The challenge is to build a kickass automobile of any sort. From a road legal pickup truck to a track prepared race car, it does not matter, just make an auto to the best of your abilities. Here are the rules.

>must be minifig scale (4-8 studs wide)
>must post with email and timestamp
>can be any type of automobile (i.e. tow-truck, golf cart, F1 car, etc.)
>only LEGO bricks must be used, no chink knock-offs

So I expanded out my cloud city landing platform so there is more room for me to land ships and play but I need help!

How do I tackle the new half not having any of the tiling as the original? Do I leave it blank or do some new asymetrical tiling witb dark gray?

When I think of why I love Lego, I think of themes like Power Miners, Atlantis, etc.
Seemingly generic on the surface, but the sets go all the fuck in with the different designs and ideas, expanding on the core theme as much as possible. They felt imaginative and unique.

Are typical fantasy themes bad/wrong for girls? Absolutely not! But I cannot tell the difference between Friends/Elves and other generic dolls and toys. They're too generic in my eyes

80% of the time when I order a single figure, the package is ridiculously oversized in relation.
Either way, it's bound to be in a padded envelope, and some sellers bother to wrap the fig in bubble wrap and packing tape to the point that it takes half an hour to open it.

The hair is part of the regular set inventory rather than an extra part for the fig, for some reason.

I mean i can watch but over all these years i developed a taste and mind that can tell is movie good or bad and is it worth watching.

What's the most you've spent on a Lego set?

I just spent $350 on a sealed Legoredo. Kind of an impulse buy and not sure if I should've waited for a used one in good shape since I'm going to build it.

Thought you meant the friends minifigures. And overall friends is very successfull. Only the things that arnt girls stuff, like that racing theme, dont sell. Everything girly does sell very well!

Its not Lego Power Rangers but Lego Anime. And sure the yearly theme villian change is strong in Lego, as far as i can think since the had castles and space stuff. I dont thing its necessarly to change the theme after a year, but it favors to buy the same character/vehicle again.
And i like the Ninjago series. Its not bad, it has ups and down.

The mechs are ok, but builds have come a long way since then, so I don't miss it. The anime hair pieces are the only thing I wish we still had. Ninjago delivers most of what Exo-Force did and even the characters were similar, complete with a Sensei Wu guy.

I personally always ask myself "what parts does the set feature?" and go from there.
Does it feature a slew of joints? You could make a robot out of it. Does it have wheels? Make a different vehicle out of it - doesn't have to be car or something since wheels also make some decent jet exhausts.
And so on.
Then I start with a bitch-basic "skeleton" by slapping some of the bricks together into the general shape of what I want to build.
Afterwards I add more and more bricks to it to flesh out the model, sometimes completely redesigning a few sections in the progress in case something doesn't work out as planned or I just end up with an idea that's even better than what I initially wanted.
Finally I try to add the last details to it which also includes taking away already attached parts away to use them somewhere else and perhaps substitute them with some bricks that are left.

Don't get discouraged when something doesn't turn out as well as you hoped; keep in mind that you're working with a limited amount of bricks in specific colors and shapes so don't expect the end result to look like one of those Asian mocs with a gazillion bricks and more illegal connections than a Mexican drug lord.

Here's some inspiration for you to get a feeling for what you can actually do with that set.

If you dont feel like you are that creative (but i thnk you are, just hidden) try first to mix the shark with the crab.
If you feel like "If i do this brick there i even can change the shark into a stingray" than go for other animals like stingray or octopus. And Octupus is a nice idea, since you have some hinges. Maybe not fully 8 arms, but still it sounds like a good project to try it.

Well I finally saw The Lego Movie 2 and you guys were right. The whole movie is a ridiculous girl power fantasy.

Being male is wrong, being masculine is wrong. They make Rex the main villain and he represents all men.

In the end the young boy character gets feminised and winds up playing with girl toys.

They even have a cameo for abortion advocate Ruth Bader Ginsburg and everyone cheers. This character allegedly exists in the mind of a little girl. How would a 5 year old girl even know about abortion advocate Ruth Bader Ginsburg?

