My one gripe with the idea of having figures interact is often that you run the risk of having one with the back facing the viewer, which looks awkward with most presentations.

Sure. I posted my shelves in the last thread. The only thing new is that I got Nappa today (really good figure, not sure why I passed on him initially). I should have Merged Zamasu and Gogeta Blue by the end of the month. And yea, I didn't fix the shitty poses I got called out for in the last thread.

It's a nice looking head but the engineering is terrible, it's way too heavy and requires a stand cause broly keeps falling over. Really hope they make a 2.0 that's lighter. I also tried to rearrange some stuff on my other shelf to make more room.

It's a real mess right now, but there's really not point in buying and assembling cabinets now since they'll be in a different room next year.

Yea, I probably will. I just held off on him since I hated his goofy portrayal, plus i already have the adult Gohan figure, so I didn't see the point of double dipping with a character I'm not too fond of. But the sculpt looks really good, and the costume looks WAY better in toy form than it did in the anime.

Looking at everyone's collection makes me wish I could post my own, but mine is all boxed away at home while I'm currently working away from home. Also, I'm surprised no one else has done this, but I'm eventually going to set up my collection in canon order on a bookshelf in front of the manga, with an extra space for non-canon characters like Z Broly and A21. I didn't want to buy it back then because of the weird hips and shadowing, the lack of accessories and no smirking face.

Fuck me... I want to kill myself. This figure is not even that old. Wtf is that... This is not Android 17 and 18. Moreover it's a fucking gamble now that no official store has it and that bootlegs are everywhere on Ebay.
Why can't they just make more figures of popular characters and still keep producing recent figures? They can still produce the classic ones and keep the bullshit with colors exclusives.
I'm tired this thirsty doggy game going on in the toy industry. Everything is exclusive, everything is limited, everything comes only in few units, everything has to be purchased day one. This is getting tiring.

This disgusting fear of missing out. I like the character and I would like a good, proper fig of him. I didn't even like the figure they made but knowing that could be the one and only SHF action figure of him ever and not knowing about the future is making me oneitis this damn figure...

Why not just buy a bootleg then? I missed the boat on the Figuarts one (I honestly didn't think he'd be that popular since people shit all over Super any chance they get). I just ended up getting the Dragon Stars version, and it works just find in a display. He won't be doing any crazy articulated poses or anything, but he can stand there and look threatening with the best of 'em. Plus, he looks pretty good with the Dragon Stars Zamasu...so there's that I guess.

Don't they cater to a different thing? If you want a big, hulking dosemachine that will make any other figure other than classic Broly and Super Buu look like a shrimp, you go for Full Power.
If you want the cool, armored, large, but not hulking version that also comes with base form options, you go for Armored Broly.
Frankly, I think there's plenty of place for both of them in your collection. Far more so than, say, three versions of Trunks, every form of Goku, etc.

I can't imagine getting just one. They're both great and they both serve a purpose.
If you can buy every version of Goku with different hair, you definitely can afford to have two Brolys, especially when one comes with the heads for three forms, including base and the other is the ultimate form, both of them with great engineering, an amazing sculpt and nice paint where it matters.

How do you guys store all your extra hand and face pieces? I originally just kept them in their packaging but I want to move the boxes elsewhere away from the figures cause of space.
Thought about just throwing it all in a container. But I didn't want to basically go Lego piece hunting in a container everytime I wanted to find a specific hand piece for a figure.

I think after the Cell games, Z could have ended and nothing of value would have been lost. The Buu saga was garbage, and the only good things to come out of Super are Beerus and Goku Black/Zamasu. All the different hair color related transformations are retarded, the power level discrepancies make no sense whatsoever, and key characters just fading from relevancy is just annoying. Every main character aside from Goku and (partially) Vegeta get even more screwed as the series progresses.

Ending the series after the Cell games would have made sense. Goku knew he was a liability for the earth as long as he lived there, so he trained his son to take his place. He would have gone out as a noble hero who gave his own life to ensure the safety of everyone around him. He would have left on a high note, actually being a decent dad whose final words to his son were those of pride and respect. Instead, he's a reckless moron who put everyone in danger for sole thrill of a good fight.

So yea, tl;dr
The Buu Saga is shit, Super is shit, and I think it goes without saying that GT was shit. Z should have ended at the Cell Games.

I liked Buu saga but it suffered from the same thing as Cell in transformations, but at least it didn't pull out the main threat and replace him. I can see your point. Even I can admit that ignoring that fact requires quite a bit of suspension of disbelief. I just attributed it to Cell literally being composed of Frieza (a literal genetic anomaly of his race), Saiyans, a namekian, and 2 super powerful androids.

Not sure if the arc you're referring to is the Tournament of Power arc. If so, that arc requires WAY more suspension of disbelief than the Cell arc ever did.

