These 2 lines will share the same main body mold and thus be interchangeable with one another. The heads, hands, arms, torso, waist-knees, and shins-feet are all meant to be separated and switched around as desired.

Ya, with WWE figures being made in the same style, there was already a precedent for other brands being represented in the MotU style, so it'd make sense to ask. I assume the answer would be "stay tuned" or "you never know", but would have been nice for them to be acknowledged. Tbf though, outside of Pixel Dan and wrestling sites, no one else really covered these, and MotU was also bare minimum coverage with pics and not much more.

For sure, but Street Sharks or other properties would still be a cool addition to this line, would fit with lots of existing parts, and would be neat to be able to mix and match with other figures of the line. And there's also Thundercats, which if they still have the license, would be a great addition.

What's with He-Man.org? I've been curious about these figures and Origins and I figured that would be the best place to read up, yet I'm seeing more negativity than even here for both lines, and especially the WWE line. They're acting like somehow this and Origins are taking the place of Classics when Mattel hasn't even been making Classics since S7 took over, and seem to be spiteful despite that. These lines are primarily aimed at kids with collectors secondary, are they that insecure that He-Man, which was a property aimed at kids back in the 80s, is once again not about them? I don't get it.

He man has always been the one 80s brand that went out of its way to satisfy it's original consumer base first and ignore every consecutive market beyond that. Because of this, the die hard motu fans who congregate on heman.org are incredibly territorial and hands on about motu. Worse off than even the guys on tfw with transformers. Any change made to heman in bad in their eyes as a result.
As for the belly aching on here I think that's just par for the course. Many here on /toy/ have a hate boner for mattel, and would rather die than give them a fair chance. Plus, new lines usually gather a plethora of incoming faggotry, that's just par for the course on /toy/. I honestly think origins is exactly the fresh, but respectful start heman was looking for, and I have high hopes for the line.

King Hssss is 100% easy to happen with these new bodies, probably in a deluxe package to accommodate the snakes. Rattlor would require a retooled snake body which I doubt will happen. I assume that it's a pretty safe bet that any gimmicks in general will be handled the same way that Classics handled them. Like with Rattlor he would have an extra extended neck piece.

I'd imagine any Rattlor style WWE figure would either be Jake the Snake or Randy Orton. That said the neck would then be able to be used with anyone else due to the customizing nature of the figures. Faker Cena and I'd say Skull King Triple H are so far the only one that's inhuman looking if you removed all their gimmicks (speaking of I think Faker Cena's chest design should have been a CD player or maybe a platinum record), so I wonder if they'll stick with human looking characters for the most part, unless they have a variation like with these 2.

It shouldn't be too hard. It's too bad the franchise has such a bad fanbase that loves only the classic stuff, but I guess that isn't far off from let's say G1 transformers fans, where it's G1 or nothing. The thing with Transformers is they have many media outlets and new fans are always being made, whereas with MotU it's mostly just stuck with that diehard group of fans, as well as some flexible ones. That's why lines like Origins and WWE are needed, the franchise needs new fans. I hope these are both successes, and the movie is too. These could all lead to things like a new cartoon, and more, which is all good for the health of the franchise.

All this is mostly to get at this, that if brand new characters were to be made, with just that core cast remaining constant (He-Man, MAA, Teela, Skeletor, perhaps Evil-Lyn) it would more than likely be met with "where is Mer-Man? Where is..." so and so classic character. I feel like the fanbase needs to evolve and grow if we're ever going to get anything fresh for MotU again. 200X did a pretty good job, keeping many classic elements while implementing new characters and tribes, factions, mythology, etc. We need something like that again, but for it to stick, and also lead to more like it so that we can get growth for the property.

