I don't know if I'd call them "high quality" but the Kotobukiya model kits are decent enough and they're pretty easy to put together. I'd really like some RAH figures of the TV designs though.

Been rewatching the series and hungry for the original designs. I have revoltechs of all the rebuilds and ideally would just love modern revoltechs of the OG designs but these look decent, they pose well?

They pose pretty well for model kits but not quite as well as the Revoltech or Robot Damashii figures. They have pretty good range on the hips, shoulders, and knees but the elbows are a little limited.

They've got enough articulation, if that's what you mean. You're right about sold out and the aftermarket prices are rough but around the 8-10k mark, they still feel worth it.
I've seen the Renewal EVA-01 at 18k, though and that's just crazy
Also, if model kits count, the old Bandai LMHGS are definitely outdated and need a lot of work but the proportions are the most screen-accurate, since they have the extra-wide chest/shoulders and thin abdomen. They're cheap too and Bandai tends to reissue their models more often than Koto and other manufacturers

Anyone else have a real soft spot for the old kaiyodo Eva figures? Terrible articulation but the paint and accessories were fucking dope. Wonder how tough it would be to track down a set.

the shoulder isn't wide enough on these. they just modified the oirignal design to make it fit the rebuild proportions. they're slimmed down rebuild evas instead of making them more buff.
they're not bad but nowhere accurate.

It's pretty crazy. It seems poorly managed.
Shinji and Kaworu would be safe bets since the fujoshi crowd is fairly crazy about them and lots of people would want the main character and would just end up biting on Kaworu to complete the set
Misato would sell easily too, she's pretty popular and also has waifu and fanservice power behind her
I'm amazed nobody but Medicom even bothered capitalizing on 3.0 designs. They could've very easily put out the corresponding Rei and Asuka designs for more easy cash
In the meantime they put out everything from Evangelion themed towels to glasses and even food. Revoltech seems like the only line that actually bothers but their focus on endless Rebuild reissues gets weary. I was hoping they'd at least move onto ANIMA but it was just a one-off

I hope GSC makes some new Eva Figmas for 3.0+1.0. The 2.0 Figmas are fine but they're starting to show their age. Maybe Medicom will make some of the pilots in their Mafex line.

Even though i really like NGE i doubt i could guess whether an eva is form OG or rebuild as they are like 95% the same in my mind and have just molded together over the years (design wise, not what happens in the shows of course)
Other than 00 (you know because blue vs yellow). So that said, i would really like a blue 00, so i agree that they should do some TV versions of them all.

Because the emphasis in Japan is on static statues for maximum detail. Poseable/articulated figures have largely been seen as children's toys until very recently, which is into the Rebuild era.

That actually depends on the one you get. I think you're probably looking at the rebuild versions instead of the TV versions. There are kits that specifically tried to recreate the proportions of the tv models.

Also keep in mind that the TV models are not actually static. They tended to change shape and proportions a bit so they'll look buffer in one scene and skinnier in another.

Well then I'm afraid nothing ever will be. I could get out the digital ruler and start showing you how the proportions are literally nearly perfect in terms of things like shoulder width, arm size, thigh size, etc but it wouldn't matter. You have some completely impossible standard that cannot ever be realized because its not based on any real issue.

I bet I could show you a fucking statue that had proportions exactly identical to the millimeter with the design documents for the show and you'd still complain its not right.

The modern revoltech Rebuild releases look decent enough next to them so long as you don't mind the stylistic differences. I don't think there any options for Angles. The S.H.Monsterarts ones would have been good, but I don't think those will ever see release.
