I made a white version of that Ford GT40 MKII that I posted in the last thread. This one is based on the car that won at the Daytona 24 in 1966 at the hands of Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby.

I honesty hate 4 wides. They are so cartoonish but is it okay if the base is 4 wide but the rest isn't?

I'm talking about something like Rebel Roadster set 6538. Technically canopy is 4 wide but wheels stick out making is 6 or even 6.5 wide but that works in a hotrod.

Only you decide what you like anon, you can build however you like. I personally build 6wide now but it depends on what kind of car i'm going for. (i built a piaggio 3wheeler wich was 4wide and some larger than 6wide).
I still have a soft spot for 4-wide. I used to build them lovingly as a kid, just see it as an alternative retro style.

Personally, I feel a 4-wide should be able to pull into a space that's 4 studs wide, meaning that the outside edges of the wheels/mudguards fit within the space. I consider a 4-wide with side mirrors to be truly 4-wide, while a 4-wide with extruding mudguards doesn't count as truly 4-wide.

Doubtful they'd do well. Most parents today are products of the '80's where we had nuclear war drills because of the Soviets, the presidential fitness campaign, and the reminiscent distinct smell of opening a bag of Lego. Now those parents know the smell was some kind of toxin (I loved that smell though), and will steer their kids clear of any chink bricks. If only they really knew...

Opening new bags today don't have that distinct scent, I don't know if they just pumped "happy air" into the bags or what.

I have nearly 5,000 parts worth of legos. I have seen prices increase as the year has ended. You can almost double your money as far as selling bricks using bricklink. I have not sold anything and dont think I will but still, prices dont lie. People are willing to overpay for parts of mocs they want to create. You dont even have to do anything but ship the bricks. You can open a shop and oversell bricks and just sit there and eventually someone will overpay just to complete whatever they are trying to complete.

I particularly like how you use the slightly smaller "City-Scale" wheels & tires rather than the bigger Speed Champions ones on it and the GT40's you posted. They really show off how small & narrow the tires were on the real-life cars back then. Well, until the 1970's happened with the Porsche 917 & Ferrari 512S/M series cars of course.

Your cars are all built with the "Standard" chassis part most of the Speed Champions cars use right?

Speaking of replacement parts, I'm starting to feel like as if there's some truth behind the "shit parts are made in a different factory" claim.
I got some replacement parts recently directly from Lego and the small balljoint socket that was included was MUCH stiffer than any other I ever had. I could almost lift the entire D.Va mech at the gun without it even moving while the other side was relatively loose in comparison.

Seems like there aren't as many tiny pieces in this wave. Typically the duplicate pieces are tiny or fragile ones that easily get lost/ broken that Lego includes extras of just to cut down on the number of people complaining that the part was "missing".

I've been debating selling my LotR sets to buy an Xbox One X; what do you guys think?

I really want a fuckin Xbox but Im a NEET and live off NEETBUX (thanks Trudeau) and kinda outgrew my LotR shit and wanna focus on collecting Star Wars Lego

This kind of double opened fireplace, separated by a grate, is usually placed as one is on the kitchen and the other in the main living space. Never seen one opened on the outside.
But if you look closely it doesn't make a lot of sense to put a bath and toilet upstair. Nor is not putting any stairs (but they might exist, just not be visible in the pictures).

Yeah, I noticed it as soon as I took the photo. As for your question, the baseplate was bought in the early 2000s and has nothing to do with modern Lego quality. I think Lego has another company makes baseplates anyways.

Alright, I gave my Radium one last final redesign. I really wanted him to fit in with the crew and look like he came out in 99 so this is the final result. Swapping the gun parts for their respective old gray equivalents, but aside from that I'm pleased with this look. Lemme know what you guys think.

Honestly growing tired of Ideas. I know it's said time and time again here, but it feels like too often most of the successful submissions are IPs, and often ones that just don't make a lot of sense to be Lego, like Big Bang Theory and Friends.
I'd much prefer to see them weed things out and make original concepts like the birds, the marble maze, or the fairytale book be the only acceptable types of entries.

