That's five different feline designs. Are these into the sketch phase yet, or are they just possible future concepts?

If you're looking for votes, I think the saber tooth tiger and the sauropod (brontosaurus or something like that) would be my picks for next concepts to see reality. I think the sauropod would be especially cute and fun.

My favorites are the Dinosaurs and Ice Age Mammals, but then I'm always surprised by how appealing the modern animals end up being.

I'm pretty ecstatic that we are getting a tough, predatory looking Saber Tooth Tiger. Moving into insect and marine life has me more than a little excited at the possibilities. Not to mention that being able to build up a collection of silly weapons and accessories to share between beastboxes is a big jump in overall play factor. If I could make a wishlist it'd probably look something like this.

See I always felt Dio was more T-Rex than raptor. Can't see how they'd make a T-Rex model that much different than our current raptor model. I'd say something like a Spinosaurus would be better. Could be similar size too to really get that even rivalry feel going on.

I know a while back they were considering making the Whale Beastbox big enough to house an actual Jojo, but were potentially concerned at that being something that their customers wouldn't support price wise. So I'd like to propose a question here to others in the thread: Would you be interested in larger beastboxes with a heavier price tag?

Personally, I would be so long as it was an animal or design that deserved such a treatment. A massive Brachiosaurus. A huge DIO REX. The whale. Especially if they added in clever features maybe like the box form being 4 box charges wide and tall so it could still clip into a formation of boxes and become part of the structure. Or if it could even carry box chargers or other beast boxes.

Imagine a big queen ant or queen bee with 2 or 3 normal beastboxes sized soldiers/workers that form up with it to make a bigger box.

I think a dragon similar to the matrix monster could work, the brachiosaurus idea would be top notch given it commemorates the prehistoric start to the line. Queen bee/ant is interested (more so bee than ant). Like I said the line is ramping up so it hopefully is only a matter of time before we see a new "uber box" edition.

The smell isn't very pronounced when you open it and it still isn't very pronounced a year later. It doesn't fade significantly because it wasn't much of a scent in the first place. It's a nice colorway, I'd go ahead and pick it up.

I have the Camo DIO on the way right now so I'll be sure to take a few pictures. A really cool thing about the Camo is that none of them are identical. If you look at different pictures of them online, you can see that all of them have their own pattern.

Just checked Tmall and couldn't find it. Checked Ebay, Amazon, BBTs, Amiami, HLJ to see if I could help a dude out. Found nothing. Its kinda cool to see stuff vanishing as it means people's current collections will be more unique going into the future, but it sucks for people who miss out. G-core Jojo is pretty similar. Just like Dio though, Jojo is nowhere near done. Stryker has said they are his favorites and they are getting new 1.5 molds that allow for customization and accessories. Aside from doing a 1.5 version in the original colors for both, he intends for all the subsequent colorways to be totally original and not just repeats. So there is no telling what sort of color options we may get in the future.

Tracking is always weird on that stuff. For example just this month I had two packages come from China where the tracking was days and days behind its actual progress until they showed up totally unexpectedly and still didn't show as delivered for days afterward. Try not to sweat it too much.

You mean from Taobao/Tmall? They only have air freight to the USA. After you pay for forwarding, it usually takes like 3~5 business days to dispatch from the warehouse and clear the chinese customs. Actual trip is <24 hours since it's by air. After that it depends on your customs and last-mile courier, not in burgerland so idk.

Thats interesting. You need the license just to be able to use those colors? That seems pretty intense if you can literally copyright the combination of just a few colors. Otherwise, I'm sure just the colors even without an official tie-in would be a huge hit.

I thought that might be the reason. The brand has done a great job securing licenses. I think a lot of us were surprised with Alien at first, but now going into Predator, Getter Robo, Marvel. With a little luck you may even just be able to make a straight up EVA 01 Megabox. I'd go nuts for a Godzilla or Mechagodzilla done in the Mega/Beastbox style. That would be a dream toy.

A lot of the war tale stuff seems to be very limited edition, so at this point it's best to grab them while you can. Recently ordered one off of TMall and after paying for the forwarding shipping I got news of it for about a day or two before radio silence on its whereabouts. Same thing happened to me. Then after a few days it finally updated. I wouldn't worry unless a week or two of zero updates has occurred. If you're using SAL or RSAL though, I'd make it 3 weeks.

