Didn’t notice any in the clearance listings, and I did ask the stores I’ve seen carrying them. One store told me they have no idea what’s actually on sale until they scan it, and the other just said “no.”

Turns out there was some kind of glitch in the corporate computer system and any figure under $30 was being marked down to $5 regardless. They didn't catch it until like Monday, but some places got totally exploited by walk-ins. The local store sold off almost all their action figures, it was nuts. I got a few $29.99 figures for $5 myself.

How does this work, if the physical price tags on location were showing the intended prices this whole time wouldn't it be instantly obvious that something is wrong with the computer database? Like, why would someone assume that they'd just have to pay $5 for a figure that has a $20-25 price tag in-store, even if they saw it cost this much on the web site?

GameStop seems to handle it's clearance like shit lately.

Basically, they slap a yellow sticker with retail price on it, then it may be marked down a % more. They don't seem to mark things individually for the actual price.

they knew there was a sale going on but they don't know which all figures had been marked down unless they are sent a list of specific figures to put stickers on. The price changes in the local computers come down from HQ, so whatever price comes up when it scans, they assume it's correct. Like when you go to walmart and ask them to scan an item, they don't know what the price is supposed to be, only what the computer tells them.
I bet someone up top got fired for this snafu, probably cost the company hundreds of thousands.

A lot of them are in testing phases for new stuff to see if it sells at specific locations. Mine is starting to move SH Figuarts, and I know of a couple in Corpus Christi starting to sell Gacha stuff. Several locations are trying things to see what sells and then expanding that stock when it does.

This. Every Gamestop I checked complained about not having an actual list of clearance toys. I had to bring up a pile of figures for them to scan one by one.

It got exhausting and I could tell the employees hated it. Now it's the end of the sale and they know which ones aren't on clearance, just from checking them so many times.

I just got back from one where they said anything that had AF in front of the name on the Clearance tag and is under $30, then it's $5. Apparently the sale ends today.

Managed to pick up Living Laser which is nice since my original order for pickup was canceled.

I went to buy a $5 pickle rick and a $5 power ranger, but they had sold out of the power ranger somehow, and had to refund it. But they fucked up and refunded the entire purchase, so I got a free pickle rick and $10 back. Gamestop needs to have stupid sales more often.
