What if you connected 2 neck brackets upside-down to the waist pegs? That would put the arms at the height they're supposed to be, unless the brackets reach too far up and bump the hair.

Then you just use 2 1x1 round plates w/bar (the "frying pan" ones) on each bracket to connect the arms.

I'm assuming you're doing spiderverse!ock?

The only ones of mine that ever broke were the trans-neon orange ones. All of my late 70s-early 80s light gray pieces are fine.

The trans-orange ones are brittle as fuck, though. I'm always afraid they're going to snap apart when I disconnect or reconnect them.

Get stuff on clearance and don't mix pieces needlessly, you're better off sorting them even if you don't have much, since that'll become exponentially harder to do. It doesn't matter if the sets are large or small, the thing is about how much pieces you get for what you pay, and, how useful those pieces are. Creator sets are pretty good to start out, since you can build several models out of just one set, and they normally have a great selection of pieces.

The best, but not easiest, is to buy huge lots from kids getting "too old" for Lego and the likes.
If you're looking for sets, Creator is usually your best bet, unless a set has certain parts you really need or want.
If you've designed a MOC in LDD/stud.io and know what parts you need, you're best off buying each piece on Bricklink.

Because the movie sets use parts that don't exist in certain colors, as well as connections that aren't stable or aren't even actually connections, and would be much too expensive for the average consumer if they used the actual number of pieces.

Honestly I'm glad they're taking a break, maybe LEGO will have the chance to try a new original space theme.

Honestly I think Star Wars as as franchise is spent.
The issue with it is that they refused to innovate. The prequels - while not great - at least tried to give us something different. They tried to expand the universe and at least added a LOT of new vehicles/environments.
The newest releases I feel add very little to the overall universe and feel like they're done following an excel spreadsheet.

Unconfirmed set list with prices supposedly leaked a couple of months ago. There was a $10 set in the list called Spacemen Vs. Duplo Alien, so people assumed it would be another minifig pack like BSS. Hopefully it's true and we get some new red and black CS figs.

It's safe to assume the set will have the new small Dilophosaurus, but they surely will include at least one other dino. I'd love to get new raptors in the same scale as the new Dilo, as they would be more accurate but i'm not holding my breath.
It might be a good time to do a Brachiosaurus.

Man I really feel like the endgame sets are one big mess.

With the exception of the 76125: Iron Man Hall of Armour, which has excellent minifigures but also isn't really related to endgame, all of them are really bad.

76123: Captain America: Outriders Attack has three almost identical minifigs and the bike is a ridicolous size.

76124: War Machine Buster is a rehash of the earlier hulkbusters, complete with limited movement and lack of knees.

76126: Avengers Ultimate Quinjet follows the earlier trend of each Quinjet being worse than the previous one

76131: Avengers Compound Battle does have the nice Iron Man, but still the stupid helmet-wearing Thanos and he doesn't even have all the infinity gems

To top it all off most of the good guys all have the same, generic white torso and leg pieces.

My father is really big into Lego and is part of the reason why I got into it. He's moving into a smaller place and we've been slowly selling most of his collection to raise money for the move.

One of the items I'm not sure how to price is a non-offical set from Brickmania. It's the third set ever made. 15 were made total. It had been built once but put back in it's box with instructions and certificate. What do you guys figure it's worth?

99.9% certain to be included: Jeep Wrangler, small Dilophosaurus.

My guess (mind it, this is a wild guess) is we'll get a Visitor Centre facade with some vignettes of the interiors on the other side, then a couple of palm leaves on a plate and the "east dock" rotating sign for the Nedry/Dilophosaurus scene, and either a Ford Explorer with the T-Rex and the fence, or a new Brachiosaurus figure so you can use the Jeep either for the Nedry scene or the Brachio encounter scene.

Set 75932 is still widely available so they might have decided not to include Grant, Sattler Tim, Ellie and the raptor, in this one, favoring new characters and dinos, but you never know.

If you're wondering why I'm using a brickbuilt dog instead of a mold, there's a reason for this! For the majority of this film they'll use a regular dog, but for action chase scenes like this they'll use a fake dog as a placeholder that they'll CGI over in post-production.
If you look into his controls, you can see he uses a bone to control the car!
This entire build was actually inspired by a childhood MOC I made of a doghouse-car, which was also piloted by a firefighter dog.

Opening the cockpit reveals a brickbuilt cat (the tail isn't too visible thanks to the lighting, but it uses a... BL calls it a "modified 1x1 plate w/ clip light"? That thing), and since it's a cat, it uses a raw fish as its piloting controls!

