Anyone else collect Guyver figures and want to share. Was the first series I started collecting back in 2004/2005 and one of the few tv series that has 20+ scale figures

This is the bottom shelf.

I also have the BFC Guyvers and Murikami, but they never scaled well with the others imho, so I haven't added GII or Murikami. Would be nice if we got them in figma scale one day.

I have a couple of kits to build and some more BFW figures arriving this week, so i'll post more as I add them.

Missed out a long time ago on pretty much every Bio-Fighter figure... Except the 1.5 Guyver 1, since some better retailers got it, but not the others.

Also completely messed up and forgot to get Guyver 3 figma at launch... and now he's just mostly selling for crazy prices.

But I did get the two massive knock-off Gigantic figures for 50% off when the manufacturer was shut down and a place was liquidating them.

Yeah, I was fortunate enough to start collecting just after the BFC Guyver III came out. They only cost me between $50-$100 each back then.

I remember when Imakarum went up for pre-order for over $100 and I thought that was a lot back then.

For 15 year old figures they really were ahead of their time in every respect. Worth it if you can get them!

Nice display! Sorry to hear you missed out on GIII! I see there is a bootleg now that is still selling for $70 which is crazy!!

I skipped on that soft vinyl 1/6 scale Guyver, but the Sanken Gigantics awesome! Really hoping Figma do that 1/6 GI & GIII to pose with them!

There are 1/6 Guyver 1 and Guyver 3 figures being made... They are not figmas, but still made by Max Factory. They are going to have a super articulated Skeleton.

Guyver 1 has been showing up for a while at toy shows, but the Guyver 3 prototype has shown up recently as well.

I'm not sure whether bootlegs are the right word. They are more like unlicenced 3rd party upscales.

They were released by Sanken Studios back in 2016. They were originally $300 each, but just before Sanken got shutdown they sold the 2 as a set for $300.

They are incredibly good quality. The articulation, paint, sculpt are top. They also have LED's installed in all of the power orbs.

The only downside was the lack of accessories, particularly with the Gigantic Dark which only came with one set of hands and no chrysalis. Only plus was it came with a stand which the Gigantic didn't. Which reminds me, I really need a 2nd stand.

It's a shame Sanken got shut down, they showed off prototypes for more upscaled and improved BFC figures after releasing the Gigantics, and they looked just as good.

In college, I ordered a vinyl model kit of Guyver. Icut the armour bits out and glued them onto a vinyl black body suit on a G.I. Joe body. I then trimmed the hands of the g.i. joe so I could slip and glue the model kits fists over it like a glove. I did the same to the feet. I painted the detais in on the head, and removed the joe head entirely and attached the modified model kit head, made to hold in place with a custom peg joint. That was pretty much the only way to get a figure of him. It was my first successful custom. It hasn't held up well over time, only because the body suit is crackling and flaking.

I got the first two posable Guyver figures by Max Factory (III and I in that order)
And thought they were amazing. My III is still in near mint state. My Guyver I crumbled at the joints one day like the Control Unit got broken. No regenerations here. Haven't had a new one since.

Makes me wonder whether GSC got to them and then stole thier idea. It just takes them a lot longer with licensing and so many other properties to juggle.

Think it appeared at a WonFes a few years back before we saw the unpainted 1/6 articulated body. Wonder if it has been shelved. I like the light up eyes!

Being a Guyver fan is among the most depressing things you can think of when it comes to being fan of any franchise (except Star Wars I suppose). I loved the original ovas, I liked the 2005 series but it ended when it started getting really good and the manga is most likely never going to return. I have two of the three figmas they've released but the chances of more down the line are next to impossible despite the fact that they sell most of the production run just fine.

I want to get some of the old figures but it's kinda hard and while I'm really looking forward to the 1/6, I'm positive it's going to be overpriced and considering import taxes it's maybe too hard to justify.

But I still love this thing and probably always will.

Well, yes. Going back to Guyver, I've yet to read the manga, will I rage at some huge cliffhanger when I get to the most recent chapter or something? I've heard it gets pretty epic when it goes beyond the 2005 anime.

It's well worth reading if you enjoyed the anime. The first 30 volumes are available scanlated online. Currently if you want to read 31-32, the group requires your proof of purchase for the 2 Japanese tankabons. It's an attempt to help support the franchise, but i'm not sure how relevant it is now it's been on hiatus for over 3 years.
