.
Judges have misapplied the law for digital downloads over the years due to poor understanding of the technology by old dudes, but the actual court precedent set is once you put it out into the public space for sale, the only thing that's illegal is making a copy then selling that copy. Putting it back out for free falls under the same rules as radio broadcasts of big band music.
As for moral? This is 4chan. There's four boards between us and the Nazis who argue that fucking children should be legal, and nine between us and the guys who are also distributing music for free.
At least with a bootleg some Chinese dude will buy better meat for dinner and thus a dog's life is spared. you buy from Hasbro, and your money is going into the pocket of some exec who's gonna go jack off to a Chinese chick stepping on puppy heads in high heels.