I was thinking today at work that Lego should replace Ideas with more of a curated program. The so-called "wisdom of the crowd" has clearly proven to be faulty, and The Lego Group is under no obligation to follow it. So have users submit projects, skip the voting process, and just leave it to the internal review panel to select the projects that they find interesting. Frankly, it would probably lead to a wider variety of sets actually being made.

I think the issue is that they lay down the metallic gold first, then the ink for the eyes, but it can't stick to the metallic gold ink very well. Mine has the same problem.

I built another mech (big surprise). Looked at some LBX for inspiration and ended up making something very close to Val Diver.

So I finally finished the project I had been trying to get done on and off this week.
The add-on to the King's Mountain Fortress is complete.

I feel it looks very good even though I couldn't get the baseplate I wanted (mostly because they're all in the US and very expensive). It makes the castle feel a lot more roomy and comfy.
I'm not going to take credit for this, as I've posted about it before, a youtube guy made this first. I liked it so much I decided to make it for myself.
I still lacked some of the parts I needed so in the future I'm going to update it a bit with a little more green plating on the ground, another large oak tree (like on the right of the castle) and some different structural elements for the inside of the build.

That aside, I'm very pleased with the end result. It really does look like something that should have been done by Lego - castle expansion sets.

I hate these things, they are worse than studshooters, fragile bricks or bad printing on figures. Before I could just easily connect sets on board. Go to Walmart and just walk up to the checkout with the box. If they're busy or the employee is new, there's a good chance they will sell you the box for $4.

Definitely go for it. It's one of the sets I plan on getting as well when I decide to complete SPII.

If you've got all the other sets I'd suggest getting the last one as well, just for completion's sake.

So far I've gotten done collecting Blacktron I and Futuron, with most other factions being worked on at the moment.
Blacktron 2 is furthest along and should be complete by next year.

You'll definitely want to consider redoing all the moving parts and framing in technic. Whatever you're using there to connect the buckets is going to be stiff and those rounded plates are going to pop off with any weight on them.
You can use peg-pins to attach system stuff, like those plates on the sides to hide the technic framing.

Use 57518 tread to attach buckets to, using 3/4 pins and connectors. They even have specific wheels of different sizes to use.

Yes, it is one of the best sets that I own. The aesthetics and play value are really good, and it doesn't take up that much space. You can put 6959 anywhere you like.
The Renegade ship was the last set I got in the series and a really good one too.

I also have the monorail - it is truly peak or near peak Lego Space. It does help that I have the space for it.
That's ultimately what it comes down to when collecting large amounts of Lego - how much space are you willing to invest into displaying it and how much stuff can you get before you invariably run out of room.

By next year around this time my lego display room project should be at least well under way if not fully completed.

If by classic space you mean all the factions from the 90s, then yes.
If you mean the original run of Lego Space from the 80s then no - there are a LOT of sets, some of them pretty rare and most of them moderately expensive in good condition.

The main draw of 8ch /lego/ was the community-oriented approach to moderation. The biggest problem with 4channel is it's size - the large amount of jannies needed to police threads means that someone moderating a thread isn't necessarily involved with or bothered about a community.

Again, as I haven't even laid the groundwork for this yet, I can't really say anything and there's no point making unrealistic claims. I'd like to make it an archive of sorts for Lego and compile a webring of useful websites, and ask the community what else they want added.

I understand what you mean, but I'd word it differently. This site is huge, and that's both a strength and a curse. Strength, because almost every niche is covered and there's activity on each board. But it comes with a downside, the moderation, as you mentioned. Sometimes it's lacking, sometimes it's downright awful. However, I don't see it as a huge problem here on /toy/ or in this general specifically.

The curse, on the hand, is the fact that because this is so huge, it's very difficult to lure people to go elsewhere. And why would they? 4chan is like the "WoW of imageboards". As long as it exists, others have a hard time striving in its shadow.