The current arc is the Moro arc. It follows similar story beats to Demon King Piccolo and Frieza, which are my favorite arcs so it's probably I'm liking the way its going. ToP was disappointing for the most part. The idea I have in my head for it might be even more generic, but I'd have done it differently. Also back tingles are retarded, but no different from Goten and Trunks reaching SS offscreen.

theyre still stronger, unless someone trained past that boost. a ss2 may be stronger than ss1, but a trained ss1 can beat an untrained ss2. this is how goku beat golden freeza even though golden freeza was a stronger transformation. goku even literally said it in the movie. freeza didnt train it at all and rushed out to fight goku and died for it. theres also mutations to consider. a random human cant train up enough to match freeza. freeza is a mutant who was tremendously powerful without ever lifting a finger in his life. he was ss1 strong and he didnt even move under his own power, he floated in a toilet. same for broly except he sort of recieved SOME training, though as freeza pointed out it was a worthless effort since paragus was nowhere near strong enough to push broly into improvement. also that "learning as he fights" deal he did where the fight was the training, thats what gohan did in the manga. he trained with piccolo but during the tournament it all came back and he solo'd kefla, who had eliminated everyone else and was beating the shit out of jirens homo squad.

Roshi is at LEAST over 400 years old. during that time he mastered a variety of techniques, and he has a basic grasp of Ultra Instinct, which is why he lasted so long in the tournament, what he lacks is physical power.

This isnt confirmed anywhere. 17 spends the tournament eliminating fodder that Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza could easier handle if they went Full Power. 17 fights SSB Goku yes. But whats unique about Super Saiyan Blue is that you have complete Ki control in that form. You can raise your power to the level of a GoD, or you can drop it down to Farmer with a Shotgun level if you wanted. all while in Blue. Think of it like a slider.

If you mean Anime Gohan, he struggles with quite a few opponents. He even has trouble with Botamo for a bit. then he picks up the pace and is at an equal level the Universe 10 fighters. By the end of the tournament, He still can BARELY handle Dyspo. and he definitely cannot handle Toppo even with 17. He got stronger the more he fought. Id say its pretty fair.

The problem with super's lore is that it differs completely from Z. In Z, power levels were everything, and that's a rule set by Toriyama himself. Now, all that's flown out the window with Super. Why set up rules if you're going to eventually completely ignore them.

I'm not arguing that. I think they were dumb as fuck and made a lot of side character obsolete. The problem is that they never really went away, characters just stopped overtly mentioning them. That's why no matter how hard Krillin, Yamcha, or Tien train, they'll never be able to get to Cell or Buu's level of power. It's why Piccolo had to fuse twice just to stand a chance against villains.

If they didn't matter, then how come everytime they were mentioned their accuracy was reflected. Literally every time a character had a lower power level than an opponent, they got wrecked. The only exception I can think of is Piccolo beating Radditz, but that's only because the technique he used specifically raised his power level for a short burst attack. Kind of like a shittier version of the kaioken.

That's because back in the day, the difference in power level was like, 50 points, and if you had a PL of 1000, and someone else had a PL of 1500 it was considered beyond hopeless.

Probably because shortly after that Dragon Ball Z literally became entirely oriented around power levels and having the highest one.

The Name saga was entirely power level oriented for victories. The Cell saga was entirely about unlocking new levels of Super Saiyan to defeat the new levels of androids and Cell. The Buu saga was about trying to overcome Buu's power level via fusions or unlocking potential. Super was entirely about pushing Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan and then unlocking an even more powerful form in Ultra Instinct and Mastered Ultra Instinct to overcome the guy with the BIGGEST power level.

Toriyama degenerated the whole series into chracters one-upping eachother's power levels. The only skill-based fights we get are Goku vs Cell, Goku vs Vegeta, and maybe you could argue stalling Kid Buu for the Super Spirit Bomb or pressing the "Call Zen-O" button to beat Zamasu

I never really meant to imply that they were meaningful.

Its just that early on, the gap from character to character is pretty small, and whatever gap in power there was could be made up with skill and technique.

But then it starts to jump too quickly, and explicitly its show that skill and stuff can't cover the gap. And then Powerlevel just becomes a dumb JRPG HP stat and in JRPGs if your stat is too low you can't even damage the opponent because their stats are so high. In fact, I wouldn't even be shocked if Toriyama dumped powerlevels/numerical stats into Dragon Ball since he was also constantly working on Dragon Quest and thought giving his Dragonball characters an HP bar would be a good idea. Even if it was a stupid idea.

Inversely, I wasn't against DF's SS Gogeta head having the metallic-ish hair of the SSB forms until I realized that even Broly's SS form was just going to be like the ones that came before it.