Greetings LG!
So today after rebuilding and upgrading one of my Blacktron fighters I decided to open my Benny's Space Squad sets.
I had four of them, popped one open, assembled the minifigures and immediately all my enthusiasm dropped.
Something looked odd and out of place. It took a few minutes of staring and trying to pin it down until I realized it was the heads!

The cheap looking and cheap feeling heads completely ruin the little guys for me.
One head swap later I've fixed the problem - or so I think. Am I crazy? Has anyone else noticed this?

The eyes on the original head (pictured in hand) appear too close, and the plastic has an unusual and unappealing color.

Am I alone in noticing this and feeling this way?

I have high attention to detail, it is true.
I do not like the new helmet shape, I much preferred the old ones. Out of those - I preferred the original one most, but understand why they made the thick chinstrap one the standard soon after.
It's that "old TV set" shape opening on the old helmets that I enjoyed and that is missing from the new one.

The speck of dust does not bother me, it is, just as you and me transitory and will soon be gone. Just as we hope to have our day, so to it must have its.

You could try prototyping some parts in LDD or so, like the heads, and try to find something that works. Something like the wings could be difficult because of the color combination and shapes but for this you could look to and steal the methods of other builds if necessary.

I liked some of the middle of the theme sets, after they figured things out but before they ran out of ideas and things were repetitive. The focus of the theme is how to make a set look big without using too many big expensive blocks. Realistically they can't make the theme about big player built castles without sets being hugely over priced for what you get. Look at the ocean temple.

The most refreshing part of the theme was that it wasn't vehicles, but there is only so much you can do with terrain and a few biomes based on a game that is deliberately lacking detail. For some reason I really like the skeletons with block heads and helmet.

It seems like last year was an attempt to reinvigorate the theme with smaller sets and then only 3 sets in the 2nd wave. This year both actual sets seem disappointing, but there were kids going crazy for the buildable figures when I was looking at them at the lego store. It's too bad they waited so long into the theme to try new player figure skins and they never did a tree house or tower build.

What makes the Jango Slave 1 so expensive to part out its only 352 pieces for the build.

Pic related is the parts without minifigures and it's still 80 dollars raw parts and when all the bricklinkers charge shipping you are looking at 5 10 15, 20 dollars in shipping.

i personally only use official stickers applied on the piece they were intentionally intended for. (i'm pretty purist i guess)

not sure how i'd fare with those stickersheets in magazines that never had an intended purpose, didn't those exist back in the classic town era? I also thought there were some teasered things with stickersheets you could buy in the upcoming year IIRC.

It's a shaping issue more than size desu, I had a version with the shells used for the hips but trying to get everything to work without super wide shoulders is a pain.

I wish we'd gotten a buildable-figure scale tantive trooper helmet, but they probably would have made it one piece with the head.

The kibble is actually mostly articulated enough to move around the limbs (it's just annoying to set up in LDD)

okay guys so this is a big ask and ive posted in all the block related boards, so when i was a kid maybe around 1999 - 2004 there was a line of military block toy sets that had vehicles like stealth fighters, and apaches, and there was a tank, they were all a few pieces, like the tank was just 1 piece covered in studs, the stealth fighter was the body, ejector seat, cockpit glass, 2 wings and the back 2 wings were 1 piece.

The figures were similar sizes to the modern Mega bloks figs, but had much less and wierd articulation like the elbows would spin instead of bend?

there were deser themes/ camo themes and like a black and sliver almost spec ops theme, te bad guys wore red i remember a ninja guy , and a bulkier strong hulk like ginger man who had bigger arms and body than all the other figs.

i think each set had an action feature like the shitty picture i drew was a blue Gray metallic square base that had 4 'doors' that could open it up, but the action feature was a black foam bullet shooter that loooked like a joy stick?

thats all i can really remember, but there was a red flag in each set that had the name of the company or theme that made them, it definetly wasnt lego, and ive looked at all the past mega bloks sets and dont recognise any of them, they were almost like a GI joe, lego cross over?

if anyone knows the name of the theme or also remembers any what other sets could you get?

