>>7586549>>7587490Yeah, only the first 50 episodes were dubbed, but it ran 147 total.
It replaced Dragon Ball Kai's FujiTV slot in Japan and the first episode was a cross over with One Piece (Still the biggest selling manga of all time)!! It later went on to even have a DB crossover!
It became synonymous in Japan with the term "Dream9", 9-10 am being the time-slot the 2 shows aired.
The anime covered the first 2 thirds of the manga, but sadly things went downhill during the Cooking Festival arc. Typical mangaka burn out imho that we’d seen all too many times before, and instead of going on hiatus after the anime ended, the last 100 chapters became a rush to the finish line, tying up loose ends with disappointing explanations.
Still upsets me to this day that Toriko gets no fanfare in comparison to Naruto, Bleach and Fairytail, but it was aimed at a weird demographic, fans old enough to appreciate cuisine, but young enough to enjoy the wacky hunting and battling for ingredients.
It was like Pokemon with food! Haha! Still in my top 10 series of all time though!
