Didn't go, but I did put in for Delta Manus from TCP. For sure Iron Factory was showing off the most again, but I can quite imagine Fans Toys stole the show with Thomas. I was hoping that Giga Power had a showing of a final production Gaurdenter, but I suppose I'll just have to wait till it starts making Chinese circulation to see.

He's actually so good that I immediately sold my MP. The only "issue" I have with him is the tabs for the top of the shoulders was a bit too tight for my tastes, but 10 seconds with a small file on each side and they are fucking perfect

Honestly, they just did a poor job of handling the backing process.

For one, it wasn't clearly stated that refunds would be given if the goal wasn't met initially. That information was there but not immediately visible, which already scared some people off.

For another, it was kind of an obscure place to host the crowdfunding and it wasn't super widely advertised. It would have helped if they could have gotten more of the common retailers like TCP, TFS, and BBTS involved in taking "preorders" that could be added to the overall goal.

Lastly, doing it as just a $50 funding level was pretty stupid. The reward you got for backing it was just "the lowest possible price (TBD) upon release" which isn't technically a guarantee that you're getting it. It just means that one would be held for you for being a backer and all you have to do is pay the rest of it off. Doing a sort of down payment isn't the worst idea but what they really should have done was let people just go all in from the start if they wanted to. Have a set price in mind from the get go and make that a pledge tier option. If people are backing it, that means they ARE planning to buy it when it releases so it makes sense to just let them throw the full cost down up front if they want. It's going to bring them closer to the funding they need quicker, which would give more confidence to potential backers if they can see the goal realistically being met, plus it guarantees a sold unit that MMC doesn't need to worry about recouping the costs of.

It's a shame it didn't meat the goal but the fault lies entirely on how they handled funding for it.

There was a bonus head and gun that were backer exclusive. Maybe (definitely) that falls into the "shitty communication" part, but you definitely got extra stuff for backing it.

Also I don't know if asking for triple the money up front would have helped them when they barely got past 50%. I'll agree that they handled it poorly though.

At the very least, this should not have been done exclusively on PXE. I get not wanting the publicity and visibility offered by something like Kickstarter and even Indigogo might have been enough to bring the wrong kinds of attention, but keeping this to one single relatively obscure retailer for an already relatively obscure market is a pretty dumb move.

Talked with the MMC rep for awhile, he verified that there wasn't an exclusive because they weren't ready for two TF Cons per year, and they didn't want to put out something that wasn't ready. Also said they're trying to keep an eye on feedback and not put out too many of the same mold, which I don't entirely agree with since I think their new parts and character choices are usually really great.

I'd say he has. There are a few minor complaints about him such as the backpack not actually holding in place (not a problem unless you're holding it upside down or picking him up by the backpack) and I wish the tail pieces plugged more securely into the back of the legs but overall, still an excellent figure with some impressive transformation engineering. Probably one of the best Grimlock figures to ever exist, IMO. The dino mode is fucking amazing.

Maketoys one is indeed flawed, but still better than what fanstoys would do, Magic Square might be able to do something cool and cheap, but soon people will have dropped over $700 on Maketoys versions. Hey all, was messing with my IF Tyrant, and I can't get his one arm gun out of the socket anymore (the twin barrel on his left, not the fusion cannon). Trying to twist it out made it worse I think, and I feel like if I just try to twist and yank it out, I'll just tear the peg completely. Any tips here, or should I just live with it

Also, did it ever occur to you that door wings on toys is actually lazier than not having them? It's kibble that the engineer was too lazy to find a way to hide. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with them, and I actually like when figures like Downbeat and Hova were designed to give you a choice to have them tucked or out but door wings have always been the easy low effort way to deal with the kibble, just like wearing the entire roof and windshield as a backpack.

God I miss the Hasui era. That was like the perfect balance of toy, cartoon, promotional artwork, etc distilled down into one thing.

Not to say there's no resemblance, but Constructor definitely does things outside of toy and Studio Ox influence. While Toyworld did mimic a lot of Ox designs they ultimately did their own thing. Also I don't think there's any Studio Ox art of the original constructicons individually

The thing you have to remember is a lot of 3rd party companies are using factories where something else is produced. So you have to look at it like this which will make them more money in the time they have to use the factory. Reissues for the few that missed the first release. Seems like MMC and PX are the last holdouts for anything that's even in CHUG scale but PX likes to stick more to WfC/FoC stuff and MMC has been a really mixed bag lately. Magna/Inventa is probably the best CHUG we've gotten from them in forever, though I know there are plenty of people arguing that it's actually MP despite being in the Reformatted line and nowhere near big enough. Still, it's a damn shame because my CHUG collection has been stagnating for years now and it's really making me consider giving up on the hobby since the current trend is so MP/Legends focused. I didn't really get in on those scales so I'd basically be starting over from scratch, not to mention I don't even have the space to start a new collection.

Technically some of Legends size stuff put out by Iron Factory and Hot Soldiers could be considered CHUG. IF's Burning Slug is my CHUG Warpath and Hot Soldier's HS15 is my CHUG Cliffjumper. This really only works for Minibots though.

According to Lazyaza (who designs colorways for MMC) it has to do with production costs. A deluxe costs almost as much to develop as a voyager or larger, but customers expect to pay significantly less.

