Translucent+shiny paint like the SDCC Goku Black is honestly the best combo. When the light hits it it practically glows, and even without light it still looks good thanks to the shiny paint. But just straight up translucent looks kind of shit.

It always amazes me when I see the old Irwin DBZ figures and their insanely terrible sculpt. I can't fathom how someone could sculpt a turd like that, think it looks good, run it past management, and have that shit get approved for mass retail.

It changes throughout the movie from a turquoise to light blue to darker blue depending on the lighting of the scene. It's a very dark blue when he does the Stardust Breaker/Soul Punisher for instance, but much lighter when he does the weird ki pillar attack.

Probably the same base sculpt, but then adjusted to make the proportions fit more. For boots, probably outright the same sculpt, just slimmed down. For legs, probably changed a little bit to have the right muscle definition.
I don't believe that they both have totally unique sculpts that they made from scratch, though.

The hair is just too regular and controlled so it doesn't look natural.
It's supposed to slope down towards the sides, instead it's almost almost equal, like a crown.
Also, it stands up too much, while it should curve back at least somewhat.

I find that I take out FP Broly and Gogeta to pose the most. Last spot is a toss up between Zamasu for all the accessories and armored Broly.

I have to say that I've really enjoyed most of the releases this year. Super Buu is definitely up there as well and I like everything that came with Great Saiyaman. Goku and Vegeta were also solid for being mostly repaints.

They could have axed this line at any time. The line sold like shit the first year, and never even got a regular retail release for the first five years the line existed, outside of the first three figures.

And DB is about as popular as its ever been right now, so the line isn't going anywhere, especially when they cash in on the hype of movies and current stuff. Half of these figures go out of stock and immediately double in price on the aftermarket.

If the line could survive for years with basically nothing to carry it in the early days, it can survive just fine right now with movies, a running manga, video games, card games, and boatloads of other things hyping people into wanting toys.

They're not that bad honestly but stick to getting ones that don't have figuarts versions so you can kinda justify them. Avoid the ones like the Goku near the back right that'll you probably regret owning.The build a fig Kale they made seems fun to have and I think you have a few of the wave.

The first few years of Irwin toys were mostly reused Bandai and AB toys molds, which were already like 5+ years old by then. Those were the ones with the weird gun accessories. They did make a power pole which I thought was pretty cool, though. Towards 2001 or so they started making more original molds and for the time they were pretty good. There just weren't many good anime figures at the time. Tampo printing faces and digital sculpting really helped improve how they looked, as opposed tot he old way of digging every little line into a groove on the face of a character. the Irwin labs monsters, aliens,and emcha characters held up pretty decent as sculpts though. I love the fat that they gave us Toriyama mechanical designs like the red Ribbon mecha.

The wave 1 regular Goku sucks shit. Just get the base SHF Goku which is $35. The villains are pretty good stand ins. I personnally like the Perfect Cell over the SHF version. And 1st form Freiza. There's so much they could do now that they aren't doing BAF to drive up costs. Cyborg Freiza, Imperfect Cells, BADMAN Vegeta, more DBFZ clones.

I'm a normie and the quality is night and day. Even the "good" Dragon Stars figures don't hold a candle to the Figuarts versions. At absolute best, a top tier DS figure is barely passable in a Figuarts display.

I say this as someone who owns like 10 DS figures and incorporates them into a DBZ/GT/Super display.

Yes. His articulation, sculpt, and size is amazing. The only thing he's missing is a set of grappling hands. If you have Fat Buu you need Super Buu too.

The only one I own is first form Frieza, and he's pretty good. I've seen most of the other you mentionned in stores: Hit and Cabba weren't looking great, but I didn't look at them in detail as I don't care for Super. SSGSS Goku was the best Goku Dragon Stars I had ever seen, Golden Frieza looked good and I would have bought a same looking non golden version.
Cell is the only one I never saw in person

Their base Frieza is pretty good too, so half the job is already done.
A Cooler wouldn't be too much work either, and I'd buy it for sure.

Final Form would be dope but I just see Bandai taking the easy and profitable way on him instead. Unless they feel like giving a massive middle finger to DF and make a Final Form Cooler shortly after theirs comes out

Well, consider that we've had Super Buu and Broly this year and that we'll get Jiren next year.
All of which required a unique sculpt.
If Bandai really was still going for easy reuses, they'd have given us Vegito 2.0 and Future Trunks 2.0 already. But instead we've had more unique and new figures than that.
