You guys collect miniatures to go in your displays? I was wondering what you guys use for food and beds/chairs things like that. Battle poses are awesome but sometimes i wanna have my figures just chilling and eating.
What do you guys recommend?

Hong Kong is fucking great with these small items. Even have localised hot pot or restaurant tables in 1/12 commonly if you know where to look. Me, I want to get a whole kitchen set at times but lack the room. Maybe just a stove and wok and spatula.

I've found a taobao shop that does hand craft 1/12 furniture with MDF/wood and actual stitched cushion etc. Pretty cool desu

Aoshima's 1/12 model kits are easy, nice, and has range of option like park benches to restaurant seats and some include small accessories for your autism if that's more your thing. Although, I'm sure there's already the 1/12 thread for this topic.

This is my jam!

Seriously, though, I like accessories more than figures at times. I have a few central characters and I spend more time picking out furniture and foods and gardening tools and all more than I do buying figures. Takes about a month to a month and a half to get stuff from CHina to where I like in Australia but it's cheap as hell and some things are really decent quality as well.

I"ll take some photos, just cell phone photos but I got a nice shipment in recently from CHina and it's a ton of cool stuff.

I also make my own with clear resin and what have you.

Example:

HEre we have what is probably a commonly known kitchen to order, with some of a dishes set I got for like $1.30 form China and the food I made myself using the white dishes as a base. Dry Ramen noodles, bits of colored candy wrapper and clear resin with food coloring.

Here's one of two orders that came in before I opened them.

THe thing is that they say it's dolhouse scale but it seems to me t be a mix of their common stoc that can be dollhouse stuff or flat backed things for decorating a cell phone cover.

For example I have a couple of clear hearts in there that obviously aren't food, an M&M the size of an action figures head with a flat back to it, etc.

Sometimes you get lucky and get something neat, like a proper scale Japanese sake or tea cup or, in this last order, a scale sized dollhouse that would fit in a 6 inch scale child's room.

Here are some of the better pieces form that lot after I opened them.

I also work with silicon mold rubber so some things I make copies of and pain them up so if I get a good piece I can make all the copies I want.

These bottles were cheap and since Jigen is one of the characters in my little microverse I have built I look for different looking booze bottles.

Four for like $1.50.

Their little tiny, Chinee hands seem to be able to put the labels on better than I ever could.

THis is what I mean by the scale being off sometimes. I wanted Space Ghost, Jigen and Yotsuba to have popcorn for movie nights. It said it was 1:12 scale but it's clearly for twelve inch figures. Luckily it still works in a comical way and is big enough to share between them.

Anyhow, enough spamming. IF anyone is interested I'll post some more and give tips on how to find the good stuff. Like I said, I'm an accessory guy and hunting down things like this is a hobby of mine in itself.

1:12 dollhouse stuff generally works well. Re-Ment does a lot of compatible stuff, and the Japanese manufacturers in general have all kinds of 1:12 stuff. From bondage equipment to portable toilets, they do just about everything.

There are essentially two workable ones from China. It's funny how there are standard issue Chinese dollhouse goods that just get mass made and sold even if they involve hand working.

I lucked out and found a seller that does the fridge I have for roughly standard price but also includes the microwave.

I have a microwave on top of my fridge so I decided to take that and recreate my kitchen fridge to a degree.

The bottom of the fridge is a drawer that slides out, meant to be a freezer.

That's what I bought. That particular fridge is one of two common Chinese models in the proper scale. It comes in silver, grey and white.

I spent more than I should have, $18 AUD on this but it was one of my favorite Childhood treats and I wanted Youtsuba to have some.

The container is metal and the cookies are nicely painted.

I'm not CHris-chan level retarded, I just talk about my figures as people because it's the six year old side of me I've protected and I like having one place I can just talk like a kid, /toy/ seems like a place you can do that as long as you also have the hide of an adult.

Re-ment is very hard to read. Some things work perfectly for 1/12th and some tings work more for whatever scale Gashapon is, like those aqua shooters.

Makes you really love sellers that put measurements in the item descriptions.

Cookies and also the kitchen set. VEry common available from many sellers, about $13 AUD but you can get it for more if you want it shipped form your own country from a reseller. All the doors open and it's really solid and well put together.

It's cut so it can fit together this way but it looks fine even apart. As you can see in previous images some of the common cooking stuff you can order has holes that can fit onto the little hooks. I don't think it's made for this kitchen set, just a happy accident.

For about a buck thirty you can get some good sets of dishes. Like I said I used them for food bases.

Two part resin is easy to work with and the learning curve is very low. I started using it for my miniatures business back in 04.

Being out of resin, though, and waiting for a new shipment to come in I played around with this slime stuff that seems to be a fad. Thing is there's slime, gel putty, pop and a ton of other crap, I am sure you guys know about it.

IF you get the proper slime, the stuff like you used to get with He-Man or Ninja Turtles, it settles well and you can use it for water or soups.

