Do you think anyone at blizz sees these shelfwarming and getting marked way the fuck down and realizes that they missed the window to sell these things by two years?

Like I was scrambling trying to find 3rd party OW toys around mid 2017 and now that the game is effectively unplayed by anyone except for shippers I see toys of my mains and just can't be assed to care.

Stopped by my local GameStop and I guess some guy is going around to all of the ones in a 20 mile radius and putting them on hold. The guy working there said if the other dude doesn't grab them today he will hold them for me tomorrow.

I'm pretty much all-in on at least the ultimates stuff because I like the game and they're fun toys, but yeah they definitely missed the boat. And I like most of the figmas I own, but they should have just gone with hasbro from the start. Two semi-highend lines for the same property at the same time/scale is stupid and shows why it almost never happens.

Yeah, Overwatch getting mass market toys now (both Hasbro and Lego) is extremely weird. Even at the start I don't know if they'd been a huge success, but it would have definitely been better than now.
Personally I don't care, I'll still buy the characters I like though

It's honestly sad because just seeing the hasbro stuff killed all my motivation for collecting anything. The 3rd party and figma girls look so much better but are so out of scale with the hasbro stuff and the general style of the figures is really jarring when side by side too.
Doesn't help we're probably never ever getting a big D.va with Meka either, cause that's about the only thing that could convince me to go in. Just got not connection to the game now after god knows how long since Brigitte ruined it.

Blizzard has been hit hard financially all around. WoW is so old no one really cares anymore but the players who sunk years into it. Overwatch was sold on the waifus, everyone else stuck to TF2 since it's functionally the same game and is free. The loot box bans have hit them and many other companies bad because they relied on swindling people with those to make real money now. I think the toys now are less "people want these" and more "we need a revenue flow FAST, get some merch out" desperation.

Toys should have been out fall 2016 instead of now. I love the designs but just find it enjoyable to play anymore and force myself. I dropped comp around S6 and haven't touched it since.

Man, I really don't know if I would buy an Orisa figure. I liked her playstyle a lot and she was my third most played character, but I've never been a huge fan of her actual design. And I seriously doubt we'll ever see an OR15 or Nullsector Orisa figure...

I haven't played Overwatch in years, but I want toys and will get the ones I want since Pharah and Mercy figma are coming this year. I still want a Zarya figma but if worst comes to worst I'll get the Hasbro one which looks ok.

Without another big 50 dollar deluxe in this next wave, though, I'm afraid of not getting all the tanks. If they get one in the next wave, and go for every other wave, it'll be Wave 9 by the time we get all of MEKA, Roadhog, Orisa, and Wrecking Ball, and I honestly don't think there will be a Wave 9. Just hoping to get what I want before the line is cancelled.

I think we will see another $50 deluxe at SDCC hopefully. I have no idea who. I think Big, Dva and Orisa are all strong possibilities. Probably not Hammond or Winston.

I think that's what confuses me about all this the most. Why the fuck didn't they jump on the toy wagon back when Overwatch was super popular, instead of waiting until the League bombed and general interest was on the decline?

You're mostly on the money except for this bit- besides being class based shooters they're really very different beasts, and to give Blizzard their due OW is definitely a better game than TF2. But that's really not saying much, TF2 is a barely-functional decrepit relic only kept alive by PRAISE GABEN XD redditors and Russian hackers.

I have played a ton of TF2 and Overwatch and they are pretty different in a lot of ways.

Two major ones, more subtle than the other.

First, matches don't run to "X points" for the most part, they just sort of run for a time limit and teams score as much as possible. Like you might run the same 2fort round for 2 hours.

More subtle, TF2 has ammo, Overwatch does not. in OW, it's easy to just turtle up in a corner behind a shield and stomp the other team indefinitely. In TF2, eventually, you have to go get ammo. This changes the game play dynamic more than you might think.

Honestly, the action of e"sports" just feels like too much. I caught OWL on TV one day while getting my oil changed at Wal-Mart. Even as someone who plays OW almost daily, I had a hard time following what was going on on screen. It just doesn't translate.

Probably not very accurate. One of the stores my guy called apparently showed Widow as being in stock at their store but when asked on the phone they said she had sold out. I'm not sure how often their inventory trackers actually get updated.

So unless you get a "Ready for Pick Up," they probably don't have it. I did this thing online that lets them hold it for pick up.

I was a little salty to find the Reaper I wanted was on hold, but not by a customer but one of the employees. They tried to hid it but were pretty obvious about it. I just said it wasn't a big deal, I just wish they would have said that instead of tell me to call them 2 days later.

I ended up getting Mei since I had been debating getting that figure at some point, and $20 is an amazing deal! Now my D.va Nendoroid has a buddy.

