The Ralph Niese really works, man. I would have only gotten Phanost and the three Armorvors this drop. But thanks to the art I also picked up a glyarmor and a couple pink Pheyaos blanks just to recreate that scene with 'canon' characters. Man, if Glyos had anything like the lore it used to, I'd go broke.

Not that I know of. You can find some of it documented on Marty's blog but it's nowhere near complete.

I wish there was someone who had been archiving all this stuff because there is SO MUCH third-party/bootleg/one-off resin stuff that is now virtually lost to the ages. Hell, even I have no clue who made some of the resin pieces in my collection or where it came from.

It's cool that he posted those up, but I was kinda laughing at the fact that he chose clear (already hard to pick out details) and clear red at that (red channel blows out much easier than blue or green, further loss of detail). Feed em through Insta for another drop in quality and some of those pictures are literally just red mush, they are of no use unless you want a silhouette of that head.

Almost definitely not. We've gotten a lot of purples recently and most of them look different. Mutorius purple paint is almost an exact match for Gatekeeper purple PVC (I have checked in person) but the Dark Nebula purple looks a little deeper. Some folks are thinking it might match the Vamperran Noboto, but I think that one's even darker. The only obvious match I see is the lavender paint apps on the Dark Nebula are the same color as the lavender PVC on the Traedian Intelligence Glyan.

Besides, the Glyos system was meant to be an open door for creativity, not to tie everyone down to one scale or aesthetic. I think it's cool to see people doing very different stuff with the joints.

Also, my KOTS stuff usually gets displayed with my 1/18 figures, it fits in pretty nicely.

This is an important thing that isn't brought up enough. Matt has outright said before that the glyos system is meant to be a joint system that any indy toymaker can use to help bring their toys to reality (as long as they ask permission to use it, that is). Not everything has to be in the "Glyos world". It's fun when it is, but it's not a requirement. I like that Jesse is just kind of doing his own weird thing with it. That said, I like smashing all the lines together; you never know what might work well together.

Seriously. I know Glyos doesn't lend itself to that articulation point, but KOTS would be 10/10 if their knees and elbows bent.

Imaginext should scale well with Glyos. Some dude on the Discord mentioned using Imaginext vehicles for Travelers a while back. They're about the same size, Travelers being a little thinner.

Yeah mine fell off immediately, BUT they will fit better if you remove the switch pin from the wings, put it into the Armorvors back and then put the wings on. It's a good deal more secure that way.

It may as well be. Now, don't get me wrong - I think the line accurately captures the feel of the old BB line, and that's fine. But, compared to the armorvors from the most recent drop, if I'm going to justify spending around 20 bucks on a figure, it's going to be on one that easily builds with the others in my collection. RotB aren't bad but they're sadly underwhelming compared to everything else.

2012 was a more fun and idealistic time in the Glyos scene, but if I'm being REALLY honest, I think this also has to do with the fact that a lot of the folks from back then are now older and have more to deal with in their lives. In 2012 I was a college slacker, I had tons of time to mess around with toys. Now I just go to work, and when I'm not working I try to work on my independent business to make some extra cash. I want to put more time into Glyos and feel that hype again, but it's hard, man.

I still buy figures almost every drop, cause my love for Glyos still does burn hot, but I tend to do small, quick builds that aren't worth posting because they have basically been seen or done before. Or just treat them like action figures and pose them on my shelves.

It's not the worst sculpt, but it was worse than the OG Granthan sculpt, and all those lines on its face quickly got gummed up by the thick paint apps so they always looked bad. The only time I liked that head was when we got it painted silver, the silver paint was a thinner consistency and the metallic shine helped the highs and lows pop so it looked good for once.

First of all, this art is really great. I love the comic book style of the characters around the edges.

But it kind of just reinforces in one image how poorly the dragon, cougar, and fish fit with the style of all the other Glyos characters. I know they're drawn in a different style here to begin with, but they really, really don't fit in with all the other characters around the borders. And that's a shame. I'm having a hard time accepting them as true canon members of the Glyos universe.

