I wondered if the same thing happened with the Neuromancer line from Yamato (I think). This was a line I think competed in the same space as Play Arts Kai. They did some nobody, Yoko from Gurren Laggen, and Asuka from Evangelion. I received my ordered for Yoko as expected, but Asuka, I was told, I received the only case sent to my distributor because I'd placed the first order for them. Then the company blamed lack of sales too. Well, yeah, if you underproduce, you're going to undersell, duh.
I heard some complaints about the toys themselves but I could never tell if they were legitimate or typical "hur dur, shoulders a millimeter too wide, too heroic looking" idiocy of 3P TF collectors. I'd basically stopped actively selling toys that expensive because the market in general became so poor.