I imagine the same concept translates up another notch to MP. With minimal effort (depending on the design) you can just upscale a mold, give it articulated fingers, cover it with paint, and suddenly people are willing to pay 40% more for it.

I own quantron and I'll have bought the striker manus mold three times whenever TCP ships out the con one, but I think the complaint is more that nobody's doing deluxes anymore. MMC and planet x do plenty of voyager/leader stuff that's technically CHUG too, but no one's making anything smaller than that.

This. Voyager-sized seems to be the lowest most people will go barring intentional small Legends scale stuff, and some bots are just not meant to be bigger than a deluxe.

The last ones I can think of are Toyworld's Throttlebots and Mech Planet's Iron Hero, who if I remember right, was bigger than everybody expected him to be.

At least I was certainly surprised to find a deluxe-sized figure in the box rather than a Legends-scale one.

Overlord was a big boy in IDW and so was Star Saber and Deathsaurus. Compare how Springer and Impactor scaled to Overlord in the comics and then stand Generations Springer or MMC Impactor next to Carnifex and it matches up pretty damn close to what we saw on page. These guys aren't MP. If they were, they're be MUCH bigger. Ben even has a shot of PX's Star Saber next to MP Star Saber and it's a pretty notable difference.

Leader might be the wrong classification for them though. It's close but Supreme class is likely a better way to think of them.

That's a terrible idea. It'll damage the adhesive and the eye will fall off in a couple of years.

Wipe the piece down with a damp cloth and make sure it's dry before starting. Get some clean tweezers or a clean, dull pocket knife and use them to gently peel the label off the sheet by an edge. If you decide you want to grab it by a different edge or angle later you can place it back on the sheet and re-peel it.

Steady your arms against something(chest, table, office chair armrests.) Stick the end of the decal with the most corners down first(in this case the end by the "tear duct"), and make sure it's aligned before slowly lowering the rest of the decal. If you feel like you're placing it wrong, gently pull it back up and try again.

I don't know how long it'll be before I'm *not* at least somewhat mad at Toy World for my Constructor box set. The green v2 set (with G1 head + green thighs) has everyone come packaged in robot mode, but of course all the instructions start in vehicle mode -- which are only somewhat clear as they are. So I between those and some online reviews I had to figure out how to "untransform" everyone just so I could reconfigure them to combine.

But enough of my sour grapes, because those guys look stunning.

He's an absolute unit of a figure, the weight isn't an issue at all with him, and as far as robo modes goes he's one of the best MP figures ever. My main issue is his absolutely bland canon mode with the arms blatantly being the stands for it. But as a robot he's near perfect.

Okay so Toyworld's Aurora/Throttlebot Searchlight's here, Worth $15? Yeah I guess. He'll probably never get to be a leg though.

He's deluxe scale with the enginnering around Generations Drift level. Articulation's great with wrist swivels, ankle articulation and tight joints. Transformation engineering's pretty great too.

This being my first Toyworld product, I had wondered why he was so cheap, especially since the other members from this combiner team aren't even close to as affordable or available. I think I have my answer now. Aurora's well designed but not well produced. The plastic is poorly cut and has lots of imperfections I had to cut or shave off, the painting isn't great with a lot of stray paint marks or light dusting, and some joints are overly tight due to excess plastic not being removed.

I don't know if the other Throttlebots improved on this any, but I was expecting a bit better from a company like Toyworld based on their reputation.

Toyworld (or at least old TW pre-Zeta) always bums me out because they seem to do a really good design but drop the ball on the materials, or could use a few more passes on the engineering. For me there's something to be said for the blue, though I don't think you could go wrong either way. Personally, I think it comes down to looking at the other three and seeing a whole bunch of red already, so this mixes it up a bit. Plus it seemed like red was only coming with just the toy head as an option, so I wanted to make sure I had a full complement of chrome to display.

MFT Huge Dragon aint bad. He's pretty much just like a good Hasbro leader class with bulkier plastic and gaps filled. Not the kind of thing you'd want to overpay for though, considering articulation is on the stiff side and interaction with other figures is pretty limited, but you can still find him for like 50$ if you poke on ebay hard enough.

Kind of my only complaint about the figure is that the arms kind of don't do anything interesting in the base mode besides just point their elbow stumps around at things. They actually come off but there's no point to it since they can't peg in anywhere else, it might have been fun if you could like peg them into the undersides of the feet or something, I dunno.

But yeah the accessories and interactions with other stuff are pretty limited. The big cannons can't go anywhere besides the slots on the torso in base mode, and all the little weapons meant for the diaclone robots not included can't really do anything, except for the fact that the they can peg into the arm stumps which is something.

All the pegs on those accessories all seem to be 3.5mm which sucks, would have been fun to give my MS legends stuff some swords and blasters.

The diaclone KO stuff uses 3mm and 4mm diameter pegs, they may be overly tight or loose on some parts, it's usual KO inconsistency.

And yeah, the interaction with the diaclone stuff is shoved-in. It's a scaled down version of an unused Machine Boy design.

Still it fills a niche since Hastak will probably never do a Leader class Omega Supreme anytime soon.

Considering this is the chrome release, that's probably the reason. I would think the metallic release would be more subdued.

The new armor is probably a lot more serviceable than the way old release. And beyond that, it's only $20 from either BBTS or TFS. I got the red one for my Classics Prime, and it's quite a step up from the old kit on my Classics Nemesis.
