Are transformers collectors looked down upon because the toyline is generally mediocre by "collector" standards or because the fandom made itself famous for some of the most cancerous practices in toy collecting?

Fans of other franchises are just jealous at how long TF has survived and how many toylines it continually gets.

My buddy is a salty TMNT fan who's anger toward my TF fandom never seems to waver and it's based entirely on the fact that Transformers has become more popular post early 90s, he can't let go of the glory days of Turtle domination.