This is definitely the way to go - if you can pull it off. I used to run my own imageboard, but stopped developing it, because I felt the "community" never really appreciated my efforts. I wanted to offload the moderation to the users, and also make archives more useful and automatic, not to mention helping to bring about "highlights". But the problem was that some people thought that the imageboard started to be more like "Reddit-light", or something. Not to mention the userbase was so small that I too started having doubts if it was all worth it in the end. (This is why I'm kinda jealous of the furry and brony communities, because they have managed to "beat the shadow" and build things independent of sites likes 4chan and Reddit.)

I started rebuilding my collection after losing 80% of it in a fire. After I got out of the hospital I started buying used lots on ebay and specific things I wanted on bricklink.

Part of the lack of moderation also means this place keeps away the babies that would rant after being offended by some off-color humor or absolutely have to add their 2 cents to an obvious shitpost. Well, those retards are still around but maybe you get what I mean; it prevents this place from being flooded by the types that flock to brickset forums and their moderation. Even then, mods tend to get around to obvious garbage that crops up here, but it's not going to be instant.

You also have to consider the crowd you're trying to attract. The amount of anons you're going to extract from here is going to be small as this is a small corner of a larger, very slow board.

I knew this was going to come up, but I don't want to mention it. Simply because it doesn't exist anymore. However, it came about sometime between Wizardchan and 8ch. I was partly inspired by my talks with HotWheels at the time. (And I closed it before Gamergate happened.)

Nothing special. After I got a job, I had less free time to spend coding my own stuff. But if you have the skills, the time and a little bit of money too, it could be an interesting project. The biggest obstacles, at least for me, were always "social" in nature. How to get people interested, willing to commit, stay active, etc. The big "is this really worth my time" kind of deal.

It was a little build I was pretty proud of, plus I can make it work for various other things. I'm going to hopefully make a few others as shelf-ends, as it makes the shelf area a little more interesting. Plus it'd be handy to have some interchangeable backdrops for things, and something I can essentially convert into a hanger for my license shit.

If I can get more grey before Halloween, I'm going to build a new one. As this isn't really a new build, more a modification, I'll not enter it in the challenge, for the sake of fairness. But the idea for this is those cheesy shit b-movies. It's going to end up as a film poster for "Killer Spiders... From OUTER SPACE!" or some meme. At the moment, I'd just having fun with creative lighting.

Got most of the CMFs I wanted this weekend. Just need a Pizza Suit Dude and some more Golden Girls for my flamingo army. Even though I was prepared for it, I'm still annoyed at the shitty printing on some of the figs in this wave. Mummy Girl has some minor fuzziness on the gold mask side, but not terrible, but there's a spot on the other side where the black ink got smeared during production. Stitching on the Dog Poop Girl is inconsistent, as I have two and one of them has stitching that's noticeably harder to see than the other one. Phantom Fright Knight has a spot in the middle of the upper lip where the lip printing is flat-out missing.

Care Bear Guy is pretty good though. Same with Golden Girl, Foxy Lady, and Muggle Bath Accoutrement Expert.

Thanks, at first i wanted a lego movie set but i figured there was a lot of very specific looking pieces, i'm now looking at the creator sets and seeing a lot of new pieces and techniques for making robots with those balljoint thingies, so i guess i'll start with those, the sea creatures one looks dope

Thanks. But like I said, it's not you, it's me. Difficult to explain. Usually I'm happy to post whatever. However, legos (and drawing) were childhood hobbies, which I totally dropped for the longest of time. And only now, when my life is much more settled, I'm starting to pick them up again. Fucking lmao, like the store would still be open, let alone have any stock by the time I get there to buy some. Pretty sure Big W has the same price but they're almost as much of a meme so that could be fun.

I was born in '93 but still can't remember a time where the 10 or so checkouts in my store were full. But nonetheless, they had at least 15 packets of Bennies today along with a shitload of other LM2 sets on special. Rexcelsior was $200 which is still a shit load more than what it is on ebay though
