Bandai Japan has been pushing for more features and interactivity with each release, and Bandai America seems to trust American audiences enough to give us both the anniversary Digimon and the latest color-screen Tamagotchi.
Giga Pets did try to make a comeback recently with Giga Pets AR, where the gimmick was that you raised a vpet and scanned the screen with a phone app to see it in 3D AR. Shame that the AR animations were garbage though, and they did zero advertising or marketing for it.
