Other News: First releases of Iron Spider waldo legs are very fragile. Soak in hot water before gently moving them to decrease chances of breakage. Certain revoltech joints can fit into the legs and back piece if you've already hamfisted it.

No confirmation. It was some screenshot off youtube comments. Not sure if international buyers can rely on it. I kept my preorder, did the hot water thing and he's all good now. Looking at it, I doubt any reissue would fix the problem much. To have the legs accurate proportion and shape wise it'd always be that thin plastic. The real issue is that the paint dries up with the edges of the joint, what breaks it is when you force this to turn as it's still sticking to the edges of the hole the joints are on... so hence the warm water trick.

Got my alien in yesterday, boy is it huge.
Big issue though, the female joint in the ab has a crack in it, so the ball slips out easily. It'll stand in place if I don't move it but otherwise the whole things splits like the titanic.

Hard to say if die cast would be the answer considering how light the main figure itself is. I think a joint design like revoltech is where it'd be the right solution, if you hamhand the joint it splits apart and you can put it back together and the pegs that connect into them are strong enough to not break.

I have to say though, at the moment he is my favorite MCU figure. Just too fun to pose alongside my shf endgame thanos.

It depends.

Their older figure are QC nightmares, but the majority of their current releases are really solid. Their only recent figure of theirs with really poor QC was the Xenomorph. The X-Men and Jordan should be good, but if you want to wait till reviews come out before picking them up that's perfectly understandable.

Have to note that the Iron Spider figure itself has good sculpt articulation and paint but the part with the mechanical spider legs is stuck due to paint in the socket, once you fix it with hot water trick, the whole set is fine. Still a troubled release but yet a different issue than the big chap has.

Got my Alien figure today. There’s a lot I like about this fig. I like its whole hip movement system, I like its head/neck setup, knees and elbows feel really good, its back tentacles and spike joints work really well.

I only have two issues with the figure, it’s left arm WILL NOT STOP FALLING OFF, at the slightest movement.

And it’s right tow joint also keeps falling off, I don’t know why they used a weak ball joint for the toes when they could have used the same pin mechanism everyone uses for toes, it’s not like it needs to do anything other then go up and down. Aside from that the three piece foot seems pretty sturdy.

I’m going to have to look up how to fix it, nail polish on the ball?

Just got my alien, along with Evil Deadpool and Spiderman.

The Alien is a mess, it falls apart easily and is a pain to pose.

Spidey and Evil Gwen are fine, but like most Mafex they don't *feel* amazing to play with.

This is my biggest gripe with mafex desu, they are never hand candy, I have never ever wanted to just play around with a mafex like I do with some other lines.

SHF usually have the best feel, not all of them obviously, but their Bruce Lee, Freddie Mercury many of the Dragon Ball, Street Fighter and MCU figures plus some others are great.

Some of the Amazing Yamaguchis once you get used to them, but only the simpler ones like Wolverine, Spider Gwen and Spider Man.

The Storm Mortal Kombat Ninjas are amazing, I keep Scorpion on my desk so I can play around with him, it's a shame their figure quality is so uneven.

Agreed about mine. Although I have comic Spidey and he also feels great. Only issue with my Wick was one of his legs was super tight at the hip. Popping the leg off at the ball joint and popping it back on fixed it and it's smooth as butter now.

Did anybody fix their Deadpool?
Mine only has one leg with very stiff articulation and it kinda pops like a Revoltech when I make him kick up. Used the hot water trick but no luck.

Yes. And it didn't look like a dude in a suit to me. Shoulders are too low and droopy, and not broad enough. Torso is too short and thin. Legs and arms are ludicrously skinny. The SHMA sculpt doesn't look like they were trying to capture the suit at all, it looks more like they were trying to capture their idea of a Xeno.

The Mafex, for all its problems, nails the suit proportions nearly perfectly in my opinion. I'm kind of stunned looking at this comparison how closely it mimics Badejo's silhouette.