Just got my Alien in and I absolutely love her. Kind of a pain to transform into a box, but it's also really impressive at the same time. I'm sure it'll get easier the more I do it.

Only real complaint with it is that the transformation seems prone to scratching her up. There's already a nasty scratch on her chin, but it's possible that I'm just an idiot that was too rough. Still, this is a really fucking awesome toy, and doubly so with the extras it comes with.

I'm curious about this as well. I don't think the Hippo or Rhino ever appeared on Amazon. Might just be that Amazon is a much lower priority than distributing to say BigBadToystore? But then again it seems like the Amazon store is all direct sales, which would mean they get to keep a lot more of the profit than what they would get selling through other online retail. I'm totally in the dark desu.

Thank God I learned how to use Tmall/Taobao so I could just get things directly. Shocked at how fast it was to get over here as well. Made my order this last weekend and its on track for delivery by Monday.

Google translate is a big help. Its about 80% accurate or so. Spend a little time checking some stuff out and you can make use of Taobao/Tmall without middlemen fees. Its pretty fast and fantastic so far.

Thats what I just did, but I live in the US so mileage may vary to where Taobao's warehouses will ship out to. Basically they just do it for you. They get the package, you tell them to send it to you, pay shipping for that and its done. Was cheaper than the middlemen I was using and faster to boot. Like I said I ordered last weekend and its already in the US and on track to be here Monday.

You still need a middleman/forwarder, but there are now official no-frills ones for certain countries (CAN USA SG MY TW HK AUS NZ), you'll be automatically given the selection to use these forwarders when you input an address in these regions. The goods will be sent to their warehouse and you'll need to consolidate and forward your stuff. All this is done through world.taobao.com so that makes it convenient and cheap.

The consolidation service is important because most forwarders charge on 1st kg basis, and Beast Boxes are like 200gm each...

Not counting Megabox stuff, I think I'm missing 3 exclusives and it kills me. The almost totally white designer con DIO. The obnoxiously blue and red one, and the green one that is basically a holy grail for me. Relatively cheap, combined with tons of colorways, great designs, a satisfying transformation gimmick, limited availabilities to chase and perfect storage makes these little guys insanely appealing to collect.

It doesn't really have a system, but shops there use workarounds for POs. Incidentally the two relevant tmall shops here have the most common PO methods:

52toys requires full payment but they set the dispatch time to something really long, like 90 days.

Bandai China requires you pay a deposit on the pre-order listing, then wait for them to put up a balance listing when the item is released. Different shops have different ways of notifying you of their releases, but it usually involves some chinese msg app, like WeChat, QQ or AliWangWang.

D10 or DIO is a succesful beastbox design that works properly and assumedly has a functioning AI. D09(Dog) or Ghostdog was a prototype that wasn't fully functional and was thought inferior to D10. So D09 has a grudge against D10. Its sort've a Protoman and Megaman kind of deal I think. So D09 has a more primitive and less expressive head than D10, but is probably tougher.

Basically. I'll always be forever booty blasted that I'll never get the Beijing Comic Con Dio, but its not really fair to the people who tracked it down for it to just be reissued. My advice to people who aren't interested in scouring the internet or paying high aftermarket on lots of colorways, is just to look to the future. There will be tons more interesting colors and exclusives to go after, and they'll be at base prices.

My trash bootlegs arrived today and they lived up to all the negative comments that first anon posted and then some. Total junk. Most surfaces are kind of glossy and scratched up vs the matte of the real Dios. Nubs everywhere that would trigger the Gunpla thread hard, some sharp enough to cut myself with. They fall apart when transforming but still some bits are such a tight fit that I destroyed a number of pieces seeing how it all came apart. I took a drill to one set of eyes to figure out how they lock the two main head pieces together, those would be super hard to extract without sacrificing something for sure. Only one of of four ankles extends more than a millimeter so I gave up on that feature. I at least managed to save the right pieces to part-swap the color scheme I wanted, but the blue one was missing the back of the head so it's not even complete. Definitely a case of getting what you pay for.

All that said, the construction is pretty neat and this would be a great little model kit, which would make it super easy to customize. I doubt that'll ever happen but if it did I'd throw money at it in a heartbeat.

Glad you were able to assemble it with the other pieces. My plan is to take them apart and try something similar. I might start by sanding a bunch of the horrific nubs off and possibly using something to loosen these incredibly tight joints a bit. Transforming one of my blue knock-offs is an exercise in total finger destruction. I'd like to try taking all the black parts from the yellow Knock-off (if it ever shows up) and mixing them with the pink parts to make a pink and black DIO with a punk vibe. I'm sure we'll both have cancer soon from the medical waste used in the plastic for these bootlegs.

