Whelp, those super speshul cars from germany I mentioned previous thread turned out to be just regular A case cars, but if nothing else they were almost all new colors, even if I have the models already. and a few doubles never hurt anyone

But did get a 64 chevy chevelle SS Which I wanted but did not find anywhere yet, and my first ever roofless boner shaker, since I have only been into the roofied versions, so that is pretty cool

Got some stuff at Target

Also decided to experiment and bought a toy car lot from Japan. It was expensive as hell, but I got a shit ton of Tomica in addition to Kyosho Ferraris and some weird stuff (Aoshima Tuner RX8).

Tomica Limited NSX-R is beat up and missing its tyres. I believe they fitted over the black discs (brakes). Should I just spring for a full tyre swap? How would I start with that?

I have a bunch of Tomica now that I have no idea what to do with. Also got a Siku Porsche and a real riders Shelby - GR1.

I really like Siku, but they are expensive as hell. In Sweden and China, they cost ~$6 a car. They're kind of large and have nice details, but still. They make German models that nobody else will like the SLR, so...

The only 1/87s I have in my collection are Model Power Minis I saw at my local hobby store; I don't really know anything about 1/87.

The Porsches are by Hongwell, the Mercedes are by Georgia, and the other cars are wind ups by a Japanese brand of some sort

Jap cars are all the rage. I mean, Americans never got the good shit that Japan had, like the Subaru STI variants or the Lancer Evo's I-VII. But in Diecast land however... I dunno, they just looked cool. I'll wait until the day we get a Hot Wheels model of the '00 Renault Clio V6. It's like the Renault 5 widebody, but cooler-looking in my opinion.

Glad to bump into another oddball too! Finally.
Personally I'm into 60s and 70s muscle cars, especially those made by GM. Dodges and Mustangs are great too. For sport cars I like especially Corvettes the most, and also all kinds of concept cars.
I don't hate European cars but I've always failed to see the appeal of something like say, Lamborghinis or Jaguars.
What about you?

Any idea how well Tomica does with collectors in the US? I have a lot of models that are used (from my Japanese lot) and a lot of models that are lame. Mentioned this before - I'm trying to consolidate my collection for money / Supreme Hot Wheels E30.

Yeah, it's kind of a one-off set. I couldn't pass it up because they priced it wrong (usually a 2pack is $15) and using the coupon it came to around $6 for 2 sweet rally cars.

Regarding those Jada F&F build a car sets... I found a TON of them at dollar stores last year. $2 each was too good to pass up. The wheels are pretty close to swappable with 1:64 stuff, so I went nuts. I still watch the Jada pegs for cool stuff, pic related.

Regarding Tomica in burgerland... Lot of collectors like them, even though the price to import is a turnoff to most. Those that do buy them swear on the detail and scale to be superior than any other diecast produced. It's sort of the "Marvel Legends vs. Figurarts" argument.

I prefer to buy my premium models at $5 rather than $30, but I chop em up and customize. I don't know that Tomica has a custom fanbase at all. They are too worried about side mirrors snapping off and such to even consider improving them.

Nice! I collect Tech Decks too, mainly the "rare" ones from each set. I used to skate, but I thrashed my body too much to get out any more. The new sets with trick pieces are pretty awesome.

They seriously phoned this set in. Most of the models don't have headlight/taillight tampos. It really comes across as a cash grab. I'd suggest saving and buying either the metal/metal premium versions of these cars or TLV versions.

There's a pretty decent market for Tomica, not as large as Hot Wheels but the collectors usually have deeper pockets and will buy some less desirable models. Instagram is huge right now for diecast. Make an account and post up pics/prices and hashtag the shit out of it. You'll definitely get some sales. Also Lamley sackrides Tomica so everyone that sackrides him also buys TLV.

Depending on how those do they might start making more elaborate premium castings.
Unless the Car Culture stuff is intended to at some point trickle down to the Mainline

It's not just the opening parts, though. The sheer amount of details on the 100% castings are miles above what the current premium line has.
The engine and interior on that splittin' image for example is three or four separate pieces instead of just one giant piece like the new GMC pick-up in the Matchbox moving parts line.

