(for those who don't remember; Hasbro re-issued OG Sideswipe in black in the G2 line. BUT Furman, wanting to ape the gun obsessed grim and gritty Image books of the early 90s for the Gen2 comic, gave everyone lots of guns and ammo belts and melee weapons; of which Sideswipe, who he was made to heavily focus on in order to promote the toy of him, was given a TON of weapons and basically made him look like a Rob Liefeld character in terms of number of guns he was packing.
This made Sideswipe a meme, in terms of representing G2 in all of it's garish 90s glory. And made the figure the only G1 repaint from the line, that anyone gave a fuck about. Hence Hasbro constantly putting out G2 repaints of Sideswipe since it's one of the first major TF memes)
