Any guesses as to who will fly off shelves the most? I think the heavy weights of wave 1 will undoubtedly be ultimate warrior and triple h. I'm unsure how the sets will sell though, and packing cena in an exclusive play set seems kind of stupid in retrospect.

Having Cena in there is a means to sell the ring. And besides that, apparently the ring and 2 figures is only 29.99, while the figures are to be 14.99. If that's the case you buy Cena and Triple H and essentially get a ring for free, so it sounds like a great deal and gets you right into the line with 2 figures and a play set.

I think you guess quite accurately. That said, these are to be a Walmart exclusive, and depending on how much they get, they may just all be grabbed and scalped.

Well when you put it that way ,it's a good deal after all. The walmart exclusive stuff isn't a surprise to me since theyre mattel's last hope and best ally nowadays. Based on WWE circulation hopefully these figures find their way around. I'm really hyped for these.

Ever since wwe zombies ive been invested in the brand. I always loved weird ass gimmick lines, one of the reasons I miss toybiz honestly, and mattel has really been capitalizing on that niche for a while now. It should also be mentioned that these new MOTU bucks are compatible with the old wwe create a superstar figures. Even though mattel is inserting gender politics into Barbie, I'm atleast glad they have enough people who care about fun boys toys working on hot wheels,wwe, mega bloks, and now motu.

I think the double whammy of 80's nostalgia is on their side. You're essentially getting a super articulated Hasbro wwe figure and a new motu character in one after all. That being said I do hope this line attracts the younger demographics.

The only way they'd win me is if they used '80s wrestlers too. Andre the Giant, The Ultimate Warrior, Macho Man, Hulk Hogan, etc

Well, you might be happy to know that Ultimate Warrior is in wave 1, and Macho Man will be in wave 2. Wave 3 is more modern plus 90s, with ministry Undertaker and Rock, along with the translucent blue Cena and Braun.

Might be worth noting that all these figures can remove their gear and essentially just be a base wrestler figure. Some exceptions would be Faker Cena, New Day, Taker.

now is a pretty good time to jump in, the WWE TV shows RAW, Smackdown, and NXT are starting up a new "Season"(thanks to Smackdown moving to Fox as well as changing to airing on Fridays instead of Tuesdays, and NXT recently becoming a TV broadcast show instead of just something aired on Streaming services) this week, and All Elite Wrestling starting their new show Wednesday Night Dynamite over on TNT this week as well

Plain MOTU question: if Skeletor was King Randor's half-brother, what's the deal with his feet? Did they always have three clawed toes, or are we to believe they changed when he lost his facial flesh?

I believe that only in 200X he was Randor's brother, and he was more or less a regular guy (that was blue) until he got his acid thrown back at his face, which disfigured him and was threatening to kill him. At that point he went to Hordak and made a deal with him to heal him. He ended up skeletal in the face as a result, and mutated from that pact.

In the original I believe he was just Skeletor, a monstrous humanoid, much like other Evil Warriors.

The Keldor thing came from the minicomics, which never got a chance to explore it because the line ended soon after. While they never outright stated Keldor is Skeletor, they heavily imply it. Earlier minicomics had Skeletor coming from another dimension full of other skull face men.

Got it, thanks for the little history lesson. Hopefully the new mini comics have some fun lore in them. Seems to be only one page, if the WWE figures are anything to go by, so hopefully they can cramped lots in there.

Right. We see Keldor wearing boots in the 200X pilot, then when we flash forward Skeletor's going barefoot with long toenails on more-or-less human feet.
The very first mini-comics packed with the toys had him as a monstrous humanoid, as you say. A bunch of evil non-humans (and Zodac) shared his arm and leg molds.
Where it gets screwy is MOTU Classics giving a 1982-accurate toy design a bio calling him Keldor.

Keldor is a half breed. Randor's dad fucked a random dark elf and got her pregnant and Keldor/Skeletor's hate boner for his half-brother is due to their dad leaving his mom high and dry and causing Keldor to grow up and outcast because dark elves aren't supposed race mix.

Also, the MOTUC line stated most of Keldor's physical changes when he became Skeletor's were due to Hordak grafting a demon named Demo-Man to Keldor's body/soul to save him after his attempt to disfigure Randor's backfired and destroyed Keldor's face instead