Hi Lego General,

I haven't done much with Lego since I was a kid but I got the sudden urge to buy a set and build something. Could you recommend me a set that is:

a) cheap and available
b) fun to build
c) takes longer than 30 minutes

I was looking at some of the old Creator houses and they seem nice enough but the newer ones seem less exiting.

I'm not really a set guy, and I've never bought any these so take this with a grain of salt, but the Speed Champions line looks pretty good. 10$-20$ for a minifig-scale car with some pretty advanced building techniques.

Decent mini-fig architecture sets seem to be $50 minimum, which isn't what I'd call cheap.

I bought this pretty decent box condition and has the figs my own only problem is the guy said he was missing a part I asked what part he said its only one part come to find out after I paid its not a he but a woman selling her husbands old set who she was told was just missing a part.

Ok if its a measly 10 cent part Idc and can just order it since well its the box, instruction, figs, and all that presentation which I like. But if its something like Jangos face missing and or other parts I'ma be pissed and not sure what to do if that since that could be costly to order.

I'm currently working on planning out and buying the pieces for a castle moc. It's going to be a castle built into a mountainside with a waterfall to one side and a river that wraps around. I have $2000 set aside into a savings account and have like 100 pictures of parts of other mocs I want to incorporate into it. It's a fairly large scale project I'm going to spend months on.

An idea that popped into my head is to plumb the moc like a fountain. I could get a little pump and tubing and run water through the moc from the stream to the waterfall.

Is this heresy and would I be better off doing the water in actual lego pieces? I don't really see anyone else incorporating natural elements into their creations.

You better post pics of it anon, I look forward to seeing the completed MOC. Personally, I'd stick with making the water out of Lego because it fits with the MOC and a talented builder can make it look really pleasing.. I don't know about the effects of continual exposure to water, but Lego should be fine. It's a cheaper alternative, but remember that Lego isn't waterproof.

I'm hoping to get it done by Brickcon 2019.

Right now I have about 3,000 pieces ordered for the parts I've designed on LDD.

I'm thinking the bricks should be fine with exposure to running water. Lego is a very high quality ABS plastic, shouldn't absorb, discolor or smooth with clean, distilled water.

And it'll end up taking up more bricks since I'll be sculpting out the river beds.

Depends on what you were going for. If it's a statue some of the shapes could have been worked a bit better so as to hide the joints or emphasize the shapes of the original (e.g. feet), if it's intended to be articulated the same applies, but at the same time the articulation could do with improvement. I think you did an alright job on the face shape and so forth, though the hollow stud eyes make it look kinda soulless. Keep in mind this is all personal opinion. I think considering the very simple look of the Vault Boy you've done a decent job.

Looks somewhat related to the new minecraft figure sets. If you haven't, you may want to check those out for ideas/inspiration. I don't love the articulation on them, but it's minecraft accurate and lets them use a new SNOT piece for the feet to stand on studded surfaces.

Ah thanks. I suspected it was the second one but I figured it was better to check here first to be sure. The jewel thief one looks good but I like the idea of the light blue jumpsuit with tactical gear and a harness. It should also work as a flight suit for the blue power jet.

I remember like way back in my childhood my mom took me to this store and i could pick a matchbox car. I chose this fucking amazing black lifted ford bronco 2 with orange piranhas on it, then in the queue to the cashregister this other kid who could also buy a car walked up to me with this chrome audi supercar and said: 'my car is better/prettier than yours lmao'.

Like i'm not a faggot(tl note:retarded carculture autist) but i think most kids if they have the option they'll pick the better/exotic/expensive/faster car. Japanese cars often don't have that alure as much as the current lineup of iconic cars.
I'd love an NSX or Skyline or something though. I think those could translate well to lego.

Nah the vanilla smile has gone through a few revisions in shape of the print. I'm an early 2000's baby when it comes to Lego so the vanilla smile looks less distant from my childhood than yours, but even when I first started learning Lego's real life Lore I noticed that classic space figs had a different smile.

I agree, but is Speed Champions popular with kids? Only Target and the Lego store stock the theme near me and they move slower than other themes. I'd have liked them as a kid but I was an outlier.
