Hasbro was shit before the vacuumed up their competition though, and Mattel has at least respected what they got instead of rebranding or burying it. Stuff they obtained from buyouts and can barely handle well. Plus Hasbro can barely sell SW thanks to years of the same characters over and over and may lose that soon as they may opt not to renew it. Overwatch is still just a shit TF2 clone that will fizzle out in 6 months, if Blizzard doesn't go out of business, and don't forget they had to fire 500 people and use their salary money to buy Power Rangers, so karma is gonna bite them.

Hell, Jerry Only may decide to sue them soon and if he does, he's guaranteed to win. Would be fitting, after Hasbro lost their baseless lawsuit against DC over Bumblebee.

See above- Hasbro's had nothing but failures outside of the TF films and even those are starting to fail. Then again if the rumors are true that Michael Bay is doing MOTU, it'll suck. All his movies suck. Bayformers was only successful due to "hollywood accounting" saying they were.

I remember when the 440-X2 was still a Tyco product, still made in Hong Kong (not China) and was still a quality slot car. After Mattel bought them, the production was moved to China, the quality took a massive pants shit and the store presence ceased entirely.

It's possible.
If all but two properties are profitable for them, they can still go out of business because everything else will drag them down, including any loans, investments, outside holdings, and future projects that won't be fully developed for years to come.

It's how TRU went out of business, despite the stores themselves being highly profitable.

Media companies like MGM also go down the tubes like that, despite holding high value properties.

Plus, what happens if something goes out of style or there's a couple of weak years?

The "fanboys" were pissed it wasn't the Sunbow designs over and over and that "modern realistic Duke" got favored over "that character from 1992 that barely anyone remembers". The fucktard issue with the sequel movie getting pushed back also caused retailers to lose interest in the toys for that film, coupled with them not even bothering to get Renegades toys onto shelves until the show was over- and then doing that dream sequence overdub of 80s footage in the final episode to say the whole show was 80s Duke having a nightmare after a head injury(they actually got Michael bell in to do that). They had to pander tot he ARAH crowd too hard, and yet the CoD crowd really didn't give a shit when they did try for "modern" because it wasn't official CoD merch so they didn't know or care.

They tanked Joe. MLP stays on for some unknown reason, likely because the actual toys are cheap to make and retail for low prices so the actual buyers can eat them up(the "bronies" aren't buying a damn thing). Transformers is technically Tomy's property but Hasbro more or less has free reign to run it now, yet could technically lose the license if Tomy wanted to. Jem's attempted revival bombed miserably on all fronts despite trying to force it out. They let a lot of their other 80s properties and their acquisitions fade with barely any real revival outside of a couple of toys, and COPS isn't coming back whatsoever. I hear Inhumanoids is a no-go due to legal issues.

A few years ago, they made a "fan series" of $30 adult collectible figurines, looking as decent as their modern designs can, they ended up on clearance everywhere. In the meantime, a 3rd party company has continued to regularly release $10 replicas of the original 1980's ponies at Target, and they just keep selling. But everybody online said original ponies were a dated and uncool garbage product, surely some fucking furry would be a solid source of merchandising advice.

TRU's business itself was highly profitable (like MAttel being highly profitable with various lines), but through bad debt/loan/investments, it can spiral out of control and eventually go out of business.

Thomas the Tank Engine is literally in its death throes right now. Instead of cool stories about train shenanigans and mishaps, it's turned into a "learn about political correctness and other countries" show. All of the OG Thomas toy lines have been redesigned and suck now. My local Walmart and other retail stores don't even carry the toys anymore. They've alienated both their child fans and adult fans.
I think the purchase of the Thomas franchise and the poor business decisions they've made with it are the reason Mattel is dying. They bought it just before Paw Patrol came out and absolutely decimated Thomas.
Example of poor decision making: Day out with Thomas is a big moneymaker for Mattel and real railways. Railways purchase the rights to have a Day out with Thomas from Mattel. Mattel raises the licensing rates and puts more restrictions on railways. They are forced to use Mattel's full sized fake Thomas engines instead of their real railway engines to represent Thomas. An absolute MASSIVE amount of the railways jump ship. Even one of the railways that the creator BASED THOMAS ON now hosts PAW PATROL DAYS.
TLDR; Mattel f****d Thomas, so Thomas f***d Mattel. Enjoy your Hasbro toys.
