Best figure is the Robot Spirits Eva 02 beast, has fantastic possibility, nice clean paint apps and limbs have great range of movement.

The Revoltech also looks ok (I haven't owned it) but the Robot Spirits has the advantage of not having Revoltech joints, cleaner paint and nicer matt finish.

It's pretty subjective.

The Rebuild designs from the first moved were good updates I thought, they kept enough of the original design to maintain that iconic-ness, but changed enough to make it more modern...

But once you get into Rebuild 3.0ish they start changing the design a lot more, once you get to that point it becomes just a matter of personal preference. In terms of the Rebuild movies, I like the earlier designs more then then the later ones.

Forgot to say, the one annoying thing about the figure is the green things in it's back are attached with little ball joints so they're articulated, but they can fall out a lot, I had been thinking of superglueing mine into place.

The Revo also comes with an awesome blood spray accessory that works with any 3mm joint peg (Figma, Revo etc).

Nope, those would be Eva-01 TV ver, Sachiel and Mass Produced Eva.

If it's not broken don't fix it! The rebuild shit is just uglier redesigns of EoE with stupid color stripes added on. The TV designs were perfect as they're, still I would want Eva-02 from EoE to recreate worst girl death.

I own the Revoltech one, I think it's more accurate and have nicer paint (look more organic). However the turquoise tubes on mine got broke (I tried to glue it, bit it broke again), besides that it's solid figure and comes with awesome accessories as >>7629179 noted.

So is this the Evangelion general then? With the series now on Netflix and the teaser for the final movie I think the Eva fans are coming out of the woodwork.

I just got the Metal Build Eva 01. About to open it now. I have not been so excited for a figure in about a decade.

some issues with them, but for the most part will definitely agree there. 02 should not have had those white parts added, kept the orange. But IIRC the additional two horned bit on the head further ties references to some kind of 4 eyed biblical/revelations beast which I feel is a nice touch.

For most mecha figures I’d go with RD over Revoltech, but I feel like the wonky Yamaguchi sculpting really works for something like this where it’s supposed to be gross and warped and leaping around going apeshit. The RD is very clean and slick compared to the Revo, which is an advantage most of the time but comes out looking a bit awkward here. Remember when you couldn’t mention Evangelion on /toy/ without derailing the thread into brand wars? I almost miss those days compared to the shit we put up with nowadays.

No.
Beast Eva 02 is the only non-retarded new addition. All of the design updates, new Evas and new angels are awful.
The plot is just Eva but more happy and harem focused which just makes it a generic modern super robot show.
