>>7567181I mean... if you want "PEW PEW, GIMME ENERGON" that's literally what most of Transformers media is, because it IS still aimed at children. I'd like it if at least one comic could do good lore while keeping things interesting, but the problem there is that all too often writers see the opportunity for worldbuilding as an oppotunity to make a political statement because they heard on TV that makes people think you're smart.
Personally, I don't think lore-heavy TF has ever been done well, even if it's what I would prefer. Roberts flirted with greatness a few times, and some of his ideas really interested me (I loved stuff like the Militant Monoformer Movement, Fundamentalism, and all the other tidbits he came up with the make Cybertron feel like a real world instead of a toy playset) but he fucked up by pandering to liberal politics too much. "PEW PEW, ENERGON!" hasn't been done well outside of TF vs. GI Joe, in my opinion. I'd love to see a movie or cartoon that takes that kind of absurd dedication to sheer action and spectacle, but even as close as the Bayformers movies came to it, they still had a ton of awful, shitty elements that I can't overlook.
So really, I don't fucking care which they pander do. I'd just like it as long as they did a good fucking job, but 90% of TF media is shit.