I wasn't so much talking about the toyline, but everything as a whole. 200X was introducing all these new ideas and twists and characters to the MotU mythology and I feel like that was all good for the franchise. But between bad decisions by Mattel, and Cartoon Network's decision making process at the time, it just couldn't sustain itself in that environment. I could easily see a 200X reboot existing on Netflix and doing well there. Being on Cartoon Network would result in something like Thundercats Roar, which who knows, could end up good I guess, maybe not for me, but I think anything that makes new fans has potential to be good for the franchise.

I'm really happy with all upcoming MotU releases, they all look like lots of fun. MCX is great as always, and especially great for those who haven't had the chance to get all of the current releases (like me). I'd love to get all the sets and have all the characters. Doesnt look like a complete collection will be happening, but I'd like to get what I can.

MotU Origins could use some work I think in terms of the facesculpts, but I'm nonetheless excited for them. I don't think I'll be in for everyone, but more the designs I'm a fan of.

MotW(WE)U looks like tons of fun, but perhaps because I like both properties. I wouldn't be as interested if they were basically just WWE wrestlers cosplaying as Masters characters, so I'm glad they went this route of simply being inspired by MotU but their own thing. It's also cool that you can take off all their MotU gear and essentially get wrestling figures in the Remco or MotU styles, for those that would like that. For both this and Origins, I'd like for them to find a good balance of extra parts and accessories (for example, they mentioned Reigns could lose his fist and others could use it, so I'd hope they gave him an extra hand, and same goes for Sting and his claw).

They'd have to do retooled snake body regardless. They aren't going to use a He-man buck for the snake men. I'm saying they could feasibly make such a torso with a spring action neck and still have all the swappable body parts that the other figures have.

Also I'm pretty sure other anon was thinking of just parts swapping Macho Man's head onto a Rattlor body, not an official figure release.

You say this, but I'm pretty sure Draego Man and the Griffin were pretty popular designs and neither were remakes of a classic figure.

Regarding the snake body, I meant that they'd have to retool whatever snake body they would make to include the spring gimmick, otherwise every snake man would have that feature, would kill the uniqueness of Rattlor. It would be interesting if they would make those one off bodies for the gimmicks, but Macho Man's armour seems to set the precedent that they'll keep things to be more like how Classics handled gimmicks.

For sure there are outliers, Draego Man in particular is a beautiful design, and the Griffin is a wild creature and a mount, so you can't really go wrong there. Then there's also Spector, Photog, Laser-Lot, and those others that weren't met with much interest. We also have a primary criticism of Origins that they don't have the vintage toy heads. Now don't get me wrong, if they included the vintage toy head as well as a more modern take on the characters, I feel like that would be a perfect way to sell these (or maybe they're planning the heads as a set, or exclusives, or who knows), but I don't feel like just because they don't have those exact heads that it ruins these figures. And the seeming disdain people have for the WWE MotU line, which has nothing at all to do with MotU or any money allocated to it (except for actually budgeting in things ahead of time for Origins), it just seems to unnecessary. People don't have to like it, but don't say things like they're ruining MotU because of the WWE line. There shouldn't be a fear of change or new. And it isn't like it's Classics or Origins, like some are painting it out to be, they're independent lines that are targeting 2 completely different audiences. But anyways.

There were old figures made by Remco that basically used the MotU base body, so I'm sure there are some wrestling fans who are sure to like these (as they've said, once you remove all their gear, they're basically just wrestlers). And I remember reading some user of a forum say that there kid loved the look of these, and ultimately, that's who these are going to be for, mixing WWE wrestlers/characters with fantasy elements. I also personally quite like the look of them, and I don't think I'll get all of them, but I'll definitely grab some. Didn't ask, do like.

He's John Cena, he's already getting a Faker variant, it's only a matter of time until we get a "You can't see me" variant of Cena. It certainly makes sense to have this first release be a regular one though, with the clear weapons as a nod to his catchphrase.

