This will shock you, but prior to the release of The Lego Movie in 2014, the Lego General typically saw only 1-2 posts per hour. If a thread died in under a week, people complained that the thread was moving too quickly. It was a very nice, relaxed atmosphere because people didn't feel the need to constantly keep it bumped, and there was no rush to fill up the image slots so we could leap to the next thread every 48 hours like it is now.
Strangely, as the speed of posting increased, the amount of mocs being posted decreased. There used to be 8-10 submissions for the thread build challenges, because people had a full week to think about it and work on something, instead of only having a day or two before the thread dies.
