I got Great Saiyaman, hes really cool, the cape is kind of a bitch to articulate, but everything else is excellent, the Base head isnt as ugly as I thought itd be, but i dont think ill ever use it. The SS2 head is easily the best, also the feet in mine broke off, but they snap back in!! im really happy with this guy! also did you know youre supposed to open the box of the left side? it makes the tray slide in and out easier

If the dragon Ball line wasn't connected to the other figures and was it's own stand alone series people wouldn't dislike it. Every figure has been great and Roshi is easily one of the best in the entire line.

To be fair that's mostly relevant for the early arcs of DB. DB saw a gradual change of tone and the King Piccolo arc and onward start to shift more and more to what people are used to seeing in DBZ. Both in terms of the fighting but also following the same formulaic way of story build-up.

Yep, got to agree. In fact I'd argue that the Ma Junior arc actually has the same tone as the arrival of Raditz. I think there's a strong argument for that being the start of the "Z" era, since it's when we first see a grown up Goku after all, and the relationship between him and Piccolo is established.

Their fight is also the most violent we had seen up until that point.

Everything from the Boyhood, Red Ribbon Army and even Tien stories is fairly meh, with a lot more focus on the gag side of things that Toriyama carried over from Dr.Slump. I'm not saying it's bad, i'm just saying it's not "Z".

I'm not saying it's perfect, but I'm much happier having him in a figuarts display now versus what he was. If I were to really get anal about the scale I'd shorten his thighs, but considering how many proper figuarts are wonky in terms of scale I'm not sure it's worth the effort. Once I fix the skin tone mismatch he'll probably be good enough for me.

Yeah, that is what is a shame about this figure. We get the iconic RoF battle suit, but the only heads that work on it are the 1.0's, and by today's standards, the original SSJ, Scouter Vegeta and even the SSB one that comes with it are all terrible!

The 2.0 just looks ridiculously too big on it. It it wasn't for the outfit i would even pose it in my collection. I ended up sticking the 1.0 base "in pain" face on mine.

Which Future Trunks? Here are my thoughts:

OG:
Pros - Great selection of accessories, nice finish on the SSJ hair
Cons - 1.0 articulation is showing it's age. Sword sheath peg is fragile. Figure seems a bit too small.

PC:
Pros - Cheap alternative for those who missed the original. Improved detail on the face plates.
Cons - Suffers from same problems as OG whilst additionally having fewer accessories and a horrible "mac&cheese" paint-job on the SSJ hair.

Armored:
Pros - 2.0 body and superior face and hair sculpt. Better height and proportions (although expected since he did grow in the time chamber).
Cons - Generic Saiyan armor design which we had already seen on Vegeta. Seems lazy.

Xenoverse:
Pros - Captures design well. Great SSJ head. Inclusion of time-scroll accessory. Better size.
Cons - Coat severely restricts possibility. Not as bad as Whis, but almost. Makes kicking/charging poses impossible.

Super:
Pros - Best body articulation to date. Great accessories with inclusion of base and SSJ heads, along with sword, spirit sword and ki effect.
Cons - Poor sculpt of base shouting face, doesn't look anything like Trunks.

Yeah I don't know about that, those images look just as evident. Even if it isn't as evident, it's awful for SHF to do that regardless, it always looks bad. Gotenks suffers from some poor articulation, but so does Satan. They both have expressive faces and good accessories. I personally don't think Gotenk's face is bad at all. The most apparent difference here is that one gets called the absolute worst bottom tier figure in the line whilst the other gets heralded as the absolute best up there with Super Buu which is absolutely crazy since Buu barely has flaws. It's like there's two extremes when both are clearly flawed. I dunno, just seems supremely biased because one character is liked here more than the other one.

No, most the torso had enough separation for me to paint what I needed to paint without having to take it apart. I used Testors Model kit acrylic black paint. The collar is a separate piece which I never reattached because I didn't like the way that it stood straight up. Otherwise you just glue the front parts of the jacket back on and you're golden. Here's a shitty picture of how it came out

It's not just here though. I think it's because you can see both upper and lower torso on Gotenks and that makes it really really jarring as opposed to Hercule where most of his lower torso is clothed. Gotenk's face falling off all the time is also a huge problem. Plus Hercule is released around the same time as Buu and having them post together just adds a lot of charm to both I guess.

Gotenks is also terribly oversized, the face plates don't stay on for some people, the faces don't look very good in general, the Galactic Doughnut effect is lazy, and people find it kind of weird that he didn't come with a base head.

All in all, the figure seemed lazy as fuck.

Mr Satan, while sharing issues with the painted chest, and somewhat lacking articulation, has fantastic likeness to the character for what is essentially a background character, the alternate faces are great, he comes with the Dog, and multiple different belts so you have many different options there. Mr. Satan's silly, eye-bulging head looks great, Gotenk's wide-eyed face looks stupid. The idea is neat, but it doesn't even look like the character.

No one heralded the figure as flawless, its just that it hit a lot of the right notes, and Gotenks didn't. And I say that as a person who has no stake in either character.

You're complains are fairly subjective and kind of unfounded when it comes to likeness some of those faces are straight out the anime or manga

I would argue the opposite, since most people just see Gotenks as yet another Super Saiyan figure in a sea of other Super Saiyans, nearly all of which are far better representations of the source material.

Mr. Satan is something way more unique than just one of two dozen blond guys standing around on the shelf.

On top of that, I feel like Mr. Satan is really only played half-seriously in the Cell Saga, when he was this big, beefy fighter who was totally out of his league and that was the joke. Later he becomes a clown while he figures out a way to pull one over on Buu.

Look, we all know the scale is pretty fucked in this line on many, many of these figures. Gotenks scale seems way more off than Satan's, but I can honestly live with both of them (more so Satan's) I realize that even with the issues Gotenks has, they probably would have been worse if he was smaller.

The scale is the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger on him. It really aggravates me how small he is because the entire point of the character is that he's supposed to be a big imposing guy on the surface. And I've seen people argue that he's smaller in Super, but he should still be at least a little taller than Goku/Gohan.

It will be updated as it does every month, but you're right, there's no guarantee DB SHF will get anything new.

I like to remain optimistic though, especially since we have Tamashii Tokyo at the end of April, so fingers crossed they already have the rest of 2019 planned for us!!

They did that with base form frieza saga Goku. Everyone scrambled to get the sdcc figure or the Mexico exclusive and then Saiyan raised on Earth came out anyways. Now that things move a little faster I wouldnt be surprised if they showed a new vegito off.