Also, Cena with his jorts perhaps making way for Street Sharks (maybe they'll figure it's close enough).

bet you that quite a few of the designers on the Origins/WWE lines are aware of the huge amount of crossover between He-Man and Wrestling figure molds both in the play patterns of kids back in the 80's and from the companies who made knockoff figures

so let's say that if they did give each Snake Men character all the unique parts they need, assuming that each of their molds would need to be at least partially reused on another figure at least once to cover the costs, what kind of concepts would you come up with to reuse their stuff?

Jake the Snake for sure. Depending on how they do it, Squeeeeze's arms could double as King Hssss arms with snake heads instead of fists. If they want to do 200x homage, they can use a rattlor body torso mixed with mecha-neck parts to make his snake form from the animated series. Kobra Khan uses skeletor arms and legs. And I think Squeeeeze is actually one they could get away with slapping armor on a human torso.

Spector isn't the best concept, but I'm fine with him since he can be used as filler for the Masters, not to mention since he's basically a Deadpool ripoff visually he'd probably sell pretty decently

So among these and what I assume is wave 2, plus New Day, we have 1 unaligned (Sting, who's obviously Heroic despite the designation), 3 Evil (the two Triple H and assumedly Faker Cena), and everyone else is Heroic (8 total), which means the good guys more than double the bad guys. So let's play a game, who could be added to the Evil side? If you want feel free to add what gimmicks they may have (can be a mix, like how Macho Man is inspired by both MAA and Battle Armour characters) and how they might look.

Feel free to add in some heroes too, but we're trying to even up the odds a bit. And aim to have things that are feasible for release, like sure, George Steele inspired by Grizzlor makes sense, but that would likely never happen.

Character wise, I'd like to see Randy Orton, Undertaker, and Kane all play for the Evil side.
Undertaker as Skeletor (hooded, robed, and staff (maybe the raven on top, or his symbol)) would be my choice. He could have another version without the hood and robe down the line.

Tytus would probably be too big, but if they could have a slightly bigger body, that would be able to be used for characters like Ram Man and other suitably large characters, it would be well suited for WWE's various giants. Big Show, Braun, Andre, would be a good start.

As far as I can tell they're just naming them their wrestling names, but that would be a great title for him (Heroic Sergeant-at-Arms, as opposed to Master of Weapons like Duncan is). Now I want a show or short of these just to hear Sarge doing a boot camp for the good guys in his iconic voice.

The titles are pretty good so far, so I'm expecting fun stuff. And we have mini comics back for both MotU and the WWE figures. Gonna be fun getting some new little stories.

For something that some may not agree with, I'd like if they weren't afraid of details. They're like the vintage toys, but they're not, so why not up the sculpts as you did the articulation. Also the paint, Evil Lyn's staff looks like a piece of plastic, why not paint the orb to give it some life. Skeletor's could use a wash or some diversification too. MAA and Beastman may be even earlier than the others, but they need work in terms of head sculpts, sculpt overall, and paint.

Every review I see of these (the SDCC 2 pack) it seems like there's always so much positive to be said. I feel like this is a line one needs to get in hand to really get a feel for it and know if they will want more. Can't wait to give the WWE line a try to get a feel for these figures.

What figures if any are you guys planning on getting? I think I'll only grab Triple H and Balor or Sting to start, and if like them probably get the rest. Same for MotU and He-Man and Skeletor

There's a HUGE difference though between Dreago Man and those other characters, Draego is cool while the others are pretty fucking stupid. Castle Grayskullman was loved cause he was cool. Spector was shit and hated. See the difference?

probably because those came out rather late in MOTU's original lifespan, indeed there was a canceled figure that was going to be an absolutely enormous cyborg sauropod, as well as Battle Bones from a couple years prior(he's explicitly a dinosaur rather than a dragon or lizard)

Absolutely, but my point was that not everything new is going to be a hit like Draego Man (or Castle Grayskullman), and those others I mentioned were a part of the same "series" as Draego. That said, if we didn't get that wave of new characters we never would have gotten Draego in the first place. My point is that some new things will be hits, and some won't, but if no one is open to having new things, we won't ever get those hits.

