The World of Springfield line from Playmates is way more comprehensive, but it's seriously crippled by the stupid sound gimmick because none of them have any leg articulation as a result

Instead of putting the chips inside the figures themselves so they'd work on any set, they put the chips in the sets and the figures just have some kind of a circuit breaker or something to trigger the right sound clip, but all that means is that any figure made after a particular set won't be compatible with it.
I mean I guess the Playmates ones are better as collectables, but the old Mattel ones are better as toys.