Usually start with a gravity drop, to a loop or a set of curves, then a booster, then a huge jump.

I have setup some cool infinite tracks with the battery powered bridge piece. the top and bottom have connections for track, so it gives alot of options!

Could some one shed some light about mini-series, i mean about price.
A premise: i'm in yurop and where i live is even worst for this hobby, there is almost nothing here let alone premium series and so on. Thus online is important source.
Example: last year i got the GT themed series for around 2€ per car, scalpers aside, now their price rised a bit and that was expected. Now looking for series like Modern Classic and Silhouettes, i don't get why they go for the same price (from 40 to 60€ per set). M.C. is supposed to be on par with GT series while S. are "premium" with RR wheels. So the question: 1) what would be a reasonable price for online deals? 2) what would be price in a shop if i found them (quite unlikely but...)?

P.s. US e-shop are best: a lots of interesting things for cheap, but christ for 25€ for 4 cars to 60€ of shipping for more it's a turn off

Its an amazon exclusive. Its basically a bunch of the single cars but put together in a cheap generic box (not for display in a store). You get 8 relatively nice models for cheap. A lot cheaper than buying them individually. As far as I know, there is no difference between the regular single pack car vs this multi pack

Tokmanni is a finnish cheap store chain that sells stuff, lately they have cranked up their public visibility with having tv commercials where "Mr. Tokmanni" (just the most regular guy in his late 20s you can imagine, instead of some mascot character, not even wearing any Tokmanni costume, just regular, of the street normal clothes) and his red truck drive around Europe, meet some big shot that makes X product, and then he buys said product for dirt cheap through haggling and then advertises that you can now buy X for *insert cheap price* at Tokmanni!

And it costs absolutely nothing compared to say a hot wheels truck. You would expect to run into Coca cola trucks and such in a store, or ones of more widely known retailer chains, but freaking Tokmanni truck out of nowhere

So far, Matchbox seems to have the best, and worst Majorette

I can't really say about Siku, but they seem to be an ok quality, just so boring that I never buy them, they're build great but other than that just feel like a glorified Majorette

Hot wheels are a complete wild card and I have not tried out any of the never hear-brand china etc manufactured toy cars, but they look like absolute trash

Yeah it's the Attack Track. It has very piss poor small excuses for wheels on the bottom though, that at least on mine don't even rotate fully so it just slides along surfaces instead of actually moving, but the missile thing lifts up and you can detach the missile so that's cool

I've seen a couple of those id chase cars come up with both the flat tangerine color and Spectraflame Orange. If Mattel is doing chase pieces of chase pieces that puts the count of chase cars per case to 5, meaning 75 cars across the 15 cases will be scalping targets.

How the fuck do I store these things? I feel like if I just put them in a plastic tub they're going to get all scratched up. Is it safe to do so? I don't want gigantic craft containers to store these, because the collection is rapidly going to get out of hand.

Giant plastic tub for cars you dont mind getting scratched up.

Small organizer type cases they sell at craft stores. JoAnns has a great one that fits almost any model. You can get them for $7 with a coupon during sales every couple months.

Big Hot Wheels Dispaly Case they sell on Amazon for $50 it comes with an exclusive car too.

I am based out of Eastern Europe and I have no problem with new models, things that would get scalped in America are peg warmers here, except for Matchbox which has a complete abstract kind of supply chain here. One store carries them but its a complete toss up when they show up and what shows up.
I did manage to get the Matchbox pack with the purple Holden Ute which was real threat to find.

As far as I understand Europe just does not get Car Culture sets, has Mattel said why?

Eurofag here, we do get a fixed number of Premium sets per year but they're distributed to the entire continent and big markets are prioritized. So for example if Mattel gives 1000 boxes of Fast and Furious Premium cars to Europe, and the UK distributors ask for 400 and the Germans for another 300, all the rest of Europe will have to split 300 boxes, meaning that some countries will get zilch.

We've started petitioning to our local distributors here (through organized collectors' clubs) and have finally seen some Premium releases this year, namely Transports and the Silhouettes series.