But even if we don't like those designs, they're very likely someone's favourite. I can't remember where but someone asked in a forum if people think Origins will get to Photog. Idk if that was sarcastic, but usually everything has its fans, even if it's met with mostly negativity.

I feel like if they did a focus group for that group of characters they would have liked all of those designs (besides maybe Cy-Chop...). Cool dragon with fire weapons, ninja guy with energy blade, a knight with laser weapons, a camera face guy (kinda looks like a cannon face maybe?), and a rock golem with two swords (!!!). But I agree, getting the input of kids might bring back some outlandish but fun things that MotU was known for. I'd be happy with some dinosaur men (perhaps the ancestors of the Snake Men, that lived in the Preternia era) and such and I'm sure kids would love dinosaurs with weapons.

I don't think that's in the cards. They're going to cut the swappable hands and stick with the one holding one open hand set up. I can't imagine them adding better articulation to the hands either. If the horsemen get involved in redesigning articulation you can expect even less than the sdcc set has.

Coming from import prices the scalper price didn't even seem that bad.

That box is insane, as far as the actual figures, they are heavy and dense. Very satisfying weight. They feel almost indestructible.

The sculpt is very nice. Surprisingly detailed for a reimagining of an 80s toy. Both heads look really good they completely change the feeling of the figure tho.

The plastic is kind of inconsistent finish with a bit of swirl in parts. Most of it is matte but it has little shiny bits in places. It smells fairly strong of pvc. The paint is clean where applied.

Articulation is smooth and tight, but very limited. Mostly let down by the legs. The knees don't bend far at all, and the hips just cant kick very far forward.

All in all im excited for these at $15. Very fun children's line with build quality that feels like it could outlive you and your children.

The handfeel is the nicest thing here. Having seen transformers and the like get smaller and lighter with the years, these feel right downright massive.

Keep in mind I've never owned any prior MotU.

I'll take some pics when I'm home. ai did a side by side height comparison and he sees eye to eye with ml superior spiderman. He definitely doesn't look the height of an aryan ubermensch, but he still looks decent next to 6in figures. I think he'd work even better with figmas since they're a bit smaller.

What are the chances that two of the new mattel shows are both he-man related, with one of them being based on the MCX property and the other being a serious revival of the franchise? 21 shows is alot, and given the fact that MCX is one of mattel's most successful brands at the moment, I'm crossing my fingers that this is the case.

That would definitely be interesting. I'm not really sure they'd go that route with MCX but I'd be all for it. I also doubt we'll see a serious He-Man show like 200X, unless it's perhaps on Netflix, like Voltron and such shows. They could do an Origins type show though, make it humorous and in that style, short individual episodes with some loose continuity (same allies, villains, relationships between the characters, etc, those would carry over I mean) and that might be a good ad for the toys.

Well they are going to be direct to Netflix. So there may yet be a chance we'll see 2000X again? Tbh, I wouldnt mind a life in the dream house styled heman series with either the MCX figs or the origins ones. I don't really care for Adam's vest, but without it he's just pale he-man. Kinda thinking of giving the harness and sword to Adam, then getting some more savage looking weapons for naked he-man to go with his knife.

I think they're definitely too short to be in scale but they still seem well sized enough to interact with other lines. I love the continuity of these (especially the first pic, it looks he's stopped his actions due to surprise from the new attackers), and it tells a good, simple, and clear story. Nice dynamic shots too. Random connection, but it's got me really excited for the mini comics.

And a random thought, maybe they should have some sort of app, perhaps where you can collect the mini comics irl then store them in an app via QR or something, then be able to watch them unfold either as just a voiced story or a motion comic type story. Having them as a mini book is also a good thing too, but having that option may give it a collectible aspect that it wouldn't have otherwise. I guess cost could be a limiting factor, but I think it could help modernize MotU a bit for this current generation (of course, they'd need to want to get these figures in the first place, so perhaps a show would help in that respect).

