-Many toys had paint all over the place, and that's getting cut.
-Hasbro never had other outlets to advertise the rest of the cast, so most toys in the line never got any appearance outside of club comics. We didn't get a major appearance for most of the cast until IDW made the Gathering and Ascending comics (which also included a number of Japan only figures), and that was years after the line was over.
-Japan did a huge effort to advertise most of the early toys and made new beast formers and tweaked a large number of them, but fell off hard after Transmetals are introduced since they weren't that popular. Japan MP's are bringing them back to the limelight, but it's just the characters from the early seasons.
-Hasbro has done virtually nothing to keep them relevant, with the few new toys being really spread out. At least they're doing an effort to reintroduce Cheetor and Blackarachnia, with the chance to introduce a few more in the future for a new generation.