I'm often amazed at the quality of some of these things. FOr example the toaster came with two slices of breat and a *metal* toaster with a snap on bottom, spring to put in it and the little handle slide down against the spring like a toaster.

Of course if you do that you will launch the toast across the continent but still, impressive.

The waffle has a square of essentially "Green stuff" on it to be painted as a tab of butter then it hardens, then maple colored resin over it on a plate. THe sushi roll is some weird egg thing that came with one of those earlier pictured bread orders and I sculpted ides for it and took the tail fan from a fake aquarium plant. Little circle is a sushi slice I sculpted and put a piece of plastic fork in there so when I paint it it has a filling.

With any given series I tend to find a mix of scales. Toiletries, food, utensils and stationary items usually are scaled for larger figures and/or dolls. Electronics, appliances, certain pieces of cookware tend to scale well with figma. Naturally, this is only my observation. I definitely agree measurements are helpful.

WHat really gets me is when I look up a review on Youtube to try to get an idea but it's an east Asian doing it.

Their hands are so tiny I still have no idea what size the toys are and often the only reference is other re-ment stuff.

THis, for example, I would love to buy but I have no measurement for it so I have no idea if it would scale well with my Revoltech Jigen. Tad has a violin, Yotsuba has a microphone so I just need an instrument for Jigen to get the band back together.

Not to mention if it's the scale it looks like Snoopy would be a great bobblehead for them and that radio would be sweet.

I got this ramen bowl from Aliexpress for my PAKs and I'm trying to understand how they made the noodles for the resin? Is it really just clay? Seems tedious if it's how they're made when you think about the tens of thousands of these things China pumps out.

What did you pay for that? I find those going for about $5 USD and it's a shame.

I use actual dry ramen noodles broken off fo the block, resin is airtight and the noodles are deep fried to dehydrate them for packaging so combining those two things means it's never going to rot.

I think with those things they have a sort of playdoh extruder for clay or they use string. A lot of stuff I get has labels that must have been hand applies or bottle caps that are painted on so I wouldn't be surprised if they do high volume by hand.

I've taken a few photos of my process and I'm thinking about doing a tutorial thread but I'm not sure if there would be any interest.

Something like the bowls in >>7550621 take about a minute to make by hand depending on what I want in them. I tend to do my prep work all at once, mainly just cutting pieces for colored candy wrapper for onion bits and what not and plastic fork tips for tofu cubes, etc.

If I were to sell them about a buck each would be fair since I can just put dry noodles in a bowl and pour in colored resin and top with a sprinkle of plastic bits. A lot of dishes like this costs about $1.38 if you are willing to wait for Chinese shipping.

So if I didn't have to sculpt anything I could crank out soup bowls and that faster than a teen cranks out batches once he discovers Redtube.

Yeesh.

The world is a harsh place and the main function of my job is to reverse that. I come home to play with my toys as a little oasis and here you are being as sweet as a jar of honey looking something up for me.

THat does help immensely and since Jigen i not that huge I think at three inches for the jukebox the guitar is like three and a half.

Just checked and Raph's guitar is a little under four inches so I think that guitar wold fit Jigen as he's a bit small.

When I got her some of my "kids" (I run a group of orphans) said it looked nice but it was too big compared to Tad. I figured it was about as small as you could make an articulated figure. Then in the last photo thread I saw the Between Worlds link and ordered him.

Once I got him in and put them side by side I realized that ye, the Yotsuba could and should be smaller.

Back on topic, about to pour a latex mold of these fellas, more Chinese items.

The coca Cola bottle mold will be used to pour clear resin mixed with blue/green glowing powder to make Nuka Cola bottles from Fallout.

Sorry for the late response. Gallbladder pain had me in bed for a couple of days.

I do a specialized sort of mercenary work about twice a year. This last time is was helping secure squatted office buildings in Africa. IT makes enough for me to save some and fund my lifestyle throughout the rest of the year.

For supplemental income I teach molding, sell some of my handmade miniatures scenery and do some freelance voice acting.

Most of my time is spent being on a call with one or more of the kids and helping them with homework as a couple are n college now and all the others are in high school. THen we watch a movie or what have you. I share a lot of my old favorite movies and cartoons. I mold and paint while I'm on the calls.

Nothing terribly interesting or out of the ordinary, unlike this bucket of KFC that came in with one of my Chinese orders yesterday.

Sometimes, like that waffle on the right that should have had clear brown syrup, it's a WIIIIIDE miss. This brand of resin bubbles much more than I am used to and doesn't take to food coloring well.

Some of them are the same but rebranded. I would like to see some 1/18 food like our fellow 1/12ers have.

The resin there is Smooth On colorcast.

My usual resin. that I have never had problems with, is MicroMark. They're pretty much my main supplier but I am waiting on a shipment from them so I tried some resin being sold Australia side.
