If the MH reboot dropped the edgyness and kept the monsters, then WHC brings back the edgyness and drops the monsters. I don't think it's going to work because the novelty of MH was the re-imagining of the monsters as cute school girls. Skank dolls have been done to death before, as seen in Flavas and Bratz. Still, time will tell.
And here's how the first wave will go down:
The white haired bitch in the middle will sell out first. She's got the moxie and she's got pure that Aryan phenotype that the market wants despite what the marketing dept. believes to the contrary.
Second to sell out will be the artsy Asian chick. She's cute and her outfit has the right amount of boho to label her as an artsy-fartsy type without getting too obnoxious about it.
Third will be the Hispanic. She's not a bad doll, but she looks alot like DCSHG Wonder Woman with a bad baseball cap on. Speaking of which, her outfit is the worst of the bunch. Drab & frumpy! She could be a really attactive doll, but she needs to get out of the lesbian trailer trash look.
Fourth to sell will be the negress. Look, we all know that black girls don't sell. She's not a bad looking doll as purple is the go-to color for any attractive black doll. But yeah, black.
Last to sell and first to clearance is the hambeast. Good Lord, she looks like an updated Devine. Who wants a doll that looks as if she's been eating dog crap all day? And she's supposed to be the "athletic" one because she skates? Lord no. They should have made her a normal sized doll and put the fudge pudge on the Asian girl. Fat Asian girls are cute. Obscure ethnicity aggressive looking girls are not.
Yes, this line has a lot of potential, but like others have said, the styles and colors really hold it back. Here's hoping the fashion packs will cover those sins.
