God, I hate to be the negative one, but this just doesn't do it for me. I'm also a huge Scarlet fan, and I do grant he's been drawn in a number of different ways over the years, but to me, this is always gonna be the iconic one. Absolutely huge and relatively rounded eyes (many Scarlet interpretations nowadays make them rather small and angular). Torn/ragged hoodie--a detail everyone seems to miss. And then the pedantic little things like the proper colors (these are too pale, just like the old ML), double straps on his ankle pouches, the right look for his web shooters, etc. I've come to terms with the fact that I may never get a perfect one. Really not digging the separate toes and techno-mesh texture either, but Hot Toys gonna Hot Toy.

For now, the Classics release is the closest to my ideal. The eyes aren't shaped quite right, but they are the right size (and thankfully not outlined this time). The colors look great. They changed his bracelets and the size of the spider on his hoodie to make them more accurate. And it comes with a Ben head. They really did a lot to fix the old figure, and I respect that.

Ah, that makes sense then, cause I was disappointed in the execution of that suit and rarely used it. I know some people would say I'm being ridiculous, and I AM glad for more Scarlet exposure. I guess when something is your favorite you just tend to get picky about it.

It's just like...imagine you really liked something for x and y and z reasons, but different artists and redesigns slowly stripped those things away over the years. And now the thing you liked no longer has the qualities you liked in the first place, and it's like a hollow shell, a zombie replacement of that thing. That's where I'm at right now.

It might be that I was a character designer myself so I get hung up on the little details of a given design.

The game made a lot of minor changes to suits to bring them more into a 'real life' style setting.
No harm in wishing it was more like the comic than the game, similar to how some want a certain design to be more like the comic than the movie.

Though trying to make something match the comics is another thing entirely because you might prefer one artist's rendition over another.
I'd personally want a high quality Bob Layton Iron Man figure if I could but I know my best choice is going to be some mix of all the different artists.

I didn't love all the lines added to some of the comic suits in that game, and I don't collect Hot Toys, but I'm happy for you anon. It does look like a solid figure and it's by no means a bad take on the suit, and I understand the added detail was necessary for realism, it's just still not my favorite.

My most wanted figure of all time was 1000Toys Hellboy, and I'm so satisfied with him. Can't wait for their Abe and Lobster Johnson, and hopefully we see more from them.

That's true... probably have a prototype already made but must be underwhelming without the venom emblem on his torso, and he would have to come with at least 4 different expressions for it to be good not including the half human half symbiote head.. I just hope there's some venom DLC coming to spider man ps4 soon.. maybe that design will be decent enough for one of these vgm hot toys.

I've never owned a hot boy but this one was a must fucking have. Especially the level of detail. You can't deny it's greatness. Detail, articulation, accessories, and the fact the fixed some of the issuse i guess the older spidies had with the costumes getting clumpy if posed too long.

I checked everywhere to make sure it wasn't out yet and came back to this thread several times Thursday, figured "eh they usually announce stuff and then wait weeks to months to actually let you buy them" and then didn't come back here for the night. The last post I saw was the one right before you guys said it was up, around 5 pm. I checked the thread at 7 am the next morning and it was too late.

I'm on the wait list. If it doesn't convert I'll just pay scalper bullshit prices. Some other things I collect include sofubi so I'm used to getting raped.

Nah, I can see why someone wouldn't like it. The detail ruins a lot of the charm of the simple comic design, which is a very streamlined Spider-man. With all the textures and extra lines and things added to the figure/game model it takes away the graphic impact of the design. Now its very clearly a person in a skintight costume, like a morphsuit, which can be a bit uncanny.

Reminder: this is the costume from the GAME. It is the best and sexiest version of the scarlet spider suit to date. If you want the comic friendly version, go to Walmart and fight the 7 year olds for the Marvel legends verson. That is all.

What in the fuck are you talking about?
Most mainstream comics are drawn in a fairly realistic way to the point where the costumes don't have too changed all that much for when they are adapted to movies. Does slapping a bunch of detail lines over the spandex animal costumes make them seem more realistic to you for some reason?

Scarlet spider is literally a red suit covered in impossible black shadows. It will never look like it does in the comic because of how light physics actually work unless you print it on the figure.

This is, once again, why I think the classics Scarlet is the best we've gotten so far for that first appearance look. The deep metallic red they chose actually does create some pretty good shine and light/shadow variances. Not as good as the crisp black shadows of the art of course, but I feel it's a good compromise and definitely looks better than the flat, pale red plastic of the first version.
