One of the coolest kids meal promotions of all time. To have an episode of TMNT on VHS for only a few dollars at the time was HUGE! VHS were very expensive and most people could only rent them. We owned less than 10 and a few were pre-recorded movies.

The creative team of product design and sculpting had more freedom to develop the line to their own standards. Actually it's all cartoon screen accurate. What works on screen don't have to work on toys.

Strangely, the thing I'm most nostalgic over with TMNT are these cassette/comic combos. I listened to the adaptation of the first five episodes and these three goofy Archi stories more times than I actually watched any of the cartoons.

The original style of articulation would have been tough to pull off in resin. I'm pretty glad there are even magnets, a lot of resin pieces like this tend to just be unarticulated bricks.

My family had two VCRs and we would tape the movies we rented from blockbuster. Modern cartoons are trash, almost without exception. I don't know how anybody over the age of 12 can stand watching something that looks like it was drawn using an etch-a-sketch. The voices are always awful, too.