It's a difference in Frailey's sculpting style and even though they are legitimately great sculpts that look awesome on their own, they would have been more suited to being sold in the Godbeast store. There's a reason the Robo Force fit in with Onell parts, and that's because Matt sculpted them. I don't think these vor heads will ever fit in.

Yeah, especially alongside the stock Armorvor body. There's a jarring transition in detail that doesn't quite work. I feel the same way about a lot of the custom resin heads (Always preferred the Nistuff style over Marty's detail in terms of Traveler compatibility), but I guess this is different because it's full production. I just can't really get into it. I'd probably be thinking about trading/selling my Kugarrec if it wasn't seemingly the least popular of the three.

So I have a weird thing happening with BT figures of a specific off color. When I was going through figures yesterday, all the parts of this color were like velvety, covered in brownish orange powder? I don't know how well it comes through in this picture, but the viewer's right side of the torso in the middle has been cleaned off and the left has not, see how it's a little more orange-ish? It's like dye coming out and if I wipe it off with a cloth it stains it orange. It's not sticky at all like a plasticizer leak and it hasn't stained any other figures either.

Nah, I think that's probably a result of Ralph either not having the greatest grasp of Japanese or wanting a more concise-looking title that didn't have so many characters (gu-ri vs. gu-ra-i). I have talked to Matt in person multiple times and he pronounces it "Glye-ohs," and I also had a specific conversation with Marc where we joked about people coming up to the booth and mispronouncing it.

I was wrong about the Argen pronounciation though. I had always said "Are-genn," and Matt let me know it was "Are-jen."

He's standing like he's at breaking point holding in a shit and the only thing stopping it is his asscheeks. And the right arm is really awkwardly positioned. It looks like the gun might be nice for Travelers (It's a separate part, right? .....right?) but otherwise, this is kind of like the Dud in that the Glyos compatibility seems to be added as just a joint system and nothing else. We don't really need split discord bullshit I don't disagree with why the rules were made at the time but none of the outsiders stayed or were active in the main discord at all so why care about scaring them off or cleaning things up it'd be differant if it took off and got like a hundred people including Facebook squares, OG people from Glyos Connection, the big builders from Insta, and some of the actual creators, and they were active, and things had to be censored for them to stay. But that didn't happen it's the same people posting but with rules now except some good people left. I say forget about the rules and just chill.

One of them had to be coaxed into making a Discord in the first place and the other was the creator of a line that not many people in the Discord talked too fondly of. They didn't necessarily shit on his toys, but I feel like it wouldn't have been a place he'd want to have talked in.

I picked up the leftovers of Hyper Henshin as my first drop and there was this sense of magic to the whole thing. I was diving into a world of toys I had no idea even existed before, and the thread was a fun way to check what was happening. The first year and a half of my Glyos experience was probably the best. I guess times change and people change, but nothing feels the same now. Drops are still cool, I guess, but the figures just aren't hitting the same. I'm still happy to have most of them, and I've always only bought what I wanted (with the exception of mystery figs, which were a crapshoot), but Glyos has lost its magic to me.

Even these days, when I see some rare piece of Glyos memorabilia that's barely been seen before, I don't get this sense of childlike wonder like I did when I found out the Glyos pin existed, or Custom Corps. I just think 'huh, neat, that'll be a bitch to track down, if anyone even still has one to sell' and I move on with my day.

I also miss when I had inspiration and was more involved with the community, I guess. That's on me. I was pretty active on the Connection, the live chats were fun even though not many people showed up. Speculation on there was also nice. I also had more creativity back then, when I would take some Glyos and a shitty little camera wherever I went, always coming back with some barely acceptable photo of a Traveler on a tree or something. That motivation hasn't really been there for the last 7 months or so. I still have ideas, but I never go actually do anything with them, partially because I know I could never do them justice and partially because I just don't have the motivation, but that's on me.

TL;DR pointless rambling about how I lost my sense of wonder and fascination. Whee.

I feel like some of the burnout is how much we actually get nowadays. We have a few companies that release once every few months each and Onell has a usually fairly large wave monthly. I appreciate the amount of glyos that exists but it's the reason I always get extremely excited when I hear Toyfinity is doing something. Kent releases things so damn rarely that it feels a lot more special.
