>>7615685ome people have theorized that Wild Hearts Crew is Matty’s attempt to tap into the same energy and spirit that Monster High was famous for. A spiritual successor. But after closely examining this doll and reading the enclosed pamphlet, I beg to differ.
MH had a goofy premise and lots of bad horror puns to keep everything lighthearted. The characters were well defined from each other in looks, personality and fashion choices.
Kenna’s pamphlet shows none of that great MH humor in the flavor text. It’s all very “serious business” about following your heart and not taking things at face value. All the dolls have the same fashion type of hipster skank wear. Plus all the clothes the same range of colors, black with intense pinks, reds, and purple with turquoise as an accent color.
In that regard, WHC is catering more towards the “Woke” movement than anything. The clothes and looks of the dolls are similar to your typical SJW than to teenage werewolves. The curvy body with aggressively molded on undies is similar to the SJW “nu-church lady” sexual dichotomy. Any reference to MH is an in-house, royalty free pop culture reference bonus, because SJWs love their pop culture analogies. Watch as an occasional He-Man or She-Ra image reference gets thrown into the mix the closer we get to that fabled new He-Man movie in 2021.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Mattel used this line to launch a doll that is transgender, non-binary gender-fluid, or some such nonsense. They can get all the media brownie points for being “first” major toy manufacturer to introduce a doll with such traits. All the while they play it safe for not fucking up Barbie for introducing a tranny as Bab’s new best friend and thus angering soccer moms.
