So, according to the posts on the ThreeA blog, August 1st will be when ThreeA Toys closes its doors. ThreeZero will still be making and selling toys under Kim's management, while Wood has his "Underverse" plan on his way; probably art-only offerings like sculptures and prints, no toys whatsoever.

Sad day for fans of World War Robot, PopBot and Action Portable (of which I quite like), and besides the price raise to the remaining stock (and the gouging and scalping that comes with trading these kinds of toys), best to cherish what we all have so to give 3A one last hurrah.

Pity that Bambaland had to go, the ideas behind was fine, the execution very lacking in the custom toys landscape when it was relatable and since then.

Oh well, I'll keep an eye on anybody still selling these toys at affordable prices in the wild. Until then, good luck.

I’m not sure if there was anything beyond creating a brand image that meant they wanted two separate entities, but I feel ThreeZero is what ThreeA needed to be in order to survive, ie producing content for major IPs and getting mainstream attention.

Make sense, which is a shame, because 3A used to be better than 3 Zero. 3A still made some bomb ass figures late in life, but it's hard to enjoy that when your company is screwing the fucking pooch for two years.

I think it went down hill when peppermint was made? Because after her Adventure Kartel, WWR, and most of the tk stuff died out and it was Pascha and feet for two years with a smattering of TKS and some random non proprietary bots.

Insider info - all the licences 3a have had recently (Transformers, 2000AD etc) have been worked on nearly exclusively by Threezero, 3a's name have just been on them as they were initially Ash's 'idea'. Hence why it will be so easy for Threezero to take over the existing stuff of 3a's.

I wonder if anybody will pick up the slack in the 1/6th market now that ThreeS is officially kaput? I liked original effect when it came on the scene but it's pretty much gone now too and most of the stuff similar to what threeA was putting out is sky high in price.

I'm actually really glad I bought up a bunch of spare bodies off eBay when they were going to 11 or twelve bucks a piece so if any of my kitbashed dude's break I at least have back up bodies for them.

fair point, but hell even the modern bootleg bodies are selling well now. I do miss the art toy stuff which were basically imaginative 1/6th but there's more stuff coming out similar to them now to fill the gap, but it'll never be quite the same as 3A was. Saying that maybe I should part out my Handsome Wu.

He’s going to have to find a new factory, new designers, and actually do some work, so there’s no chance he’s gonna make anything good, and a higher chance that he will make nothing at all.

Well, the whole point of 3A was to do Ash's designs, while 30 was more anything else the company wanted to do. I for one was upset that the 3A transformers stuff didn't look like Ashley Wood's art; was hoping for this sort of stuff instead of ugly Bayformers or weird, dirty versions of Studio Ox esque designs.

Honestly I think his designs would have been fucking great and sold better had he been forced to make someone who wasnt Optimus, Bee, or Megatron. There probably would have been non-TF not loving 3A fans dipping in on it had it been some somewhat obscure bot.

I understand that Ashley Wood is an artist first, a toymaker second, but with all these details about "creative differences" and poor management between 3A's artwork and production units, they just reinforce the fact that Bambaland did not work at all as a distrubution platform for the brand's products. This also means that "Underverse" earns quite little respect and attention from me if Wood continues to run that as he ran ThreeA.

Among all of 3A's stuff I really desired is pic related, and frankly after long observations and review, maybe I'll give it a try. Blind Cowboy is another I want from 3A, and so's Ten Finger Gang.

Anybody else got something they really want from 3A, despite all of this happening?

Dead Astronaut Gangsta was 8 months late or more, Metal Gear Rex was if I recall almost a year late and arrived broken in a bunch of cases, and a zomb I ordered was 3+ months late.

Kept telling people they should not support and defend this this shit, majority didn't listen, and shortly after the quality control issues started to get out of control and the quality went radically down and things kept being delayed anyway.

Literally people were waiting 8+ months after payment on average to get broken in box toys, or ones that looked like trash.

Then the Paschas were just being printed in random variations constantly instead of doing anything good to boot.

This was the only natural next step, shits been spiraling the drain for years.

Probably because it didn't happen, QC issues were mostly limited to a few releases, like the new shadows, Rex, and the hornets. Most figures were devoid of QC issues, which is why 3A had such a great reputation for as long as it did.

Most delays happened late in the companies life, most releases came out when they were supposed to excluding some licensed stuff.

I'm making up bullshit, ok, definitely how this works guy. Every ThreeA board and group on the web was only full of salt and frustration for the last 3 years due to breaking toys and 6 month delays.

Anyone who spoke about it though has always been met with hostility just like this the moment you open your mouth.

You can't even use their support as a defense either even if it was good most of the time, there have been countless cases where people straight up were refused replacements or parts.

Either way regardless if you spend 200+ on a toy it shouldn't arrive broken out of the box or with two left hands requiring another month or more wait for a part to arrive.

You're full of shit, I used to get replacements all the time even on shit I bought second hand, when Cherrybomb came out an anon broke her hand and got a replacement, CS was normally on point all the time.

I'm not even defending 3A I'm just calling out bullshit complaints. You wanna talk shit about poor engineering and bad release schedules at the end sure, you wanna talk about Ash being a fucking retard with his business and producing nothing for 3 years, go ahead. I was honestly looking forward to when he'd push the toy narrative forward. The coolest piece we got was Evol Rothschild, with the line "i had to leave my moon" and "the war had evolved, and so had I" and his badass eyepatch and robot arm. I loved the idea of a rothchild who had finally been forced to take action personally, assumedly to survive his clients turning on him. But he clearly was proving difficult to kill, if not a fierce combatant in his own right.

He had a rather distinct and fairly consistent style that reminds me of Gorillaz and a bit of Genndy Tartakovsky's works. His cartoony angularity and minimalism was so refreshing in the 1/6 scale where everyone else always aims for maximum realism.

That was essentially why I liked threeA. I gave a shit about the story behind the toys or anything like tgat, I just liked the aesthetic. It felt cool to have something you liked on your shelf that wasn't based on a comic or tv show or franchise.

I have zero interest in the hyper realism and celebrity likeness worshiping that hot toys made everyone obsessed with in the 1/6th market.