The Tracer and one of the Mei boxes were already open and both missing pieces (one was wearing the alternate head as well). Luckily the Mei figure I bought was still sealed with no pieces missing, but I totally would've bought the Tracer too if it hadn't been opened already.

I put together my Gibralter set.

It had a few surprises I didn't expect. One, it's two ships. If you have the Payload set with Tracer and Widow, it's 3 ships. I have it, but it's at work.

but if you feel like your interests have shifted and you're done with it, sell it. put it up on the BST for someone who's just gotten into overwatch and really wants to start their collection

This has been my reasoning too. And there's some light at the end of the tunnel, because there might be more Overwatch games coming out. So even if I totally drop OW at some point, D.Va herself might live on somewhere else. That's important for me with all of this.

Pros: I'm pretty sure they scale correctly, and the paint on it is still shockingly nice, so they look good together.

Cons: Mine came in pieces, which I've lost in the last two years since it came out, so no left gun or joysticks. More importantly, the canopy is SUPER opaque, so while she can sort of fit in if you take her legs off, you can't really see her in it. Also, one of the legs just broke so enjoy the last pic of them together I'll ever take.

The figma is roughly hand sized. The blizzard statue is just under 2 feet tall. I had to build a separate case for it bc it's so big and heavy.

Got my Rat and Stronk. They're much nicer that I thought they'd be. The paint isn't bad, the smaller detail are really nice like the tattoos and decals.
Zarya's gun is a really nice piece. I'm amazed at how they were able to include Zarya's lazer beam. Hasbro even includes up down hinges for her right hand for shooting. They really went all out with her.
Junkrat has a nice array of accessories, but suffers from articulation. His right arm is only single hinged and has patheric range. he can't stand up without his mine, but that's to be expected from someone with one leg.

I got junkrat and zarya, and she's easily the best in the line, maybe in my top 5 of the year just because they did my main justice and I never thought she'd get anything at all. She's got great range, solid paint, and her face is one of the best prints I've seen. No trouble holding the gun at all, which is also huge and very well detailed. I fucking love this thing.

Mostly agreed on junkrat, but I want to say his articulation is actually pretty great aside from the elbow? The torso, hips, and neck are perfect for getting his slouch right, no problems with not being able to crunch forward or look up enough. The worst of it is probably the boot foot, because it ends up putting a ton of weight onto a single balljoint. It's already a lot easier with one of those foot peg stands that work with legends, but I'm gonna pop the ball out and future that too. And his box really does come with a ton of shit though, it got to a point where I was pulling stuff out of the tray and thinking "jesus there's still more?" to myself. Overall I love him too, he's just gonna take some finessing.

My pink MEKA has started to topple over. Anyone else have this problem? I bought it maybe a year ago, and it seemed really sturdy back then. But seems like over time is has started to lean more and more forwards, and now just randomly falls over, if I don't prop it up... kinda disappointed, desu.

Funko Pops are pretty cheap, and I can understand why. But it's still disappointing to witness this first hand...

Yep I have all three and only my pink one still stands up properly. For the other two I'm using KO Act 4 stands to hold them up by one of the back boosters.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into this. All of my MEKAs have some quality issues, one was even missing a part (an arm rest) but I decided not to return it, because it would have been a big hassle.

Even with the stand my Carbon meka leans so far forward and the legs are so uneven it may as well be doing the Bow emote. I don't expect much from funko and the very top heavy design certainly doesn't help things but the stands do a good enough job of keeping them somewhat upright.

Typing in "10" instead of "100" as the price would make more sense, but yeah, it's a possibility. I once bought expensive Lego sets at a fraction of their real price, because someone had fucked up. It took them a few hours to notice the error.

What were you expecting, honestly? It said so on their site, when you preordered. All of the previous figmas and nendos have followed the same release schedule too. If you want to be the first in line to get the goods, you need to order then straight from the source.

I was expecting hasbro McCree to be a clusterfuck, but he's actually pretty great. The poncho doesn't get in the way nearly as much as I was afraid, it's pretty damned soft. And he moves around very well everywhere else too, the torso articulation setup continues to be a winner. About the only thing I'd have changed is to hinge his right wrist up/down to sell the fan the hammer pose a little better.

Overall, this whole wave has been a blast.

Because blizzard isn't the companies actually producing, making, or inquiring the licence to make toys from them.
Because development and sculpting of toys take a lot of time.
Because flavor of the month can come and go so some companies want to wait out to see if popularity holds.

Kinda weird seeing her on sale already...

But man! I wish the eurostore also had this many sales. Seems like there's always something on sale on the US side, while EU gets sales only occasionally. Not to mention there's less stock there to begin with.

Does anyone european here know if ordering from the US has more tax/VAT/whatever added to the prices, compared to say ordering from Japan? I have a pretty good idea what it costs when I order stuff from AmiAmi etc, but I've never used any US stores (that are willing to sell internationally) so those are a mystery to me.
