Had heaps of Beast Wars/Beast Machines toys, and starting around Engeron/Cybertron I was working in a department store and I'd suss out the Transformers from time to time. Thought they were really cool, but I couldn't justify paying for toys. (Keeping in mind I had no qualms about anime figures and Pokemon cards)
Eventually I bought Classics Bumblebee, thought it was cool, and slowly started picking up tfs here and there. Read the comics, played the WFC/FOC games, and thought that was enough.
I didn't really get serious about collecting until probably Titans Return, because I'd always heard about Headmasters and thought they were cool, and I happened to pick up Hardhead, who is probably one of the better TR figs.
Now I've got well over 100 pieces of plastic crack.
