Why does other companies like mafex and revoltech actually makes better movie accurate toys than hasbros ?
And why do they have to buy these cheap looking hasbro toys like marvel legends when they can pay a nice expensive movie accurate figure from mafex or a revoltech but they're to reddit to do anything

There is a larger market for high-quality collectors figures in Japan, and the pricing model works differently over there. In Japan, if your figure needs a few extra accessories or paint apps to be truly great, no big deal, we'll tack another 500 yen onto the price. In the US, toyline prices are set in stone and you need to work backwards from there, cutting anything that doesn't fit inside your budget. Heck, if one figure ends up taking up too much of the budget, another one in the wave is probably gonna suffer for it.

And said budget is typically smaller than what Japan is working with too. A collectors figure in Japan these days averages $50-80, whereas a standard "collectors" figure in the US like a Marvel Legends, SW Black Series, or NECA fig barely reaches past the $20 mark.

Does Hasbro even pay for the license to use actor likenesses? Maybe their face sculpts are inaccurate on purpose. But if they do pay for them it's a waste, with quality like theirs they might as well not bother.

Look man, I can give you a laundry list of ways Hasbro is still fucking up on Marvel Legends, but their likenesses have improved a ton since they started doing the digital face prints. I give them a lot of credit for that. They'll still put out stinkers once in a while, but as a whole the heads we're getting now are worlds better than what we used to get.

Based on looks alone, the NECA Ledger Joker is the most movie accurate, but compare it to the 2.0 Mafex Joker and it's still lacking on the looks department despite being a revision, it's still the Joker with most accessories.
Revo Vader is basically a scam because you're paying limited edition price for an average Vader with a segmented cape but zero fucking pegs on the tunic, again a strong point is the high number of accessories.
So yeah, different target markets, different priorities, I really really like many NECA figures just for the looks, I'd ignore the lack of articulation, accessories and weak material if they were 1/12 but no fuck that extra inch.
I've been wondering if bootleg factories in China would be willing to make smaller figures.

Hasbro is not a premium figure maker, Like Mezco, Hot Toys. They make $20 figures, the inbetween Kids Meal and for 16+ year olds only figures.
