Whats the best Darth Vader figure I can get? Scale and price isn't much of a concern but not looking to spend HotToys level, preferably $100 or less. The Hyperreal looks good but I'd like to know about the other options, mostly the ines in the 6inch range. Any recommendations?

This. MAFEX Rogue One is best available so far. It has cool translucent lenses. Figuarts keeps dropping the ball. The Hasbro 40th is the most accurate to the on-screen ANH Vader, but, well it's Hasbro.

Thanks I'll go for that. I first wrote off Mafex because I hated the helmet but had no idea there was a R1 version. That looks leagues better than this.

Lmao no. The best on is the Hasbro one. The latest Black Series one.

They used a 3D scan of the original helmet for that one, better proportions too, no import even comes close.

Yeah, this is definitely the best version. I will say I wish it didn't use a fabric cloak (I hate soft goods on action figures) but it doesn't look too bad all things considered. And it's miles better than the shit that Hasbro cranks out.

OP here, my style of collecting is honestly I just like stuff I can feel comfortable picking up and "playing" with. Not literally pew pew, but I like to fiddle with poses and such now and then, not leave him standstill.

I hate Hasbro for the most part, but when they actually put a little effort to make something that isn't a happy meal toys, they can make some real nice things, like Vader, that no import can touch.

Figuarts ANH Vader was a huge improvement over the original, and has the best body proportions overall in my opinion. The only thing holding it back is the somewhat derpy helmet sculpt and cape.

If Bandai fixes those issues for a eventual ESB Vader, then we could be looking at the definitive 6 inch Vader figure. Until then, the Black Series 40th figure will suffice just fine.

Speaking as someone that almost exclusively collects imports, there's no reason why you should go with anything but the Black Series 40th unless there's a very specific, very dynamic pose you want him to hit.

As a figure, the Black Series just has so much more character and shelf presence to him, as well as some of the best executed cloth goods I've seen for the character.

You can but it might require some finagling to get it to look right due to hasbro's ugly knees. The cloth robe helps in this case since it doesn't hinder anything.

which movie? He barely move din ANH and even ESB and ROTJ he was somewhat immobile. The EU writers have had to jump through massive hoops to find a canon reason his fight in ANH was so boring and explain away the real-world reasons for it, considering Rogue One, which takes place 1-2 days before, has him fighting like a rabid hyena.

Even in Rogue One he was rather slow and calculated in his movements, using his size and the Force to dominate his opponents as much as his lightsaber.

One of his defining traits is he's this huge, intimidating mountain of a man. And only the Black Series figure gives me that feeling.
