THAT'S IT! I give up... i have on 8inch doll i wanted to get clothes for but its been a pain in the ass - most of clothes are super expensive and they are vintage clothes from 70s.

One person recommended me to try to make clothes myself.
My first project will be to make a
1) hawaian shirt
2) brown shorts
Im going to sew it myself and im going to buy a sewing machine to make clothes.

My friend told me that i need a sewing machine with a single stitch plate.
IM GONNA DO IT

also...sewing thread i guess? im just curious ow many anons actually had to sew stuff themselves for their figures.

Been sewing for years and i can give you some tips:

First off you dont need a sewing machine if you are just gonna make a couple of tiny clothes for your dolls. Also start with hand sewing till you get the hang of it.

Dont buy really thick fabric. The thinner (and stretcher) the better since at smaller scale: fabric doesn't drape as nicely on the body compared to full grown adult.

Also swipe existing patterns online that are free in a style you like and shrink them on drawing program and print it out. (Takes some trail and error to get the scale right)

You can make patterns by applying a layer of paper towels over the doll and then applying a layer of masking tape over that. The looseness of the end fit depends on the initial thickness of the paper towels. The purpose of using paper towels is to allow the masking tape to be removed. Once the masking tap is removed, I use an exacto knife and/or a very fine set of sissors to cut the dart positions so the masking tape lies flat, add allowances for seams and walla, you have a pattern!

Also you can build up an outfit directly on the doll using this method and a fabric stiching adhesive (wally world has it).

especially about sewing machine stuff
however...im not sure how to make sewing at such a small and accurate level as picrelated flannel plaid shirt/jeans shorts.
And its a piece for 11 inch barbie doll.
Is it possible by hands?

however yeah-first i should just train how to do stuff i guess.
I also wanted to make a cool leather jacket.

Don’t give up too soon! Some things are hard to do on a regular sewing machine, and you need either to practice more or to get additional equipment. When sewing for me became more than just a hobby, I invested in purchasing a good sewing machine. Later, I also bought a good overlocker sewing machine.