Yeah, one thing I like is the whole upper arm/shoulder area. The more prominant shoulders/deltoid on the Mafex has that 'man in a suit' look that the Monsterarts, with it's lack of defined shoulder doesn't have (it looks like it sort of just sloapes upwards from its arm to it's head).

It's a lot better than it was, but still a gamble.

I've received 5 Mafex's in the past week, and 4 of them were good.
The 5th one was the Alien, which is not so great at staying on one piece.

Who told you that? I love my SHFSS W, but it's not a paragon of posing or anything in my book. If I were to talk about the funnest SHFs to handle in my collection (keeping in mind this is all about feel and poseability, not sculpt or paint), I would say stuff like the original First/NEXT Riders, Gills, or the OG Kabuto molds. Sure, they've got some proportion issues compared to SS, but those feel way better and can hit a wider array of poses. To this day no SHF has topped the Kabuto dual hinge + balljoint ankle design in terms of range.

One of the biggest issues to me with SS figures is the hips. I acknowledge that this hip style looks a lot better than the old dropdown style, but the range sucks. Some of them can barely hit 90 degrees vertically, and it feels like the crotchpiece is really wearing on the matte coating when you raise them that high or rotate the thighs when raised.

That was me. The idea is to get a pin or screw into the centre of the stuck peg that will let you pull it out.

There's a few ways you can do it, including drilling out the peg, but the basic idea is the same.

W is probably called the gold standard because he looks so good, the suit design vs the joints are really well integrated and is actually very poseable. I'd say Wizard wasn't a widely beloved show/Rider but whenever anyone says best executed SHFSS, I think of him. I just got Zanki and that figure is amazing too.

The thing with Bandai is just how sharp the details are and just how solid the plastic are. Their pegs are tiny but I've never broken one single joint nor figure. They'd have tiny panel lines and details, yet nothing comes out mushy. I can't consistently say the same for Mafex nor revoltech despite loving the two lines as well. I've never broken any mafex nor revoltech but I've definitely had to soak my Iron Spider to free up his mechanical leg joints and I'm not too eager about how his crotch+legs are all from a fairly rubbery plastic

don't do the space heater thing... it'll take longer to get to the joints inside and you run the risk of melting the outer layer of the paint. just do a soak in warm water (not boiling), leave it in for a min or so, then slowly pull out the pegs from both the back piece and the end where it meets the leg. it's the safest thing to do.

Her left leg likes to pop off and I don't like how her feet are on exposed revoltech type joints since they make her hard to stand without her stand but otherwise she is good.

trust me guys, if it doesn't slide out easily, soak it longer in warm water, set a timer for 5 minutes, leave it then come back for it later. If it still won't slide out, don't twist or swivel it, soak it some more in more warm water.

It'll pop out. This is the safest way to get the joints out. I've done this for mine and I helped my friend with his mafex iron spider too safely and his was stuck worse than mine. be patient with this issue, just keep soaking it. if you get impatient, think about how much more it'd suck for them to break inside the back piece than to leave it alone for 5 more minutes in warm water.

Beautiful! I really like the variety we get from Mafex, I always find myself most excited to see what they reveal these days, even though I have barely any faith in their QC. Hope they improve the hips with these releases, that's the only part about my Mafex comic Spidey that I quite dislike, it's not the prettiest and is a little loose

I'm gradually getting more faith that they'll give us a Raimi Spidey eventually

I don't think they'd be opposed to making a comic spider-gwen first, since they're releasing gurihiru's future miles and still doing spider-verse miles. it's probably more that spider-gwen doesn't really have an iconic art style to shoot for.

But while we're talking about crackpot theories, I've got one. Medicom only got the license to make Michael Jordan/only negotiated to include the Jordan 1s because they couldn't get the license for the shoes with Miles.

Yes I know it's my favorite Amazing Yamaguchi but it has faults and the unmasked head looks pretty bad, Mafex would do it better with good enough articulation and normal looking one at that, the shoulders on Gwen are pretty rough