At least if it’s not exclusive, I can buy at BBTS with a 5.5 figure.

Unfortunately, online retailers don’t seem to be jumping on single carded minifigs and it may be 5 pack or bust to keep them visible since online places are only interested in 5 packs or cases where the figs go. We’d be better off if Mattel just did 5 packs as the primary release.

My Stratos has been canceled. My Scareglow hasn’t. But at $100, I’ll sell and go buy some MOTUO.

With Power Con next week that surely brings some reveals with it. Let's say we're getting 4 reveals for MotWU and MotUO each, who would you like to see?

I'd like to see prototypes for wave 2 of the WWE line but if they were just drawings at SDCC it may be too soon for that. For reveals, I'd like to see some more villains in the line, so I'll throw out Goldberg (as a Ram Man hybrid), Lesnar (maybe Beast Man like armor, but with perhaps an axe and sword), Undertaker (Skeletor like motif, but basically as if Taker was himself in one of his various entrance attires), and I'd like The Fiend (not sure what he could have for gear) but it's probably too early for him to get a figure. Just because of what he represents (even though Balor is "Heroic demon king") I'd say Taker would be a villain, so that would be a 3-1 for the villains in this wave.

For MotuO I'd like to see Stratos, Tri-Klops, Fisto, and Jitsu. In general I'd like for them to sharpen out the sculpts for these overall. Like was mentioned in this thread, they (mostly MAA and Beast Man) feel like they're a step behind the rest and the WWE figures.

Excited to see more nonetheless. Haven't been particularly excited for Power Con in quite some time. I'd also like to see more Mega Construx, but they already showed a ton so who knows if they have more waiting.

I just hope it's easy enough to get ahold of in the UK without paying rape prices like the mcx stuff. Wrestling toys are always big, even over here, so I feel like we'd be more likely to get them, but it wouldn't make sense to bring those over without MOTUO, but Forbidden planet carried the filmation retro7 figures so hopefully they'll take these new lines too.

Also, the removable Torso and lower half makes me think they want to bring in some kind of customisation, so I'm hoping for accessory packs like 200x armour and weapons for He-Man, clean shaven Duncan with some new weapons or armour, Alcala Skeletor pack, all red beast man. I feel like that's something that could really please collectors, increase sales of single packed figures if you make kits that can make it new characters or different variations, and I can't think of any other reason to as that mid split in the figure

The line is coming out in the Fall of 2020, it's possible this is still an early prototype. Or maybe it's a cost saving measure and Battle Cat will only cost 15-20 bucks. Who knows. I assume they're going to have interviews and a panel where they'll discuss there.

With regards to MCX Battle Cat, he should at least have movement in the forelimbs. If he's anything like some of their other animals he should also have hind limbs as well as neck, at least.

I imagine it would work the exact same way as the Classics, you add in an extended neck piece. Removing the play features makes sense given the interchangeability. Would be neat if they added a couple of extra neck pieces so you could extend it more than just an inch or whatever higher. Or maybe even an extending neck piece, that way the play feature still exists but doesn't mess with the base figure.

I was really confused when they didn't just make the rideable motu mounts part of breakout beasts. I appreciate the attention to detail, making them very accurate to the filmation models, but the lack of articulation definitely is a loss. I've already seen people on instragram partner up mcx he man with loyal subjects battle cat, so I might just follow suit.

Goldust is a legacy character that's existed for years, and there's probably some sort of Legends deal with Dustin for the character, or maybe it was just since it was done at the time it was ok to make. For Ambrose, with him leaving and seemingly blindsiding everyone who thought he was just taking a break and joining WWE's main "enemy" right now, I'm sure that didn't endear them to him. That said, I doubt WWE would leave money on the table assuming they can make Ambrose merch, so if a Rollins shows up in Shield like gear too then maybe an Ambrose will show up? But I personally don't think he's going to happen.