I'd argue that the current quinjet is the best set of the line and rivals the first one in terms of the build. It's pretty sizable and the interior has decent space to place figures/cargo. The previous one could barely fit a pilot. The tricycle thing is pretty lame though.

Hall of armour is a massable minifigure display and only seems appealing for getting iron man figs.

I love Adventurers. Had nearly everything from Egypt. Jungle wasn't bad either. Dino Island was meeeh but they had cool red seaplane. Too bad LEGO doesn't make original content like this. Now it's all about licencing that doesn't even come close.

Dino Island was pretty bad imo, a lot of the Orient Expedition sets are better and OE mostly sucked. Desert Adventures is probably my favourite theme of all time though.

Although for anything out of production, which is most of the Lego catalog of pieces, Bricklink is the obvious choice.

If you're willing to take the time to make a list of parts that you're interested in (or just use the New Elementary lists), Bricks and Pieces is vastly superior to Bricklink for contemporary bricks. It's cheaper for a lot of the less common parts, you can order in massive quantities, and you can avoid scalper pricing on rare bricks. The interface may be terrible for discovering the parts you want, but that's what Brickset's for.

How about interior. That plane used to have spacious cabin for a LEGO design and could fit 2 minifigs (if you remove pilot's seat) and separate cargo bay. I customized mine to fit nearly all Adventurers in it for the cost of cargo bay.

I told a lie, they're more similar than i remember. The front is basically 31064 Seaplane Adventures but the back has a larger cargo space than the original and an opening cargo ramp (the seaplane has nowhere near enough ground clearance to ever open this in a useful way). You can't sit 2 figures side by side, but by the looks of it, it would have been really cramped in the original.

The technic hole bricks are attached to 2 plates with central technic pins facing up, the red 1x2 is where a 1x2 bracket is normally, which the tail is attached to. 3 1x6 plates run the length of the wing, the central plate is connected to the rest of the tail assembly. I tried it irl and it seemed strong enough (the 1x8 brick makes it rigid enough to not fly off immediately).

It would be hard to do in 6-stud wide plane anyway. Official LEGO plane with side-by-side figs is at least 8-studs wide. However, if you place them 1 stud behind it will have enough spece. This is my concept to make 6-wide plane that will have two rows of seats for minigigs. They have to be offset because you can't place 2 minifigs side by side - they are too wide, even with arms raised up. You need these this windows pieces, so minifigs can have space for arms. To be honest this has no use, your plane has different structure inside.

Even better in adventurers cars. The downside is, it works only for a vintage or offroad style. And Luke's Landspeeder has very low sidewalls so arms are not an issue.

The biggest issue with LEGO cars is the size, especially height. It's not a problem with offroad or pickups but sportscars or even normal street cars are off. Usually town car is lower than a standing person. LEGO however... there are very few LEGO cars that have somehow proper scale. Usually they are hotrots or customs.

Things like SpeedChampions or Harry Potter flying car you mentioned are simply too oversized when compared to minifigs. I really, really dislike these. A sportcar shouldn't be taller than a standing minifig.

There was a short peroid when they got scale 'almost' right but these cars had ugly wide wheels sticking out too much. Planes, boats, trains, trucks - all fine, but cars...

This is what I'm talking about. SpeedChampions Bugatti. Wheels are almost up to minifig's shoulders. Whole car is slightly higher than minifig. Meanwhile supercar like this should be low and sleek. I know the issue is with bad LEGO minifig proportions (legs are simply too short) but it looks very bad when you place minifig next to a car.

I estimated minifig height at average human height, then, according to Wikipedia, dimensions of Dodge Charger (1970 model):

Length 207.9 in (5,280 mm) (1970)
Width 76.6 in (1,950 mm) (1970)

So in LEGO minifig scale should be:

Length: 16 studs
Width: 6 studs
Height: 4 studs

Of course you can't get a lot of details but at least managed to fit minifig, even if he's not really sitting in it.

So, I'm gonna explain a bit about this while it finishes converting the image, I think I'm gonna scale it down and link a massive version of it, or make an album on flickr, dunno.

