Yeah that totally looks good and no one can see the obvious lines on your background. They also definitely can't tell that the lighting on the figure is inconsistent with the lighting of the background and it certainly doesn't make it look amateurish and low-rent.

I wonder is putting a piece of transparent plastic between the figure and screen would obscure the pixelation and screenbanding and make for a more natural-looking image, which is what the guys at ILM do when they hang what are essentially giant showercurtains in from of the LED background displays when filming cockpit scenes in the new Star Wars films.

The idea of using a computer monitor as a backdrop for figure pictures is solid but this guy's pictures are awful. The background shouldn't be more in-focus than the figure, and this guy doesn't even attempt to make the lighting match the background or compliment the figure in any way. Using something better than some shitty laptop screen would probably also help.
