>>7577241The problem with being the cheap line is that stores didn't want to order as many units of the 3.75" line, hence it becoming a WalMart exclusive.
Storees really don't give a shit about what's what and who is meant for whatever, they just see two low price point lines and cut out the more expensive one, thinking consumers will buy the 5PoA one.
Luckily, it kinda worked in everyone's favor because of the sequel movies merch bombing really badly with consumers. So Hasbro wasn't hit hard by their Vintage/whatever line bombing at $12 and stores were only stuck with $8 shitty 5PoA lines they could clearance out at a steeper discount.
Their prices being what they are is just the state of toy production costs.
Aside from stores being really shit at carrying articulated 3.75, why are you so upset about 5PoA trash? Hasbro couldn't force stores to carry the articulated 3.75 line, hence it becoming an exclusive so that they could be ordered in a significantly larger number.
WalMart's entirely at fault for just holding onto stock in their distribution warehouses as well, instead shipping them to stores.
With movie shit bombing as well, that's entirely LucasFilm's fault for making barely likeable trash.
I'm not sure how Lucas influenced Mattel fits into this discussion.... but Mattel makes cheapo shit because they're greedy as fuck.
>>7577278The problem with these lines is that you're meant to buy multiples in order to get the figure that you actually want. They're also cheaply produced. Worse quality plastic, articulation isn't actually good, and the packaging is as cheap as possible.
of course, licensing costs is much much higher.
See pic on how stupid packaging costs more than running the factory and almost as high the labor itself.
There's a reason why those cheapo 3PoA vinyl figures are just hanging loose with just a simplistic tag.
