I genuinely like Overlord, Black Shadow too. They're some of, if not the, best things to come out TR.

I'm glad we're getting one more retool out of the mold. But honestly I wish we'd gotten more. I've seen a lot of good customs made out of each of them; they have potential.

You know who doesn't get much mention? This fella. He's kind of endearing. Like, airliner mode is pretty fun, not great at hiding some kibble, but I like it. What is great though is how well the very tidy tanker mode hides the plane mode. I kind of wish I hadn't passed on Prime from this mold and I definitely wish I'd gotten the black one.

Apart from the crummy battle damage, Soundwave is one of those figures in this line that has WAY too much greebling. Him and Shockwave both have so much compared to everyone else, it's almost like they were designed for a completely different line. Also his chest window is way too big, it kind of obliterates his proportions; he looks like a big TV screen with some robot parts around it. Throw in his literally nothing alt mode and this is a pretty sub-par mold, but Soundwave is always one of those characters who seems to get a pass as long as he's GEEWUN enough. Case in point, MP-13, which probably has to be one of the most overrated MP figures.

I mean, dai Atlas is way overdue a new toy. He and Big Convoy seem to be the most neglected JP Leaders when it comes to new toys and homages. Also don't count Sky Garry and Grandus out yet when we've only known about Star convoy for all of 2 weeks.

Yeah, Starscream is pretty bad. He's even worse in actual recent photos because he's clearly made of that awful, chintzy, semi-translucent brownish-gray plastic that Hasbro can't seem to get away from. Coupled with the awful battle damage he got, he literally looks like a toy that got fished out of the trash.

But it is all G1 and I would have to disagree either way.
I think what bugs me is how cheap and dull the plastic looks. Combined with lack of paint apps outside of the smears of silver it gives them a tonka vibe that I can't get over on figures that cost as much as they do. Also I can't stand the pointless greebles and fairly lazy alt-modes.
When I can get 1:1 KOs of MP figures of the same designs of most of these guys for only a few bucks more I just can't see the point.

It really only works for me when it's lighter on darker. Like the silver on Megs' legs looks fine, but I don't like the splotches on his silver. Same with Starscream, but most of his is dark on light so I hate it even more.

I definitely don't plan to get all the seekers as this mold, but maybe Thundercracker since he's my favorite. Or I could wait and see what retools (if any) happen. I mean, I wasn't planning to get the Megatron mold until the weirdo tiger-stripe one was announced.

I think most (sane) people ignore #3 because the whole thing was animated by AKOM who, among other things, also animated Galvatron celebrating his own imminent rescue just a couple of episodes earlier (not to mention the flashback shows like eight Constructicons anyway), so it's easier to just dismiss it as yet another animation error.

Siege is confirmed for four colors so far, and probably more over the next two years no doubt. I don't like the hollow sides on him, and the head just looks bad. The sculpting is also like current era MP smoothness levels of bad. And the null rays being unable to move certain ways because of the wings is a horrible design, to the point that there was several 3p kits just to fix it, with an add on part, or the other simpler option of 3p null rays that were smaller.

Naw. In Beast Wars their pre-organic robot modes are different.

Also, some kept their original names. Megatron, Prowl, Prowl II, Ironhide, Silverbolt, Airrazor, etc.

You seem to be taking this as an attack on G1. People seem to be pretty understanding that the point of these shows is to sell toys, and the animators do what they do because of budget and time restrictions. That doesn't mean things couldn't have been done better, or can't be changed 35-years down the road. Having earth mode parts when the alt-mode is cybertronian is goofy, it's also something that could be updated.

Honestly, my complaint about the movies extends to Bumblebee too. Also Animated and to a small extent Prime.

Flat and smooth metal, human-like proportions, and having a nose.

To be fair, the backstory is they are a colony ship designed to explore and make contact with other species, equipped with the ability to take on both mechanical and organic alt modes in order to observe and not disturb primitive species. Also, some of them are humans who have transferred their souls into Cybertronian bodies originally designed to transfer the Sparks of the fallen before their original body dies which has been adapted to extend the lifespan of the Autobots’ favorite race.

So there’s a lot of explanations for spots. Still had a previous organic mode from the last planet they visited, seats like in that toy posted, being a fashionable human, being a fashionable Cybertronian...or the meta explanation and it not representing the in-universe reality.

They also never use their names except for Megatron's. A later explanation for the name changes could have been due to personality changes from taking beast forms.

Doesn't matter. It's what's shown and in media that counts, and that's that Cheetor had a beast head, and yellow body, and often shown with spots as a car.

That really doesn't seem like a big coincidence, no. Also, Animated Cheetor is a different character. That said, I'd have a bigger issue with it if it had an actual cheetah head on the chest, and cheetah legs hanging off the back, because that's essentially what you've got going on with the G1 Cybertronian characters, with parts literally from their Earth forms that have nothing to do with their Cybertronian forms.

yeah, Galvatron could pretty easily be turned into an apeface, but I think Siege Starscreams head can be removed and replaced with a headmaster without an issue.
But I do definitely think astrotrain would be a starscream retool. The robot modes are too similar. Odds are it'll be a slightly different transformation for the shuttle mode, and he'll come with weaponizer parts like soundwave to make an additional train car and rocket