They're They're an "antistress" fidgety thing. Way better (and less aspie) than a spinner. If you go to AliExpress and search the words "infinity cube stress" you'll get a plethora of options. I collected a few, and I've found that they look good as extra pieces in photo compositions.

Update as of today/yesterday, refund period on Taobao expired (because I was stupid and didn't realize you had to pay forwarding shipping until 10-12 days before the refund expiration date) and still no update since the 16th. Should I give up on it coming in or still hold out hope? Was my second all time favorite box (War Tale Delta) and obviously not available any more. Just a shame it didn't come on Amazon because I've never had a problem with shipping/buying on there, and having this happen with my first Taobao purchase is discouraging.

Wasn't super sure of Rhyden/the hippo when they were first announced but after getting Rhyden from amazon a couple of days ago I have to say it's a solid addition to the line. Not as much articulation as some of the other boxes but having a stocky/tanky build is a nice change of pace.

You probably mean wary. As in cautious. This is a common near-homophone that I see crop up pretty often.

Saying "was weary of it before" implies past ownership (and subsequent tiring) of it, whereas "was wary of it before" just means you felt uncertain about it. Which I think is the idea you're trying to communicate.

I don't know if you're unlucky, overly-critical, or if you're just intentionally spreading misinformation, but I bought 6 of the KOs to customize, and mine are legit OK. They're far better than I expected, especially considering I got all 6 for the price of one original.

They have a few little sprue nubs that were easily trimmed off. No big deal. The joints are tight, though not too tight. I never felt like anything was going to break. They easily came apart for painting prep, and the plastic is no worse or more blemished than any of my authentic Dios. They lack paint apps and tampos, but for customizing that's fine.

The only real issue I had is that the arms are a slightly altered mold and won't bend down as far as the originals. But again, some sanding and you're gold. Nothing a plamo enthusiast or hasbro transformers collector can't handle. For ~3$ they're great.

Maybe over critical to temper expectations but I was completely honest with my experience. I wasn't exaggerating when I said the nubs were sharp enough to cut me. One did. They're cheap bootlegs that feel like cheap bootlegs. I spent $8 to cobble together the one I wanted from the two I ordered and I couldn't even do that right because one shipped without a main part of the head. The surface finish is definitely not the same as my legit ones, I'm not sure if it's cheaper plastic or if the real ones have a matte topcoat but these are definitely straight out of the mold raw. They are heavier by a fraction of an ounce so maybe the plastic used is denser or the finishing process removes enough material to be measurable. In defense of my autism, part of my job is handling qc inspections for a small industrial manufacturer so defects compared to the real deal stand out. Like the outer heal piece being too small for the part it attaches to, forcing the opening to spread apart. And the lack of texturing on the lower heal pad surface. And the tiny slot deboss details everywhere being slightly larger and shallower for some reason. That extra bit on the elbow you mentioned serves the same purpose as the SHCC version arms, it's just a simpler design, making me think these could have come from very early prototype molds.

The KO Dios I got (shown here >>7472068 ) seemed really nice, imo. The plastic didn't seem cheap, and I've collected KOs for years so I know what cheap plastic is like. It seems on par with Hasbro toys. The plastic is definitely shinier than 52Toys products, without that matte treatment. The joints are actually more firm than on my legit Dios, especially the tails.

They aren't without their drawbacks, by any means. On mine, the caps on the back of their heads likes to come off, as well as the heel pieces if you're not careful (pic related). Easily solved with a tiny amount of glue. They also did have the sharp nubs that have been mentioned before, but these came off easily.

The lobes at the base of the arms, I may not do anything about, since they make it easier for my hammy hands to get the arms deployed. On the other hand, the limited range of motion might start to bug me, so we'll see.

All of this is to say that the KOs can easily be made to be as good as any toy you'd buy off the shelf in the US. I would say that, for the price, they'd be great for repainting or customizing or army-building (or all three).

The arm pins are relatively easy, just pull on them nd they pop out.

The hardest parts are the vented thigh covers, the round knee covers, and the eyes, all of which you probably need a tool to slide inbetween them and push/pry outwards. They're not glued, but friction is a bitch on a one-way plug.