So, they're going to shoot Ichi Roku Ninjas from Outer Space. Why going to shoot? Because the people in charge of the scene deco have very clearly not finished their job, thus delaying the filming of the movie, even if the actors, sound crew and director are there. Prop artists are lazy I tell you!
You might notice a camera being used. That's one of the actors filming, he was already in his costume when they told him they were going to film a short behind the scenes interview of the director and lead actor, poor guy must be uncomfortable inside that thing, but at least he's not the guy sitting inside the mech (the head on top the 4-legged walker is a replica... Or at least that's what I chose to believe).
It's pretty clear what Macy is doing, I don't think this needs much of an explanation. Why include such a thing? Because I couldn't have possibly covered the sexplotation aspect otherwise, dunno really, seemed fun.
In the back, there's the guy finishing the bamboo cane props. You might not see them in any image but that's just cause I was in a hurry and did not photograph them! I tell you, they're pretty much what he's working with, except they have much more bamboo leaves and less headlights we gotta pretend are green styrofoam.
I hope you lads find the Generator as cute as I did when I build it, probably the best tiny creation that's spawned off this rushed project. I wish I had more time to post pics of all the actors posing and such, but I don't.

There's really no argument here, you're absolutely right. But that's just how Lego is.
This whole thing, it's similar to those first SW sets we had back in 1999. Lego used to be an aesthetic on its own. The idea was "how would something like AT-ST look if we made it out of lego?". It wasn't supposed to be a replica or a perfect screen accurate miniature. It was supposed to be a building toy in a shape of a familiar scifi vehicle. Nowadays they try to make every single SW set as accurate as possible. While that's respectable, something is evidently lost in the process. The most fundamental idea of taking bricks and building something out of them has slowly been replaced by the idea of taking something and finding the bricks to imitate the shape. This is nostalgia speaking also, but the modern SW sets unquestionably have their share of problems and have for years been a sign of bad things to come.
When it comes to Speed Champions, their attempts at realism at their own scale are unparallelled. However dimensions-wise, none of the cars are even close to their real life counterparts. That's because even though the theme is licensed, Lego has retained it's right and virtue to produce toys and models that are still very "lego". They're realistic, but not to the point that would hinder their other goals of design such as size, complexity, sturdiness or build legality. They are exaggerated yes, but they also got their unique style and feel. They are what they are. Personally they remind of some old slot cars with their aggressive shapes and big tires. I really like SC, they were in part responsible for reigniting my passion for lego.

TLM uses https://brickset.com/sets/7965-1/Millennium-Falcon just from eyeballing it. I don't think it's a great model, especially the underside and interior, but could be fun to improve.

Could probably pick one up cheapish on Ebay esp. if you don't care about minifigs. There is only one Death Star that was re-released with minor changes, it's huge and not cheap.

Get yourself something like this and start categorizing your bricks. Sorting by type is a lot more convenient. It really comes down to how you can easily find your bricks again, so split them up into categories you find reasonable.
It is a lot of work, but saves you a lot of work as well. It's definitely worth the time.

I prefer stud.io. Tried LDD before but had trouble navigating.
In Stud.io i constantly use the search by name bar as i for the most part remember the bricklink naming conventions by heart. Making a wantedlist directly in stud.io is something i never got to work in LDD but that just might be my computer retardation.

Start sorting in part types very broadly, and get more specific going on.
I'd suggest against doing just by colour, and also not going too specific doing type AND colour. (it would be very hard to keep oversight of what you have and to find pieces of same colour in a bin)
IF you have some pieces in very rare colours? I'd suggest keeping those together. Easier to remember and to build something coherent out of it using it.

Is one of the best for smaller pieces i guess, especially if you can easily pull the bins out. (my suitcases need to be put all over the room a lot.)

It is funny but I have the same feelings towards Lego SW.
When it first came out it was by no means something bad because while it was not an original Lego theme it was "made in Lego form". That's how I'd refer to a lot of the things I built while growing up - trying to emulate some real life things in Lego form - "Lego X or Lego Y".

I also agree that basic brick-building was a lot less accurate to the original shape but also more friendly with children. Children require simple building techniques - with today's hyper specialized pieces and techniques I feel children get lost easily when they first disassemble a set to try and build something else.
I'm not saying you can't do it - I'm saying it's much harder with the assortment of pieces to get something else ( an alternate model) that's relatively easy to build.

SC is good, but I'm not a car fan.

A question to fellow builders - do you think we will see simpler, non hyper realistic builds ever again as a mainstream thing? ( Think Benny's Space Squad - but not as a one-off thing)

With how Lego's popularity feels like it's starting to wane, I think we might see more of those kinda sets in the near future, hopefully as Lego tries to create more original themes (I know tons of normie friends who're also tired of the 90% licensed themes taking up Lego's catalog, so it's not just us)