Who knows if they changed up how things are with their likeness rights, as in the past, when wrestlers would go to TNA they could have figures made. There just hasn't really been a direct wrestling company "competitor" in a while, or a figure company making other wrestling figures (which nothing has been confirmed for AEW), so who knows how that will work.

But even if they had his rights, would they really want to make an Ambrose figure if he's a wrestler elsewhere? Why advertise him? Same reason they haven't historically namedropped any other wrestling company, why would they want to acknowledge them and give them more attention? If they make him with his longer hair he'd at least look different than he currently does.

Power-Con Q&A from ToyHypeUSA

Mega Construx MOTU figures will be easier to find and offered as a mass retail release. We already reported that wave 5 is available to pre-order on Amazon.com.

The Fall 2020 MOTU Origins figures, most likely the Sky Sled will be offered at the same time. There will be case refreshing to offer the same figures seen in earlier waves to later waves just like how the 80’s line was offered.

New Masters of the Universe movie is in production. There will not be movie product. The MOTU Origins line is meant to be separate.

Castle Grayskull – The MOTU line is spread out and perhaps long term this will happen.

She-Ra Origins – Mattel will consider long term.

MOTU Classics – on hiatus is the official statement from Mattel. The focus is Origins and the Fall 2020 launch. All MOTU toys are made by Mattel right now.

All 80’s vintage figures – very possible this will happen as long as people are buying. This would include Horde members, Snake Men, She-Ra etc.

MOTU Origins – interchangeable hands are possible on higher price point items

Just the first 2 waves will make up a really nice series, especially with Battle Cat and the Sky Sled and Adam. Wave 2 beast will for sure be Panthor, then maybe a Roton? Solid lineup so far. And some oddball picks like Scareglow is a good sign I think. Hopefully we get some "1st time in the vintage style" figures too. Lots of cool characters didn't get any, like Lord Masque.

I think these 2 are my favourite of any figures in these 2 lines. I really loved Mysterio as a kid and he's what actually got me into wrestling when I happened onto a channel that was playing Smackdown, and I'm really happy with how this figure looks (lots of my favourite colours too.. sorry for the mini life story...). I think how colourful these are really makes them standout and look so great in my mind.

That would be a funny twist, MotU chars as wrestlers in the Elite line or something. As cool as it would be for these to go full crossover like the concept art (and oddly wave 3 barring Rock), it makes the best sense to have the wrestlers in this style first and foremost, then have armour, for better crossover appeal.

That was just a small synopsis, and for all we know that just lasts for one episode. I guess we also don't really know what happened since. I don't mind Teela getting a better focus, I think she was great in 200X for example.

I still worry about them saying it's a continuation though. Is Skeletor going to be barely a threat and call people boobs? Because if not then it must as well be it's own continuity.

>In 1980, CPI, through its agent, Conan Licensing Company ("CLC"), began negotiations with Mattel regarding the possible licensing to Mattel of certain toy rights in CONAN. You can clearly tell here >>7711755 that the Finn in the package is quite different from the one on display, the one in package being the final product while the one on display is the prototype.

Which ones do you guys think is more likely to be the final figure? The ones on display have a hand painted, matte quality to them, I feel like the ones on the slide are more likely final, with more toy like paint. I hope so either way, because the red on the eagles really make it pop.

Did they ever mention what’s the price points on the WWE figures and ring? Same as MOTUO?

Someone on the .org mentioned that next years SDCC set should be Keldor/Skeletor. That would be pretty bad ass if they do Keldor right.

Skeletor/Keldor is pure speculation. Keldor doesn't have a classic mini comic counterpart, so who knows.

Ya, that was what I first thought of, but no way we're getting a full other figure unless it was a exclusive and higher priced. Maybe a Cringer would be a cool pack in, or a more friendly Adam head. Or both. It would be great to be able to have a little side display with Adam, Orko, and Cringer where everyone is smiling while the fighting is going on elsewhere.
