>>7776537While it is true children are influenced by every social interaction and the media they consume and the things their parents choose to give them, they also have the free will to decide what they do and do not like. Me and my siblings were all raised under the same circumstances and we have varying interests.
I was more into non humanoid characters like Ninja Turtles, Kaiju, and various robots, my younger brother was into Varbie dolls and Power Rangers, my youngest brother was into military toys and vehicles, and my older sister was into Barbie dolls and 12" G.I. Joes.
Heck, even when I was a toddler playing with He-Man figures, I had a few She-Ra figures like Kowl and Bow and would borrow my sister's figures.
But I wasn't allowed to have a Skeletor because the character offended my mother's christian values. He was still my favorite character, despite parental objection, and I did eventually get gifted one from a relative, and eventually my mother accepted that owning toys of evil villians wouldn't lead to a life of satanism.
Similarly, you can give these "gender neutral" toys to kids and give trans/homosexual representation in their media, but isn't that just the same kind of "programming" as the interactions that supposedly train them to like blue and cars, but just on the opposite spectrum?
If that's the case, we should just pick the toys and clothing we want for our kids until they are developed enough to show signs of preferences, and then do what we can within reason to accomodate their tastes.
